This morning I exchanged messages with one of the writers who were on the GL writing team with PM. She said she will love him forever & that he is brilliant & funny & he gives his all to both character & to story. She also said GH is lucky.

Here we have 1993 & Roman & John's conflict is very well expressed. No one is a jerk. And, the concern gets back where it belongs which is on Carrie.

I agree with this, but they always write against her. I think y'all are arguing against definition. Esme is interesting only because she is a villain & as a villain she cannot be the young female lead. Trina is interesting in several ways but most important is the romantic storyline. Joss is interesting because she's Carly Jr. & she's with mob enforcer Sexy Dex. Willow is interesting because of Nina being her mother. Joss has a secondary interest in the Adam story. Trina has other interest in Art & Ava & Portia's family. No question to me at this time, Trina is the young female lead. And, Trina also is the only one with mainstream media attention.

Someone should tell him that neither Frank nor ABCD likes it when people talk about roles that way.

I found it amusing that she said she told him, "Do with me what you will." Boy, he took that to heart!

Marlena tells Roman all she needs is him & challenges him to show her that he loves her. They make love & sleep in the same bed. 12-16-91 Day 24 (1-22-24) A day about Xmas trees. OG Roman is not a jerk, still not. John was kinda a jerk. Isabella was a jerk but only to Victor. Lawrence visited Victor in jail & he was clearly being a jerk. Roman made pancakes but the kids just wanted to know where their dad was. Kim & Kayla & Shawn come over & bring a big decorated WELCOME HOME cake. Shawn says how great it is to all be together. Only Carolyn & Bo are missing. They trim their tree & eat cake & tease each other & have a fine time. Kayla is bothered that earlier in the day John saw the cake & what was written on it. When they leave Roman & Marlena's place they go buy another cake & take it to John & Isabella's & they decorate a tree there, too. Well the other day, they made a point of Trina telling that next year will be her senior year, so maybe they are. Although that's not conclusive. Could be 20. But if they're juniors they've gotta be at least 20, I would think. I was surprised to learn they are in their junior year.

P&G didn't even begin to divest themselves of household domestic products until 2000 & that would be the first they'd have seriously thought about not having soaps to advertise those products on. I don't believe that there was any interest on their part in getting out of soaps "for years". If that were so why did they fight tooth-and-nail so hard with NBC trying to keep AW on the air? And, AW's end was end of June 1999. CBS pulled the stunt in public in 1995 & there was fall-out from it in 1996. P&G continued to have the position MADD held, Exec in Chrg of Production until ... well after 2000, I'd have to look it up. So, you're saying I make no sense. Right back atcha. And, when this stuff happened 95/96 it was right after P&G had two old-timers retire, which is why CBS thought they could pull a stunt & get P&G in a disadvantageous position. Peacock? Peapack NJ?

Maybe you are unaware of this but he is one of the top choices among most fans for getting rid of! Me, I could live & let live if they would just free Liz from him. Yesterday Liz was asked what was new with her & her reply was information about Finn.

Michael Easton wasn't on the primetime special because he had a schedule conflict.

First CBS asked Bill Bell in public to create a new soap to replace GL. Bill Bell wisely stayed out of it. P&G and CBS fought until they reached the point that P&G said do anything as long as you don't cancel us & CBS handed down changes to both ATWT & to GL. For GL that's where the "new production model" came from. However, at the same time budgets were slashed & CBS didn't assist in implementing, so GL was on their own. That's the nutshell version. If Ellen Wheeler had not done what she did, GL would've been off the air 4 years before it was.

Given that the two main storylines were Otalia and Jami that is so hard for me to hear. But, anyway, that's not the reason I am posting. It matters how long a character was written a certain way. It matters quite a bit. Who knows how many viewers know a character this way compared to the OG way. So, if you're in a position to "write" some wrongs, this is a big part of your challenge & that takes us right back to where we are now, what we hope for Carly under PM.
