  1. It’s all the above for me. There’s one root problem, the writers. It all starts on the page. These writers have to get back into focusing on the characters journey and not writing to the loudest fanbase. Kendall had a special needs child, right? I thought that was interesting and a courageous move by the show. She still could’ve ran [!@#$%^&*] in Pine valley for years. I don’t think AMC gets enough praise for what they were doing with Stuart, Lily, and Spike.
  2. I wouldn’t say I hated them. I enjoyed them around the time Greenlee confronted Kendall at thanksgiving up until the satin slayer. They did have good chemistry and looked good together when he had a haircut. It was just I never understood the character of Zach. They didn’t do a good jo at defining him. Outside of his forced relationship with Myrtle I didn’t know much about him.
  3. Thank you for this. This is the first I heard of that! I guess I do like McTavish after all, I agree with her on all those couples. Noah and Julia is the one couple from this show I just couldn’t get into. Btw, Julia should’ve stayed a bad girl. Okay let’s say the majority wanted Edmund with Maria. I still think putting him with Brooke was the better story beat to play. Agnes said make them wait............ @Pine Charlesi have always resented Maria. Eva was a decent enough actress, gorgeous, and the character had a well done introduction. But the leading lady treatment almost from the beginning was a turn off for me. It wasn’t earned. I did like her though. @All My Shadowsyes, I’m all game for a bill bell style pine valley. But Amc worked best with a mixture of slow and fast storylines. Some of these “should haves” come from the a lot of lost moments from it being too fast paced even in the 80s. @FrenchBug82I’m not sure when I was just taking a guess.
  4. That’s exactly who tamera Braun needed to come in as. If the show was gonna do the first daytime same sex wedding, it needed to epic. A slow burn reconnecting romance of them two just in time for the 40th. Ugh! You can reinvent the entire show now we them as in laws. my show left the airwaves too soon.
  5. I agree with that. I don’t think she’s grown that much. She’s still very entitled!
  6. It would have nice to see Michelle Pfeiffer get an Oscar nod.
  7. Yes, they definitely manipulated that situation. Which is why Becky left!!
  8. Brooke and Barbara were Erica’s only worthy opponents. Natalie could have grown into a third opponent, if they kept writing her the same. Maria never measured up! I was always rolling my eyes when they argued especially at wildwind. It wasn’t just that she was a goody goody, she just never carried the weight and history that I felt was needed for those storylines. Imagine Brooke getting knocked up with Dimitri’s baby and Erica kidnaps the child. I believe the audience would be much more torn about the situation, because Brooke wasn’t a saint and the ladies had a very complex relationship. It makes the storyline more interesting imo. Both characters needed each other to survive, I figured TPTB knew this until Barr was let go/asked to go recurring. The show missed so many opportunities, to usher Brooke back onto the canvas, in a big way before Adam’s exit storyline. I’m just glad she got to come back and have decent story and fun moments with Erica before the end. And I agree about Dixie screwing over Brooke twice. I guess that’s why the push her with tad instead of going all the way with the Edmund romance the first time around. By that time I was rooting for Brooke to finally get her fairytale wedding too! I don’t know how early Eva and John started dating but I’m sure their behind the scenes romance influenced them getting the super couple treatment.
  9. Me too! Julia would have rocked that role. Tbh, after everything they put her through and took from the character. I could buy Brooke losing her grip on reality for awhile. I remember that storyline, and I remember rooting for Janet too. I didn’t like them putting Brooke in that situation. I had fallen in love with Janet’s new family unit. Brooke needed to be across town adopting Kelsey baby with Edmund!!!! @KMan101 I pretty much agree with everything you said. You’re right, Skye was good on GH but she belongs in PV! @Soaploversyea I know, I’m saying she never should have came back. It was plenty of ways to keep her connected that’s also why she always needed more family members. I would have actually wrote a short story of how her friends feel disconnected and/or cut off from her. If they would have kept all the big business in NYC Erica could still bump into old neighbors. They had the teens running to the big Apple every year what if they ended up at Erica’s?!
  10. @KMan101Yes, I felt the same way about those . Agnes had the magic touch in building rootable characters. I’m curious to know their Q ratings and why some of them were let go, they all aged it pretty well too! When Jack left Erica standing in the finale I immediately knew it was a mistake to have her staying in Pine Valley all this time. I found it believable for her to still be chasing that dream but also felt the character didn’t show any real growth. Having her away in NYC for the last 20 years of the show or at least after Mona die would have changed her. And effect her relationship with her daughters and maybe even Opal. I’m definitely intrigued about her whereabouts for the prime time reboot. It’s just amazes me how AMC didn’t take advantage of their own shows history to entice future storylines. Tara is full of possibilities especially where Erica is concern. Jack definitely could have settled down with her and become the new Joe and Ruth. Yes, John James could pass as Cliff. I envision a incredible show when you add Nina to the cast in the 90s. Nina/Adam/Erica/Dimitri/Brooke/Edmund/Skye/Liza entanglements would be my main focus. If the focus groups where done by actual fans and/or the soap press I wouldn’t hate them so much. I get the purpose of them and think they could help coming from the correct group of people. I will have to take a relook at Washam’s interview. Agreed on Brian frons hate for older ladies. I wish Washam/Lorraine could have written the show at least for another decade. I noticed the changes too, I’m still rewatching that very peculiar era. by the time Tom was let go I wasn’t against it at all.
  11. This!!!! And don’t forget Tad andTed it was too much all in one era. @KMan101 Major missed opportunities too. By the 90s they knew it was no chance in ever getting Bergman back, so why not kill him off and have Nina back permanently. We could’ve had Nina thrive in the business world like I always wanted, Adam could have swept her off her feet and fell madly in love with her. I never liked him with Liza TBH. Yep, the show always had a large female ensemble, all those women needed to still be driving story in the 90s. Career driven women was the thing that hooked me. Nobody at ABC ever got what made AMC tick, they turned that show into a generic Days of our lives, and left it like that into the end. You know when McTavish was building The Montgomery clan, I was all for Tara crashing back into town to snatch Jack away from Erica. Only to bring things full circle and remind Erica who the heck she was. Erica never addressed things I believe would really bother her: almost everybody left Pine Valley but her. Hayley is off living the celebrity life she always wanted. Erica never should’ve stayed in PV.
  12. I mentioned before how the Natalie in the well story turned some viewers off from the show a few pages back. My grandfather (who only watched two soaps) loved AMC for 4 reasons the comedy, the beautiful STRONG women, the fast pace, and that it was the most unsoapy soap to him(his words not mine). He had a few buddies that also watched the show, and he has told me how all of them slowly but surely stopped watching before Erica even kidnaps Maria baby. @All My ShadowsI love those ideas for Josh. I loved the character of Josh and adored the actor. These ideas would only intesify those feelings. @KMan101 I just wet to YouTube and type in Cliff and the first clip that comes up is a scene with him and Joe. The idea of him being Jeff just makes me sad as if the show is still on. Pairing Nina with the son of the working class family just makes all the sense to me now adds weight to that couple. So many what if’s? Are Going through my head as I write this. I don’t believe Nina was played out by ‘89 it was them as a couple so I agree she has much more life to live! Don’t get me started on the treatment of Brooke. It upsets me me to no end to rewatch her scenes from the 90s because they didn’t know what to do with her. She got some powerful moments, things could have panned out better for her if they kept her in the wild wind/Erica orbit. A lot of the stories they gave to Maria had Brooke’s name written all over it. Maria definitely could have been brought in much later as a spoiler. I remember loving Kelsey and the gang. Giving the Martins a black sheep was a genius move imo. This show works best with characters that have a underdog narrative. If the TPTB didn’t work so hard to change this show into something it wasn’t. All the storylines write themselves and probably would still be on the air. @FrenchBug82 Oh I adored Mattson’s Complex Janet but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t delightfully excited to watch Kate Collins 2006 return as Janet. It was something very Days of our lives about it, in a good way.
  13. Kendall just never lived up to her potential. I wanted so much for that character and TPTB failed us all. She needed more of Erica’s Glamour, a sexier love life, bitchier Storylines. I do believe Kendall needed to be one of the leads of this show, she just didn’t have the right storylines to support that. 2008 was the perfect time to revamp the character and the canvas, they didn’t so we missed out.
  14. Huge Brandy and Eve fan here so I’m looking forward to this.
  15. @wingwalkerI totally agree with that. Yes it was a very short run but very effective, I appreciate the new spin on the who’s the daddy storyline with them as well. Too bad neither actor has shown up on another soap.
  16. RIP Gil Rogers, I would say Ray was AMC’s scariest villain ever. He did a phenomenal job! Sometimes I wish Agnes actually paired Jesse and Jenny just so I could see Ray act a complete fool.
  17. Yes! Yes! Yes! You nailed it! I love Agnes but I do believe that’s a main reason she couldn’t hold on to a lot of her young talent. Love and marriage isn’t meaty enough for me to stick around for decades. Sybil should have always been a threat especially having Cliff’s child. I don’t think they explored Nine enough in the business world. I had hopes to see her conquering that world the same Erica and Brooke did in their fields. Of course struggling in the beginning because it was a boys club. I agree about Cliff not having family besides his sister small stint. I wonder why Agnes dropped her decision in making him a Martin. Being a martin already give me story possibilities, and would give Ruth and Joe something gritty to play. Imagine Tad the Cad coming between! I always wanted them to play on Tad’s insecurities of being adopted and not being a Doctor too. This would have been a great way to bring it out.
  18. They all look so good. I wish Constance never stopped acting, I wanna see her play a bitchy matriarch.
  19. This sounds awesome to me, I have never thought about them together before, but might’ve worked just off from their families history. These are the type of stories I watch for, miss me with the lovey dovey Disney fairytales. @Jonathan Okay, I have no problem with recasting Cliff for a short arc so Nina can get her life in Pine Valley without Cliff. I wish someone would post the Kitty/Kelly storyline. Also, I wanna see Jesse Brother causing trouble for the hubbards.
  20. This!!! They definitely were played out. I always wanted to see Nina get more into Cortlandt business. I don’t understand her not being brought back even just for small stints. Let’s say she stayed long term in 95, who would you pair her with? Maybe test her with Jack anything to get him away from Erica. imagine Nina and Tad having affair?Or even having her fall for her bestie(Brooke) Fiancé Edmund?! I live for scandalous stories like that! Why not test her morals have her be the spoiler for once. Accurate. It was all those ingredients that made you root for them. Palmer was the selling point for me. @titan1978 and don’t fell alone I was never a fan of the piece of wood that is known as Peter Bergman.
  21. that didn’t come out right. I was asking was beverlee the original Lucci? Being the highest paid, wanting to do a TV movie every year.
