  1. Dewine and IMO Inslee are both getting overshadowed but it's natural for the focus to be on New York because that is where the epicenter is right now.
  2. How is she doing? Was that her only symptom?
  3. So I have passed my self isolation timeline and am fine but of course still at home. I was curious how many people have gotten ill closer to the 14 day mark than the 1 day mark of being exposed. It seems all cases I am reading about tend to be within 2 or 3 days of known exposure. I know a typical virus - the symptoms if you have caught it - typically materializes no more than 7 days after exposure. After that you are normally out of danger of getting ill. Is the 14 days just a safeguard? It's really why after I passed 7 days from exposure I wasn't really that worried.
  4. You have to tell us if it's successful. It's clear the society in Sweden is much more responsible and something interesting I did not know about the number of single person households.
  5. Thanks for posting. She is a national treasure.
  6. I thought that about Steve Scalise and he's as deranged as ever.
  7. Oh my. I am so sorry. I selfishly must have passed right past your comment. I wish you and your family the best. I think the hardest thing is that when someone is critically ill, thatl their loves ones are prevented from being with them due to their own potential health issues in addition to the fact the virus(if that's what it turns out to be) is so contagious. Holding the hand of someone who is ill sounds like a small thing, but makes a huge difference for the person who is ill but also for those close to them.
  8. That's the point.
  9. Maximum time in which symptoms can appear. But that doesn't address if you are asymptomatic. If so are you still contagious after 14 days?
  10. Yet not people exposed. Unless we have symptoms. If neither Klum nor her husband were exposed, they would not have gotten a test unless they were severe and hospitalized.
  11. This is infuriating.
  12. Did you read the tweet. They have test kits that are not being distributed. This is an attempt to keep the numbers of deaths down in states. Ask the Governor why they are not distributing test kits before you make these kind of accusations. All the states are having labs they are contacting making test kits because = let me say this again - the federal gvmt is not handling or managing any of it.
  13. I agree with most of this but the part of me that is still under an isolation mandate for being exposed to someone who has corona virus and I can't tell you how much less anxiety I would have if I could just get tested. Then I worry about my mom who's elderly and my older brother who lives with her and has a heart condition. Will they get ill, need a ventilator and be considered expendable. I don't ever want this country to be in a position of medical people having to decide to remove ventilators from people over 65, drugging them and letting them die in peace so the 30 year old can be saved. Living a long life doesn't make someone dispensable. They all matter to someone. I can't even fathom that. Now Italy's death toll is starting to drop slightly after putting a stay at home order in place. What happens when they flatten that curve. Do people stay at home or do they go back to being reckless like we in this country still are.
  14. This fool really thinks he can just "open up" the economy. Thank goodness I don't live in a red state that is not taking this seriously. They need to be banned.
  15. Thanks I am not ill and I just have a few more days. I'm generally healthy, my breast cancer was almost 20 years ago when I was young, so I don't have any underlying health issues. Never smoked. It's the unknown that we are still dealing with. If testing and the type of tracking and containment South Korea is doing was available here, we would all know a while lot more at this point. Even this weekend people were still in Florida partying it up as if there is no care in the world.
  16. I think all of this what if this and that right now is not really first priority. Can we just say first of all we were not prepared for this. South Korea has restrictions but they have also been able to contain and manage it because - lets all say it - testing. This country - remember the richest country in the history of the world - still is not properly preparing for testing people. I work out of my home for the most part - visiting clients as needs warrant it - I was notified last week I was exposed to someone with COVID-19 the week before last when I was at a client site in a meeting with that person. So I have been self isolating. Which even as a home worker and with a senior mom who lives in a retirement community yet sort of depends on me is hard. You know what I could do if testing was available to everyone - get tested. But I can't because while I have been exposed to someone, I don't have any symptoms. I guess I am only speaking for myself but if I could test and find out I don't have it it would be a weight off my mind and I can now work on protecting myself and those around me more thoroughly. And how long does this impact the folks most at risk. Will moms retirement community still be on semi lockdown because they are an at risk population? What about people sneezing and coughing who has a cold. Do they go home? I don't have the answers but sending folks back to work now when we still don't know the scope is irresponsible.
  17. So sorry to hear this. Take care of yourself and all of those close to you.
  18. Interesting. I'd love to see testing by population density also.
  19. Is California doing the level of testing New York is? That's a factor and I think NY has worked hard to make sure more people are being tested.
  20. Weren't they already doing this?
  21. Why is Germany being so careless? I expected Germany out of all of the European countries to follow the South Korea model not lag behind.
  22. In a hotly contested primary race in Illinois, Marie Newman beat incumbent Dan Lipinski in the democratic primary. This is a welcome win. And despite the attempts to tie her to people like AOC(yes she was endorsed by AOC and Our Revolution), she's not a progressive, a word I now associate with the cancel culture of the purity police on the left. She's an old fashioned liberal. She also moderated a bit on M4All due to the heavy union presence in this district. Please do not shed any tears for Dan Lipinski. He was appointed to his seat after his dad held the seat for years, he refused to endorse Barack Obama in both presidential elections, he voted no on the ACA, and he's the worst kind of pro-life democrat out there. This is not a red district democrats are in danger of losing. https://www.chicagotribune.com/politics/elections/ct-illinois-congressional-primary-roundup-20200317-x4rbpwa77jbrnn37fzlbmer7hi-story.html?fbclid=IwAR3X0awmzHkJRfAXPWpwhoAuojXKXaixgKMYGpP8Giq7SwV6eHj5GrA_QWQ
  23. I thought better of Mehdi Hasan. I have no use for the rest of the Intercept team but I have liked him.
  24. I know Biden is older but I remember that 2012 debate where he wiped the floor with a much younger Paul Ryan. Bernie launched attacks on Biden in the second half of the debate but they really didn’t stick IMO. And Biden committing to 4 years of college for family incomes under 100k a year and adopting Warrens bankruptcy bill are big takes. I thought Biden was sharp, a big question for many. The biggest take is Biden committing to choose a woman for his running mate and Supreme Court Justice.. Smart politics and solidifies the suburban woman and yes WoC vote. I’m shocked Bernie didn’t match that. I watched that CNN town hall with Biden about 2 weeks ago(seems longer) and that really resonated with me. He was on point and showed his knowledge, compassion, and empathy. It changed my mind on him.
  25. Have they actually determined you can get re-infected?
