  1. I just hope it doesn't end with, "No, wait, THIS is who John Black REALLY is!". I've had enough of that [!@#$%^&*].
  2. I'll never forget when SOD interviewed her as part of a "Where Are They Now?" special issue. First of all, I thought it was incredible that Julianne Moore even would agree to be interviewed by SOD. Even more special for me, however, was what she said about other soap alumni who invariably tell the press how they view their soap gigs as "stepping stones" toward other, more prestigious gigs in film, theatre and TV. I'm paraphrasing, but the gist of what she said was, "It isn't a stepping stone toward other jobs, it's a job." That's why it always pisses me off whenever I hear even current soap actors say working on soaps is a great "training ground" for young actors and such. I'm no actor, but even I know it's gotta be damn hard work to go on that set everyday and try and give the best performance you can, with scripts that can vary wildly in quality, and absolutely zero time for preparation and rehearsal. As Erika Slezak says in her Archive of American Television interview, there are actors who come to daytime from other arenas who think they can do it but realize pretty quickly that they can't. And if the rest of the cast and crew have a hard time working with actors who are "green," just imagine what it's like to be one of the folks at home everyday who's watching this [!@#$%^&*]. Like I always say: "Learn how to act on your own time, not on mine." Thank you, @DRW50, for posting that video. It's always thrilling for me whenever anyone gives a shout-out to my hero, Douglas Marland, lol. I agree. I remember reading, though, how someone (Goutman?) wanted to extend her visit, and thinking, "C'mon, we're lucky she came back at all," lol.
  3. Sorry, @Franko. I couldn't remember which poster had said it before. Thanks for the reminder, though. I agree. On the other hand, I think "Manhattan Lives" had a much better chance of making it than that other spinoff featuring Tommy Horton in Hawaii ("Pacific Lives"?).
  4. Once again, Douglas Marland surrounded himself with good writers. Thanks, @dc11786!
  5. I tend to think those pairings tanked because MB tanked them himself.
  6. Angela Shapiro (?) was foolish to think Megan McTavish would be a good fit for GH.
  7. Frankly, you could put MB with almost anyone and it is bound to work on one level or another.
  8. IMO, MW's best-ever work was during her first stint (1995-1996) on ATWT, when her performances were so raw and natural that Marlena DeLaCroix labelled her as "a young Carroll Baker." It was almost as if she did not know that she was working on a soap opera. Since then, MW has done good work - on WT, then on Y&R, now on GH - but her performances also have become soapier, if you know what I mean. Often, that is due to the writing, as soaps in general really don't develop characters like early Carly Tenney anymore; but other times, I feel it is due more to Maura's acting choices. And as for Gina Toblerone? This always reminds me of that moment in "Coming to America" when...well, just watch this clip and you will know what I am saying, lol.
  9. I do not get it either, @carolineg, lol.
  10. I am not disagreeing, but mother of God, lol!
  11. Oh, I am so sick and tired of people dream-casting Gina Tognoni. Is she the ONLY actress available anymore?
  12. Generally speaking, is Frank Valentini the sort of producer who allows his actors to dictate storylines, the way past EP's at GH have? Or will Steve Burton have to "play ball," so to speak, and actually do whatever the [!@#$%^&*] is written for him to do?
  13. I agree. KL experienced very real "growing pains" during its' first 2-3 seasons, as it tried to figure out what kind of show it wanted to be. Much of what goes on during that period was ignored or forgotten once KNOTS became a full-fledged soap. Nevertheless, I would continue watching, if only to help you become further acquainted with the show's core characters. It can be a slog at times, but it will be worth it in the end.
  14. I think so. Wasn't it you who described her as "Bette Midler-like," or was it another poster?
  15. Zach Tinker is not returning full-time to DAYS. That ship has sailed.
  16. Trust me: their hearts will mend.
  17. Just in case anyone is still interested, here is my GH Cut List: (NOTE: I, too, needed to consult GH's wikipedia page, because there are just too many "losers and randos" (tm @Vee) to try and remember off-hand, lol.) Cosette Abinate (Scout) Tabyana Ali (Trina) Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) Real Andrews (Taggert) Tajh Bellow (TJ) Nicholas Chavez (Spencer) Chad Duell (Michael) Michael Easton (Finn) Scarlett Fernandez (Charlotte) Kathleen Gati (Dr Obrecht) Robert Gossett (Marshall) Tanisha Harper (Jordan) Gregory Harrison (Gregory) (Is he still around, by the way?) Carolyn Hennesy (Diane) Evan Hofer (Dex) Adam Huss (Nikolas) Josh Kelly (Cody) Brook Kerr (Portia) Michael E Knight (Martin) Jeff Kober (Cyrus) Wally Kurth (Ned) Jon Lindstrom (Kevin) Lisa LoCicero (Olivia) Jophielle Love (Violet) Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) Cameron Mathison (Drew) Sofia Mattsson (Sasha) Eden McCoy (Joss) Alley Mills (Heather) (Nothing against Mills, but Heather is so “done”) Kelly Monaco (Sam) Avery Kristen Pohl (Esme) Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn) Kirsten Storms (Maxie) James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) Josh Swickard (Chase) Donnell Turner (Curtis) Cynthia Watros (Nina) Maura West (Ava) (Fantastic actress, but for me, Ava’s story has come to an end) John J York (Mac) Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) …And whoever the hell is playing Molly Lansing at the moment. Of those that I woulc cut, I would recast: Ned Ashton Quartermaine (possibly w/ Kurt McKinney again) Kristina Davis Josslyn Jacks and Brook Lynn Ashton Quartermaine
  18. Ironically, Charity Rahmer's Belle on DAYS was pretty much in keeping with Kirsten Storms'.
  19. What did he do (besides refuse to get vaxxed)?
  20. I am not sure that I follow, @Vee. I mean, yes, he is free now to stink up one more time an already stinky GH. But is this in reference to something else? What hijinks? My only concern is how this might affect NLG and other GH cast members who, unlike Steve Burton, took COVID [!@#$%^&*] seriously.
  21. I, myself, would have loved to see Jane Elliot pop up again as Judy Trent. Yes, her storyline with (no, not that) Paul Rudd, Ted Shackelford and Joan Van Ark reeked, but I don't blame JE for that. Rudd was all wrong as Earl Trent, and Gary and Judy's affair lacked basic motivation and chemistry, too. But the scenes JE had with Donna Mills were divine and made me wish she had stayed on longer as a sparring partner for Abby. I don't know how I would have worked it, exactly, but as soon as Judy returned (freed from Earl, who literally drank himself to death, lol), I would have pivoted her away from Gary and Val as quickly as possible and paired her instead with William Devane's Greg, either pre- or post-Laura, while making sure she and DM/Abby remained in each other's orbit. (Not that Nicollette Sheridan was awful as Paige, but she just was so young and out of her league with Devane and Mills). Another way for Laura to revisit the past: Joshua rapes Cathy at a certain point. Cathy presses charges against Joshua. Laura realizes for the first time that what had happened to years ago was, in fact, rape. Laura looks into the matter privately and learns that, due to the statute of limitations, she will not be able to file charges against that artist. Nevertheless, Laura remains compelled at least to confront him. Except, when she does, she learns he is living in a hospice and (likely due to the effects of the disease) no longer remembers her. Seeing him in such pitiful shape, Laura realizes she has the justice and closure she has been looking for and walks away, never to think or see him again.
  22. Yet, here we are, saying all the time: "Where's Wayne? How come Wayne can't play Roman anymore? WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE GET WAYNE BACK ON THIS DAMN SHOW!!" I guess that explains this photo: (I mean, why is Josh there, "kissing" Deidre, and not Drake?)
