  1. An excerpt from a 1982 interview in the St. Petersburg Times from Marland: "I never would have had Luke rape Laura. My idea for that story was to have Luke worship Laura from afar. I planned for him to get into deeper and deeper trouble with the syndicate and try and try to get away from them. His reason to escape the mob: his love of Laura and his desire for her. And in the end, no matter what Luke had done for Laura---all the money he had given her, all the trouble he had gotten into [on] her behalf---she never would have loved him. I adored the character of Laura, but she was vain. Vanity was a big part of Laura's personality. Luke and Laura never would have gotten together in my storyline. I had other things in mind for Luke."
  2. Another vote for 1990-1991 first
  3. Initially it was called raped and they (both Laura and Luke) acted like it was rape and called it that. There is a scene on youtube where Luke tells Bobbie he raped Laura and used other colorful terms as well. It wasn't until they were on the run Luke tried to get Laura to admit it was seduction and not rape. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvlL9fuc_U8
  4. I read that KC gave an ultimatum: that either JK leave or she left and they choose JK because he got more fan mail, apparently. That shocked me. IA that they should've kept KC and gave JK the boot.

  8. I didn't mind the redemption of Brooke and Natalie through the 80's. It wasn't until the 90's where Janet showed up that I thought Natalie lost her spice. Brooke started to become too much of a victim around the time of the Tad/Brooke stuff and then PIerce.
  9. I agree with this, actually. I thought Gillian had a lot of potential early on, but they changed her character too much after her first year. Ditto about Budig, she came across as too brittle to me.

  13. I wasn't watching DOOL during this time, but I do like Renee from what I've seen in youtube clips, though her character seemed to change alot by the time she died. Mostly what I've heard from this time are about the two major murder stories, the Salem Strangler and the Salem Slasher, which seem to be popular amongst fans.
  14. That 1983 article is interesting seeing as I've read that to be one of the better times for DOOL from their fans.
  15. I can't remember where I read this, but I heard this Charlie didn't get along with Susan Lucci. He wasn't the greatest actor either, but he was much better looking than the Kennedy Charlie.

  17. Yeah that was them singing Though The Years at the Tad and Dixie wedding, which I remember thinking was bizarre as it had been less than a year since they had fallen in love.

  20. That was from when guest starred on ATWT before she made it big in 1984. There is a clearer version on the first page of this thread.

  23. Yes, I think you could say that, as that is where her victimization began. Though I still enjoyed Natalie up until the Trevor period, which she became even more transparent to justapost the 'crazy' Janet. Depriest did have some weird OTT plots during her brief stint, I was just assuming Khan was talking about the shift from Nixon to McTavish, as thats when AMC lost its 80s vibe.
  24. IA that 80's Natalie was more interesting than early 90's Natalie, but in terms of the show as a whole I think this might have been the beginning of McTavish's sensationalistic plots.
