  1. We’re so removed from the Golden Age of Soaps (or even the last time soaps were decent) that a lot of the most familiar names that come up are old as Methuselah. Wendy Riche being almost 80 still sort of blows my mind on a pure visceral level, but of course she is. She was almost 50 when she landed GH and that was 30 years ago. We’re all getting old.
  2. He will mess it up. I can’t imagine how he will dramatize this. Lots of dry expository conversations about what happened and names mentioned for characters we’ll never see.
  3. That’s a decent (old) picture of Bradley. It’s HILARIOUS how much of a bitch Liam is, and obviously the writers are in on the joke to some extent, given the comedic context of those scenes. He’s the perfect embodiment of toxic masculinity meets “soy boy.” Aside from Scott Clifton’s much-appreciated commitment to fitness, is there anything that suggests “leading man material” for this character?
  4. I don’t know why CBS has leaned into this twee indie-rock aesthetic for its daytime promos. I suppose it fits with the pharmaceutical commercial ads that surround it, but it doesn’t evoke anything sexy or dramatic or remotely soapy. It’s just so… basic. But I guess that’s fitting.
  5. LOL at this royalty-free version of The Lumineers’ “Ho Hey.”
  6. Oof.

  8. So heartbreaking. My first thoughts went to his scenes in Todd Solondz’s Life During Wartime. He played Shirley Henderson’s love interest who comes back to her in visions after taking his own life:
  9. Very interesting. LOL at the two new “hits” being The Single Guy and Caroline in the City.
  10. Do you like the older Bee Gees stuff that isn’t Alvin and the Chipmunks?
  11. The great King V!ncene:
  12. I love “Guilty”! I also loved The Bee Gees, both their early pop stuff and the disco era. This song from a few years back sort of reminds me of a Bee Gees song:
  13. I’d become obsessed with “Heartbreaker” all of a sudden earlier this year. It was never a huge radio staple when I was growing up, so it wasn’t overly familiar. Dionne was rarely one to go overboard with the melismas and hooting and hollering (like some of her contemporaries and followers), but she imbues the song with such feeling. Probably her best not written by Bacharach.
