Seth would have been the perfect guy to have come out and be gay...his story was perfect..the nice responsible big brother who had to take care of his family and they came first so he never had "time" to date. Deep down he is struggling but his focus is on his family and when he thinks about it he dismisses it..he has to be the role model and stable person, he figures he is a good farm boy not a wild promiscuous partier so of course he could NOT be gay. That would have finally made him interesting and gave him a purpose.. I always kept an eye on things in Oakdale...I just didnt watch it daily like I did from like 1980 on to when Marland really got morose and his characters boring. What...91...maybe? At that time GL finally grounded itself from being the Reva Show and it had family, business, mysteries, and characters who had fun and good characters who actually were interesting and were allowed to be bitchy and snarky about other good characters. Everyone in Oakdale was sooooooo, serious and earnest all the time. I actually started watching full time with..dont hate me..Sheffer, but after that first year it started to stink.

Yes, first Tad was younger and hotter.. I could see Iva and Betsy falling for him. Larry Pine was like..somone's gross dad..kinda skeevy. Now if they were trying to go for Iva having daddy issues...(which I could believe...) Yes, I always thought Seth was gay..especially since he was Marland's stand him for himself. The other gay one was Caleb.. God. watching Betsy and Seth was like watching paint dry, but not as bad as Seth and that "vixen" Frannie with a wig and glasses, I mean Sabrina. I qut watching ATWT and went to GL as ALL of Marland's good people..outside of the vets..were as dull as hell.

I liked her MUCH better then mentally challenged Betsy played by Ryan. It was weird that Betsy gained a few feet and a brain and all that was supposedly done was plastic surgery. And YES to end of flare nostrils Steve...though I think years later his return as an arrogant pr*ck villain would have been great...maybe a Evil Steve instead of Evil Craig during Sheffer.

That movie was awful!!! They should have had CLC on the real show as vilainess, or someone who thought she was Wondy. Yes, Lyle was duller then dull can be...They cut his time on the show to just making phone calls to Diana...and who can blame them? I see your pic of Steve and Jaime....its funny, WW aged much better then Bionic Woman....maybe its the clothes...Diana's fashion choices were classics and Jaime always looks like she is going to a macrame class. And Steve Austin was smoking hot until the last season where he got a porn stash and started looking cheesy..okay, I tried to get it back to ATWT.

"The part of Steve Trevor is now being played by Ted Shackelford or Dack Rambo..or really anyone but Lyle Waggoner!" I love the clip above...I notice that in the shot you can clearly see the crew, or some people in the park beyond the trees...one of the many times Diana picks to most open places to do her turn..and yet, no one sees. On to ATWT ..the guy who played Stefano on Days died and they did a tribute yesterday and I havent watched Days in years but they seem to still have a lot of vets...it made me nostalgic...anyone know how our old vets are doing?

The actor who played Stefano on Days died in December, and yesterday they had a tribute for him, by having old footage of the actor in character in jail, while his various victims over the years come and confront him. At the end, after everyone is gathered and talking about what happens next, we see that he escaped his cell, as per usual (I would preferred they also have him leave a note per Hannibal Lecture "I have no intention of returning to call on all of you good people again, I trust you will do me the same honor..I am on to new horizons...as the Phoenix Always Rises!!!") It was a nice tribute...do you think that GL could have done something like that with Roger/Zaz. a last confrontation with Holly, Blake, Ed, Alex and Alan? Then of course Roger has again escaped. A what could have been if PG and MADD that freaking old cow, had some class and cared.

Hated LA so wrong for WW..and have a Cagney and Lacey boss and that kid who was trying to mimic Different Strokes was just ...desperate..(though the episode does have one of my favorite scenes, where the villains "guard lion" he releases to kill her is instead turned in a domesticated kitten by her animal empathy, and she tells him instead to watch the bad guys she got so far, and when she comes back..."The two of us are going to have a discussion on your behavior!" and Carter, doing this all in spangly hot pants number, makes it all seem natural. To bring it all back to soaps, Carter had tons more of chemistry with Ted Shackelford in his episodes then she ever did with LW..plus TS looked like the comics Steve and he was sexy as hell back then. Last post ATWTs on this....I swear!

Amazing as the Incredible Hulk is so boring and morose..it comes on Saturday nights on ME TV right before WW...(yes, I lead a very edgy life..we go out to pub and get hopped up and then come home to make dinner and watch WW!) LW..while quite the DILF was too old to play Steve, both in WW2 and especially in the 70's....(Steve's kid would have to be in his 30s and LW was in his mid 40s) and he was dull as dull can be..but I felt he had good "friend, boss" chemistry with Carter when they wisely took out the love angle in the 70s.. I did read she wanted his role lessened as she felt he brings down the energy..(he does) but Steve should always be there. I don't know why they didn't take advantage of the switch to the 70s and bring in a younger more energetic guy to play Steve Jr but I guess he had a contract. Plus if you watch the last episode when they tried to save the show by moving her to LA with a fat grumpy boss (by that time they essentially gave up..Diana would go around with no glasses and WW hair and no one even mentioned it...) it was time to say goodbye. I dont know why the played the show so much like the Bionic Woman, she needed her enemies from the comics, like the Cheetah to spice things up. No matter how bad the show, they always got WW and Diana Prince right...no one ever treated her like a joke (ala Batman) or as a "Jiggly Babe," even the villains. Okay, sorry back to ATWT.

If only the entire show was as good as Lynda Carter as WW! I would love to see if they made the show with today's budget and writers and a young Carter..though now WW would have to have an "edge" and it would be dark and we would loose the WW Diana Prince end credit smile once everything was put right!

I think that is all that needs to be said about that particular promo! But damn it, it made me have to watch it again!! I love that they threw them playing basketball and boxing gloves to let us know that , no, no, these guys are all men!!! Damn, I would love to have heard what Eplin and the guy who played the lawyer with the deep voice had to say about this!!!

Glad you came to your senses! : ) I know a lot of people on ATWT hated him but they didn't like the AW characters coming in, but I thought he fit well in Oakdale and Eplin had chemistry with everyone he worked with, the ladies of course and guys (It seems to be hard for soap actors to have any kind of chemistry with another on screen guy, if they are friends it comes off as stilted and wooden..see VI....but maybe its that soaps dont know how to really write guy friendships...) Also, I have heard people say.."What happened to Eplin, he got so fat.." I thought he looked better with a bit of weight on him. What ever happened to him?

LOL..that was part of the show? Not a bad commercial? This is the height of a soap trying to be "cutting edge!" and failing miserably. DAM was so hot, I hate that he got stuck in dumb roles..I like his Edmund on GL but I think I and most of the viewers hated San Crud so much that we coudln't over look that. I thought it would would be cool to make Eddie the first gay villain on soaps...(I remember Carmen breaking into his apartment and looking at his tapes or CD and saying "Edmund..just WHAT do you like to watch in your sparetime," and I thought for sure she would have some blackmail material on him but no..this was MADD and Rauch and a gay villain would have been too cutting edge. I always thought Eplin was hot..in a real "guy" kind of way and not the usual pretty boy model type soaps push. And JFP did the all male episode bachelor party first on GL, with Hamp's bachelor party. I remember VI trying desperately to act human and "buddy like" and it was so uncomfortable for him and the viewer!

Nosy Nola was like Buttinsky Lisa on ATWT, she could have fit in with anyone even if she wasnt the lead in the story. As mentioned above this was just before the Haunted Cottage story and it was weird to give that to boring Annabelle...and Hot Tony. Its weird that she and Reva werent friends , you would think that the Clothes Horse Wild Woman would be friends with the Eccentricly dressed former bad girl who still gets into trouble Nola. Even better would have been Nola and stuck up India as weird friends. Ah well, if we could have written the show at that time.

They actually did make Quint a professor at the college...and they had that dumb storyline (or sorts) with a student chasing after him...but it really wasnt much of a storyline. I just think Quint is one of those characters who was created for a specific reason and ran on too long. Maybe a writer could have brought more depth to him but he was just a kind of stiff, intelligent guy who loved Nola and ...that was that. It would have been interesting to see him develop a shade of grey like his sister...( I think he had more of an edge during Marland...) maybe Henry could have one of his innumerable heart attacks and while he is recovering leaves his Spaulding stock to him instead of Van, etc. I do think the Haunted Cabin storyline should have gone to Nola and Quint, with him first skeptical but then bringing in some tech to see what is going on etc. I also think they "de-sexed" the two of them as soon as they got married and she had kids, etc. They just should have gotten rid of those damn ascots!!!

I remember thinking the same thing, Nola should have been having the visions, and with her being Nola no one would believe her. Tony and Annabelle could have still owned the cottage and the triangle with her and his brother could have continued. I don't think a storyline with psychic things was necessarily bad on GL..but a bit more subtle...(start with Nola having bad feeling and then seeing things out of the corner of her eye..) I would have toned Ms. Piper down or had her move from LA or someplace...(it made no sense that she lived in mid western SF. all this time and no one seemed freaked out by her.) And of course, I would have had the pay off be something better then the dumb thing that happened..

In Long's defense I think she did a great job on the Reardon's for the first year or two. They seemed like a real family...(and she transitioned the Irish Reardon framily from Marland's typical waspy Protestant to Catholic..) and she did a great job on Nola's wedding and the little touches...(I remember the bridesmaids getting ready in the Church basement, complete with vollyball net, etc, much to Van's dismay.) Something just happened and her writing on the abruptly changed. And yes, Tony Reardon was HOT. I never understood why they didn't make Nosy Rosy Nola a reporter..I hated Jay Hammer's Fletcher but a triangle with Quint her and a hot reporter would have been good. I don't think Quint was made to be a long term character. He was too stylized for GL and he instead of Hillary should have been killed in the cottage bomb which would open Nola up for more stories. I actually don't think it was Reva who watered down Vanessa but actually Alex. I think they thought she took over the aristocratic rich, driven. "botch" role and left Van with nothing to do. I think Long's second tenure she got Van right...not a bitch or a wimpy wife to Billy but a strong woman with her own identity.

Thanks! Good question. I see Hope as a more conflicted woman then the Hope we saw...not bad...more sophisticated and not so sugary sweet. A woman who wants to live up to her grandmother's legacy but can't seem to do so and is frustrated by that. She would be an overachiever...(having a dad like Mike would make you that way and could explain the alcholic thing..) and I would have her created a successful design company in NY, and she returns home to follow a romantic notion of recapturing her youth as the Bauer Princess, and to raise her son as she was raised in a small town surrounded by family and friends, and with Alan "Dead" or missing, she feels safe coming home. But then life...and Alan gets in the way, and Alex uses her in her ongoing struggle with Alan, with Mike getting involved....Again, thinking she was going to become the heart of the family and community but pulled into a different direction because that is just not who she is. Ironically, I think Rick, when played and written well, was really the one who could become like his grandmother, he was always a big mensch! For Mike, I don't know. I do know that I would have screen tested and gotten the approval of Bev as I would make him the real love of her life eventually, they just can't seem to agree on anything. I actually think Raines would have made a better Mike but I don't know if he would have had chemistry with Bev.. Maybe Jed Allen???

Bert's death and funeral were the perfect time to turn the ship around and reintroduce some Bauers. I would have recast both Mike and Hope (sorry, ER never did it for me..) especially with Alan headed back to town. Mike could have gotten with Alex and Hope with Ross..both enough to bug Alan. I would also have brought back Meta, and all this could have been handled as they came back for the funeral and decided to stay (I would have had Bert leave Hope her house in her will, a house which Hope always thought of us "home" and Mike would decide to represent Ed and Mo in the custody of Michelle.) Meta would have taken over the Boarding House so she could dispense advice to all the newbies who would invariably live there. I am one of the few that like the Nursery Stalker Story Line..sure it was a stretch but I liked it and Holly didn't do anything unredeemable...( I think Days got the Salem Stalker idea from this.) But it just ended...(with her brother no less wandering around the woods never to be heard from again.) and we were thrust into San Crud. Some people wanted Ed to be the one who talked Holly off the cliff, er bridge, but I thought that it made sense for once for Reva to be the hero..she was there before, she knew what it was like. People keep forgetting, Bill Bauer had an boy with Simone..so a new side of the family would have made sense that way...( I think a hot guy, maybe a cop, could have been involved with Reva at the time she was involved with that goofy doctor/spy guy.)
