GH: December 2025 Discussion Thread
Is it possible that WIllow might be faking DID or whatever? You know, like how we all know she was faking her cancer (even if the show refused to come out and say so)?

TBH, even "Sex and the City" failed to make a threesome seem sexy.

How many more times do we need to rehash THAT ordeal (for Mary Jo, and for the rest of us)?

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Let's be honest: almost anything is better than "She's the Sheriff," lol.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Scenes set inside health clubs were the same as scenes set at discotheques: they still were the same, stilted, exposition-heavy conversations that used to take place around the kitchen and coffee table. The fact that they now were occuring in public and at "trendy" places like health clubs or nightclubs had no bearing whatsoever on how the conversations were conducted - and really, ladies and gentlemen, who discusses their most personal matters with friends in places like health clubs or discotheques anyway?

All these years later, and I still want to shake some sense into that little brat.

GH: December 2025 Discussion Thread
And that would be part of the fun! Chase and Brook Lynn have been chaste from day one, living out her weird Laura Ingalls Wilder fantasy; and then along comes Drew (or Willow, or Drew AND Willow, because, hey, why not?) and now we have D.H. Lawrence in the daytime! (Of course, I'm kidding! Don't be ridiculous!)

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
There are two things that I remember about "Alice in Wonderland": 1) Donna Mills played a rose; and 2) the kid who played Alice was a royal PITA to watch. (And I was like, what, six years old at that time, lol?)

No, but at least I could pretend this show doesn't actually take place in the 1840's.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
IMO, the problem with incorporating disco - and this is true not just for ATWT, but for other shows as well - but the problem was that, because of network standards and practices being what they were at that time, no one could be completely honest about the culture. They couldn't talk about the casual drug use, the sexual hedonism or the unsavory fellas who ran many of the clubs - even GH's Campus Disco was couched in euphemisms about "The Organization," lol - so what you got instead was the same old kitchen table conversations about infidelities and paternity secrets, but with a bunch of rhythmless white folks "dancing" in the background to some Donna Summer soundalike that would be dubbed in later. Those who were on either coast and were ass-deep in disco culture probably thought it all looked false, while those who lived in flyover country took one gander and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. Similarly, any attempts to incorporate what came afterward - namely, punk and new wave - always came off as punchlines or rehashing of plots and dialogue from '50's "teens in trouble" movies.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Douglas Marland was at ATWT before moving over to GL. His was a temporary stint, however, and for reasons that have never been fully explained. I think P&G asked the Dobsons to take over ATWT for one reason: to contemporize what had become a very staid show. And I think P&G put an enormous amount of pressure on the Dobsons not just to shake up ATWT, but to emulate what was happening on the ABCD soaps as well. That's why I don't believe they were as successful at ATWT as they had been at GL, because it was too much a case of trying to imitate the competition.

GH: December 2025 Discussion Thread
First, it was Tracy and her brain-eating worms; now, it's Liz and her eyelid mites. Someone needs to take Frank aside and illustrate to him what makes for story that won't make viewers sick to their stomachs.

LOL!! So many of those fake USA movies sounded so real. I'd watch "Cheek Beat," if only because I'm a sucker for anything starring Lisa Hartman Black.

Talkin' 'Bout TV Movies
The one thing I remember most about that movie? She took a guy who dressed very conservatively...and turned him into Leo Stark.
