Oh dear, it seems Malcolm's stint is over. So in one day, Holden discovers he's Malcolm's son, get's tested and gets the negative results. Right... So the story is Malcolm's doctor asks who could be a match and he says Lily, conveniently forgetting she has children, thus forcing Stephanie to reveal Holden's paternity. Then voila, he remembers the twins and hope is renewed. So off on the Winter's jet to tell the rest of the story offscreen. Stephanie spent ALL DAY in an empty coffee shop. Well any hopes we had that Josh wouldn't balls this up have been vanquished. We know return to The Young and the Vegas.

Some of the outfits Lauren wears definitely give off Hayley vibes.

You do if P&G are paying for it! Was watching Abbott Elementary and Janeen and Gregory were moving into their new apartment. There was a big Wayfair box onscreen and Janeen commented on how efficient Wayfair was in delivering some furniture. At least Samantha didn't have to plug Tide in the dialogue.

Nate was at GCAC with Malcolm, Devon and Lily but they didn't have a one on one. They are pressed for time with Shemar's appearances and the fact that Nate and Malcolm look roughly the same age probably factored into ignoring that relationship.

Roy Winsor, creator of Search For Tomorrow, Love of Life, Secret storm and Ben Jerrod, writer for Somerset and Another Life wrote 3 mystery novels in the 70's.- ALL: Soap Actors/Writers and also Authors
I was thinking fiction but we can include memoirs also.- ALL: Soap Actors/Writers and also Authors
Eileen's books were all co written with Robert J Randisi who probably did the actual writing with Eileen adding name value and advice on soaps. According to Wikipedia Randisi authored more than 650 published books and edited more than 30 anthologies of short stories. Booklist magazine said he "may be the last of the pulp writers." For more than three decades starting around January 1982, he had at least one book published every month. In 1984 he wrote 27 books in 12 months. He collaborated with Eileen's husband actor, and poker commentator Vince Van Patten on "The Picasso Flop" and 'The Judgment Fold." Van Patten qualifies as a soap actor as he was on Y&R briefly.- BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
Yes to all of this. It may still happen and I like using Laura for this. Nikki/Victor, Doug/Julie, Mac/Rachel etc were all divorced at one point with the possibility of re-uniting.- ALL: Soap Actors/Writers and also Authors
Reading about Jon Lindstrom publicizing his second novel got me to thinking about soap people in front of, and behind the camera who are/were published authors., before, during or after their soap stints. Have any posters read a book authored by someone with a soap connection? Of course the late great Henry Slesar comes to mind. As well as writing Edge of Night for many years and SFT, OLTL etc his novel The Grey Flannel Shroud was an Edgar winner and he published a number of other novels and heaps of short stories for Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine. Let's get a definitive list here.- Y&R: April 2026 Discussion Thread
Another day focussed on Malcolm/Stephanie/Lily/Holden with an added dollop of Traci doing Traci. It feels like a proper soap and not some pale imitative mish mash. Am I missing Billy, Victor, Jack and Patty, Nick the druggie etc ?NO!- BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
I guess it could be interpreted that Shanice's 'tude hides a lot of insecurities and that she feels confident at work but not so much with personal stuff.- Y&R: April 2026 Discussion Thread
But this is an ongoing problem. CL is lucky if there's one customer and a staff member endlessly wiping tables. Bringing back Amy was pointless as they decided to kill off her son. Now Nate and Holden can compare stories on finding out they have half siblings. They would have been better recasting Olivia. Although in Josh's world she would have to give up medicine to become a businesswoman. Just thinking how Josh is using illness as a plot device. Cole, Amy and now Malcolm. If only they hadn't saddled BF as Cane. Way too much story baggage. BF could have been a new character not weighed down by 3 unseen children, dead twin brother and sister, horrible parents, cheating behaviour, criminal connections etc.- Y&R: April 2026 Discussion Thread
The scenes at Crimson Lights-empty as usual, which distracts me, especially when they deliberately use wide shots to show this up. But then when they returned to the scene there were a couple of extras. One had take out and departed.Huh? Why not sit that extra down at a table and add some atmosphere? Strange... Later on, it was back to being empty. Somehow CL misses out on extras. They set up an area near the entrance of GCAC for Malcolm and Lily to chat. Always nice to have a different area on a set. The Malcolm story is moving along quickly thanks to Shemar's limited availability but Y&R w/o all the current stories has already improved ten fold. Lessons to be learned.- Y&R: April 2026 Discussion Thread
I'd be OK with some Olivia appearances - a good recast would be fine. Malcolm recast was a different story. Shemar was a hard act to follow and casting Darius was a head scratcher.- Dynasty Discussion Thread
Guess Jaclyn had a warehouse full of wigs and thought she'd offload them on Cheryl. Interesting that neither Jaclyn or Cheryl turned up on Dynasty or The Colbys. Did either of them do Hotel?- BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
Agree. Ted/Shanice would be more interesting if she maintained her boss attitude to some extent. Agree. They are a sexy twosome who need something to shake them up.- Y&R: April 2026 Discussion Thread
Of course, the other problem with the story is that once the reveal happens Malcolm will head out of town and never be seen again. Joining the missing parents club- see Joanna, Olivia, Doris, Lydia, Tara, Yolanda ...- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos

It was like a breath of fresh air having Malcolm and Stephanie appear. It suddenly felt like Y&R and not cartoon corporate wars. Not a fan of another paternity reveal but at least it will solidify Holden's place on the show. Both he and Audra are interesting characters despite some awful writing along the way. Malcolm's last 2 appearances have been under sad circumstances but Shemar seems to play him like he's on SWAT. Not a smile or any lightness at all. Today's episode made me think if they pivoted away from the business stories , backburnered a few worn out characters and managed a few extra sets, there might be some hope for the show yet.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

I believe Gene was on the show 58-59. Van and husband Paul moved to New York. Paul was presumed dead in a plane crash, This was when the show expanded to 30 min. Widow Van got a job at an ad agency that sponsored Starship, a variety show, Noel Penn was the exec producer.- Dynasty Discussion Thread
I think Joan was savvy enough to know all the publicity around a new rival for Alexis was good for the show and that the writers wouldn't downgrade her character. It was good to have someone new to play off as the Alexis/Krystal/Blake shtick had grown tired.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
ATWT went through a similar culling process to the point that at one stage the only Hughes onscreen were Bob and Tom. However, unlike GL, ATWT had the Stewarts and David, Ellen, Dee and Annie were still featured prominently. And you had Kim. John and Lisa still in the mix. Whereas GL was a one family show and the other long running characters didn't have the same connections eg Barbara had no children onscreen, nor did Steve or Adam. Sara was probably the most viable charcter but marrying Adam was adead end and they weren't much interested in Tim once Kevin Bacon left. Maybe Katie could have been used to build a family around. Instead of the Reardons, the Parkers could have been the working class family, like what Y&R did with Paul. Floyd, Katie and some other siblings, a mother running a boarding house and a long lost dad etc. - ALL: Soap Actors/Writers and also Authors
