New graphics with the old theme…this is what they should have used the last few years... And the new opening….

Well day one of the Italian over….started a day sooner…instead of Monday…just dumb IMO and all American male tennis players gone..not surprised…Johnson lost….Sam Q lost…only one left is Jack Sock but I am sure he will lose tomorrow….LOL. Joker beats Murray in 3 in Madrid…but I don't think Joker played that great IMO...

I hated it. I at least want to see the world spin around and space or whatever. Only reason I loved the cornfield opening was the theme and graphics. it's too bad they never released a second version with the other characters Which one the cornfield opening or the blue/orange opening?

The tournament actually starts tomorrow…I hate that because it won't be televised on TV unless ESPN3 has it?

Yes, that's the flush opening. At the time they said that the "flush opening" was too expensive to maintain and thus they got rid of it and went to a cheap bottom of the barrel opening. I thought the opening minus the flush added some punch to the show.

I used this theme on my blog that I was doing here awhile back--do you think this version would've been suitable? SN: This YT poster has done modern version of Y&R, GL, AW, and other soap themes too. Should check them out. That probably would've been better. I did thought like the 1993 opening and it showing all the seasons. I wonder how it would've mashed up with the 1986 theme, as I hated the 89 theme of ATWT. Ive seen that closing and love it…that should have been the 2001 ending graphics with just a few nip and tucks touch ups…the music is much better than the flush but it still sounds too generic…so it would need some tuning…sounds like a version I have from a cassette I bought back in the day of soap themes. And the ONE thing I missed the most from the rest of the closings and openings was the first few seconds of the spinning sound of the globe..that was classic…One LIfe to Live tried copying it with their opening….. It was also on the oltl closing credits ….by then ATWT was almost done with on and on theme….

It reminded me too much of Y&R. Funny how years earlier I wondered how ATWT would sound with Y&R music behind their graphics….I was so use to the fast pace music. I don't recall the reaction by fans to the new music. I am sure it was discussed in the mags by fans of the show.

The flushing opening was ok ….I loved the graphics but they should have gone back to the 85 opening music with an update on it….without the flush…and by then there was no closing credits although if fans purchased the dvds you can see the closing to the flush opening….again great graphics but the theme music could have been done better.

If I had the finances I'd move heaven and earth to get ATWT back on the air somehow on another network or maybe a spinoff of ATWT with most of the characters…vets of course and those who left that Id love to see back again. I'd bring back the 1985 opening and closing with the original classic globe spinning. I can't believe I stomached all the new openings and closings from late 93 and on…..the final years were tragic…with the cornfield opening and the last season with a simple small globe with no actual music….it was just terrible.

Good question. Many believe Wendy Riche (GH) might have made for a good EP. However, I might have gone in a different direction and hired someone like Edward Scott (Y&R, B&B). And if I couldn't have persuaded Nancy Curlee (GL) to come out of retirement, or Kay Alden (Y&R) to set aside whatever issues she might have had with Scott when the two worked together at Y&R, then I might have thought outside the box and hired a novelist such as Richard Russo or Jane Smiley. After all, CBS' Lucy Johnson had wanted August Wilson to succeed Marland (allegedly) and although I'm not entirely sure that's true, if it WERE true, I think it would have been a step in the right direction. True dat. That's true as well. I mean, forget about attempting to usher in a new golden era for that particular show. You would have needed to junk about 90 percent of the regular cast AND re-revamp the entire production model (a more definite hybrid of studio and on-location taping with someone in charge who knew how to pull it together and make it more economically feasible) just to make the damn thing watchable again. I would have brought back Robert Calhoun as EP and fired Caso once ATWT became stale…..I would have rehired Susan Bedsow Horgan. I liked her ATWT….I am not sure if it would have saved the show but at least both EP and HW had history with the show.

I hope he turns it around somehow. I don't think he can have a glamorous life with his famous females and be a great tennis player. I really think thats part of the problem no matter how hard he works at being the best. He has now dropped to #35 in the world…..http://live-tennis.eu

iva and john's son right so brother to lily, rose craig and margo so many possibles ughh caseys prison pal matt could have been mj Matt was a great character…and the actor was as well…he was a fan fav and was brought back a few times but was never offered a contract…shame….I remember at the time fans speculating whose Oakdale son he was….of course the writers at the time had no clue what to do such a wasted opportunity. Matt and Casey…I think this was the last time he was seen….

Jack Sock….shakes head …another meltdown…he should've not lost that match….. Sam Q. up 4-1…was shocked….but knew that Rafa would come back and Sam would crumble….typical American male tennis….failure Surprised Berdych beat Ferrer….Berdych should always beat him since he has the bigger game but usually doesn't so it was a surprise he beat him….good for him. I guess he realizes he better get moving or he will drop out of the top 10….LOL And yesterday….Madison Keys….oye…..again failure…she should be heading towards the finals…..I don't get why she can't put it together and now she has another new coach. Although I thought Levine was an awful coach.

I noticed on the continuation of Diego's murder that Ryder Hughes played by Kerr Smith is featured with Nikki. Did FMB bring in Ryder or was he already there? I can't recall.

86 episode…Tom is still trying to get Margo to forgive him for his affair with Barbara….Gawd….Gregg Marx……Jon Hensley also doesn't look too bad ..teehee…. The wrap up of Diego….and Lily's shrieking….LOL….probably FMB only great awesome week! This originally aired on Valentine's Day in 97

After Diego's murder the ratings pretty much went down again…I believe these are the ratings during the whole Lily/Diego marriage/murder and Holden returning. This is the highest ratings FMB got during her time on ATWT. Feb 10-14, 1997 HH 1. Y&R 7.7/28 2. DAYS 5.7/19 3. B&B 5.4/19 4. ATWT 5.3/19 5. AMC 5.0/17 6. GH 4.8/16 7. GL 4.2/14 8. OLTL 4.1/15 9. I kind of loved when she said that, though... I think FMB, like so many others who came and went from various soaps in that period, had experience that could have benefited these shows, but wasn't empowered to effect lasting change. She had her strengths and weaknesses, like anyone else, but I'd have rather seen her (and her initial writing team's - Stephen Demorest and Addie Walsh were no slouches) actual vision for ATWT have played out for a reasonably measurable period of time than what followed. She should have stayed with Demorest and Walsh instead of bringing in Broderick.

After Marland passed …no one knew or had any clue what ATWT was all about. The remaining year and a half after his passing ATWT was still using Marland's outlines but the stories had no emotion or connection. The show became so stale. ATWT grew in the ratings in 97 because the awful story of Diego ended and Holden returned. After that FMB and Lorraine wrote one boring story after another. And if I remember correctly they made Kirk the killer of Diego?? Which I found absurd and just ridiculous. Behr and Lorraine tried with Andy and Denise but that story fell flat….and so did Kim's heart condition….I didn't care for that story either….and I believe they also had the whole Reid story with Julia which I thought was ok but I don't even recall how it ended…so I must have lost interest along the way. ATWT had literally lost its heart and soul without Marland in charge. And as for ART and Connor…you don't get rid of a character and actor who fans of the show have come to love and recast her with someone new who doesn't even have the mannerisms or looks or warmth of the previous actress. I still remember the day walking into my local store and picking up that SOW issue and reading ART had been fired. As a fan of ATWT and ART it totally ruined my day….Batten didn't last long though with the "Can Her" campaign.. soon she was gone. If FMB cared what the fans wanted she should have brought ART back in the role...
