  1. ABC really outsmarted itself marking The View as specials. Good for B&B. It's having a (relatively) great fall. I guess we'll see how it fares until Luna comes back. Odd that none if its big 5 of the past decade (Hope, Steffy, Brooke, Ridge, Liam) are driving story at the moment. Looks to be the worst hold yet for BTG vs its lead-in in W18-49, falling below 2/3rds for the first time. Also fell below The Talk for the first time in W25-54. On the bright side, it had its best retention in that demo from B&B in weeks.
  2. I assumed the actress was in her late 20s when the show started. Even then she seemed too young for Ethan to refer to her as Aunt Sheridan. Not to mention being best friends with Princess Di!
  3. I could be mistaken but I thought Valley's Jack was divisive at first because his stoic take was so different than Ashford's more comedic character. If we're counting actors who replaced unpopular recasts I remember Lisa Brenner being well liked as Maggie on AW taking over for Jodi O'Keefe (who went on to a good career after). In the category of returns after a long gap Mark Collier as Mike on ATWT & Wendy Moniz as Dinah on GL qualify. For quick turnaround recasts, Windsor Harmon was accepted quickly as Thorne. No offence to those 4 or 5 Jeff Trachta truthers who protested the studio.
  4. Absolutely, it was an amazing performance. Joining 24 in season 5 was a great career move: - Connie Britton went on to Friday Night Lights the next season -Jayne Atkinson stayed on for a few more seasons then went on to a solid career (House of Cards, Criminal Minds) -Stana Katic got Castle a few years later -And the strangest, Brady Corbet who played Britton's son went on to direct the Brutalist
  5. Probably because its more of what we've seen from the show since it returned from its Labor Day week break. Falling behind The Talk in W18-49 again. Even in W25-54. Demo growth when its lead-in grew but lackluster holds of 73 & 71%. Up until the said break its demos and retention rates were much better, with similar viewer numbers.
  6. Thanks for letting me know about this, it has a good cast and interesting premise. Did you enjoy it? I think Boss is the only Starz drama I've seen.
  7. Tichina Arnold has a perfect record on broadcast, with a hit every decade. Martin in the 90s, Everybody Hates Chris in the 00s and The Neighborhood in the 10s.
  8. Is Remy going to be texter who hit "Luna"? He filled in for Luna as the psycho last year around this time last year when they rested the character for a few months. The lengths the show goes to avoid mentioning RJ in connection to Luna is comical. Half the episode was talking about Luna causing bad PR for Forrester. Yet no one brought up that she was dating Ridge's son during her murder spree. And oh yeah, he was an influencer who probably posted hundred of pics of them together.
  9. Wasn't this the first week of Roger Howarth on Y&R? Good week to be Michael Easton's agent!
  10. Because the topic at hand was the reason behind the repeats. I provided links by a credible source (Errol) who provided solid reasoning for it, confirmed by his sources. But believe what you want.
  11. As I said in the original post, they can just start airing the next batch after the first one. Also, Errol reported on this during the first week of repeats. https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/69077-btg-encore-discussion-thread/page/12/#findComment-2035240 https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/69077-btg-encore-discussion-thread/page/6/#findComment-2034027
  12. We also know that CBS can start airing the second batch of ordered episodes after the first one has completed airing. Enough are already in the can, the show does the Days method of production. It's obvious that the repeats have nothing to do with the limited order despite the PR spin. The major holiday pre-emptions were planned, but none of its 8 executive producers knew that the repeat weeks were coming - at least the first one. Now its being pulled on Veterans Day Eve and the day before Thanksgiving.
  13. She faked the miscarriage so when they do the autopsy on the fake Luna body it won't raise red flags. I guess the guard helped her fake it. -1 for no one at Steffy's house grilling Li if she's keeping Luna alive again.
  14. Kudos to the director, I can't think of another soap episode that looked better. The shot of Steffy & Finn zooming out from their house was amazing. This show still has its fastball.
  15. Interesting, thanks for the info on the Bell bible. Good point on Days being at its peak, but at the same time Y&R was so much stronger than B&B at the time that it still would have been a safer launching pad. Days was strong in W18-34, while the CBS shows skewed older. Either way, I'm glad it never happened. Every time I've tried to watch an 1-hour soap in the past 10 years it felt like such a slog.
  16. That's a fair point about less A-listers. Between the ones you mentioned Melissa Fumero & Justin Hartley have worked consistently too.
  17. I don't think the fragmentation of media has helped actors from soaps. Most of the big movie stars that started on soaps (Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, Robin Wright, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon) were on in the 80s when daytime was at its cultural peak. There hasn't been A-list actor from the soaps since Michael B Jordan. And he did a season of The Wire before joining AMC.
  18. There were only 14 contract players for a month or two in 1992. Between Jake and Margo leaving & Sheila and Taylor's family arriving. And that included bit players Saul & Darla. Thorne pretty much qualifies as a bit player at this point too. Wasn't the rumor that there would be a new 1/2 hour Bell show and GL would be cancelled? I'd love to know the real story there. My guess is that the Bell's business affairs people talked them out of it as it would have been a tough sell for its lucrative foreign markets. Plus in the US, GL slot was pushed to 10am in a bunch of big markets at that point. But if talks with CBS advanced there would likely have been a fight with P&G over the timeslot, as Bold would have wanted the 2pm slot rather than having ATWT as its lead-in in most markets.
  19. LMAO they didn't even bother to match the outfits. Not even the same color. When other soaps did the mid-scene switch, such as with the Babes on AMC or the hunky Jacks on Days, the recasts attempted to keep the same vibe to the character. Not the case here at all, which makes this even stranger.
  20. I could be mistaken but I think she let her face settle and then she looked pretty good for a while before she went buck wild on more procedures after that. Her 2005 return look would be just as shocking today IMO. She was such a natural beauty and when she returned she was the most plastic looking person on the show. Right or wrong, Taylor couldn't be taken seriously as a voice of reason character again for the rest of Tylo's run because of that.
  21. Why would they air a repeat on a Monday when it's usually their highest rated day?
  22. Are we in for another health scare for Katie? Steffy bringing up her heart issues seemed pretty random, let alone seeming to care about it. Steffy's been pretty chill since her return - it seems like they're trying to soften her character.
  23. Yeah, that was a big plot hole! B&B could have still done this storyline but with Caroline Jr instead of Maya. That said, Karla Mosley did a great job with the story. The Karen story on B&B was very dumb and rushed. Blake sees Caroline's portrait for the first time at Bill Sr's, and in the next episode he runs into Karen in Texas(!). Never mind that no one else seemed to know about this despite Bill being well known when it happened and it was in the papers. AW's Justine being an exact clone of Rachel. Gee, you think that would have come up. As bad as that writing was, Wyndham was epically awful and those ticks persisted until the end of the show. The only time I can remember in soaps that someone went from being a good actor to someone that Ron Moss could dunk on. The Salem Stalker rewrite (was it right before Doug was killed?) was silly even for Days. This is probably the winner though:
  24. Bold has been pretty stable in the demos this fall while the other soaps' demos have taken a dive from their summer numbers. I assume 6/7 weeks at #1 as Errol pointed out is its best run in W18-49 ever. The TPIR is having a rough fall in the younger demo while doing ok in the older one. It probably doesn't have the nostalgia cachet with GenZ like it does with Xers and Millennials.
  25. Deke & Electra's instant friendship feels like the show is dunking on us for mocking Ridge & Carter's best-friendship.
