  1. I think Taylor is your garden-variety white-girl celeb liberal, but she’s very pragmatic. She wasn’t going to let what happened to Katy Perry happen to her. She’s also performing on the AMAs, and Grammy voting season is coming in a little over a week (she’s pushing Reputation for AOTY), so there’s that.
  2. ^Yep.
  3. Just thought I’d share. Feel free to ignore. Certain sections of her fandom will be livid.
  4. Daniil Medvedev is playing the tennis of his life this year, but man did Kei look out of sorts today. Eighth straight final he’s lost since winning Memphis in 2016. Four were against Djokovic or Nadal, but the other four were against beatable opponents for him.
  5. They really should have found a sponsor (like Subaru) to run it with limited commercial interruption. But I imagine that might have been a tough sell outside of primetime?
  6. Here’s the “Coming Soon” trailer with the guest actors for the season. The new episode didn’t have opening titles, so this is the first we’ve heard of the newly arranged theme, which is very classic Who but with some powerful, militaristic drums.
  7. I think Jodie did a fantastic job. That’s the consensus I’m seeing at least. Most people enjoyed the episode a lot more than I did, though.
  8. This sort of sums up my thoughts on the premiere. And I know commercials are a necessary evil for an ad-supported network, but they really destroy the pacing of a show edited for publicly funded BBC1.
  9. I saw it. Shrug. Felt like a filler episode. (It was the second episode they filmed, and Bob Greenblatt told Mutchnick and Kohan that they should use it as the premiere because it was funnier. Yikes.) Sean Hayes is a gifted physical comedian, but the numbing face cream bit left me cold. I did see something between Schwimmer and Messing, though. I like they are leaning into Schwimmer’s unpleasantness instead of making him into this charming goof.
  10. Dimitrov has pulled out of Shanghai.
  11. Jaziri (!) beat Sascha. With Kyrgios losing to Gasquet in Tokyo, de Minaur is the new Australian No. 1. Basilashvili and Medvedev are top 30 for the first time now.
  12. Kerber has mad chopstick skills!
  13. Camila Banus (Gabi, DAYS) is on Star now.

Abby is just blah. Meghan at least has a backbone.
  15. It was a great match. Sabalenka is just too good right now, and Muguruza played really well. Ostapenko claims she had an injured wrist.
  16. Man is Sabalenka good. Muguruza played the best she’s played in a while, and it still wasn’t enough. More on the WTA/Tennis Channel deal, including the tidbit that TC offered less than 10 percent of what BeIN offered in the last bidding cycle:
  17. Woke up to see Muguruza and Sabalenka bludgeoning each other.
  18. That’s a meh from me.
