Yeah, I can't see Serena losing....but look what happened today. I'm hoping for one more big upset.

Of course I was rooting for Federer but now I'll be rooting for Kei - I want to see history. On the women's side, I'm happy to see Caroline back in the finals. I'll be rooting for her to win so she can complete the comeback and win her first grandslam. I felt so bad for Peng - she was in so much pain and had to be rolled out in a wheelchair. I loved how McEnroe and Mary Carillo were just blasting the organizers during that debacle.

I loved her in that 2013 gown. And she rarely curls her hair like that and I don't usually like curly hair, but I thought it looked really good on her. That 2012 white suit was also her trying something new. Of all the years she's been to the VMA's, 2013 is definitely is my fav. LOL I like their friendship and love that they look so different from each other. "On the surface, this next performer and I are nothing alike. She's tall, blond and doesn't wear quite this much black. But we both base our art on the kinds of things that delight, terrify and confound us. And for that, I'm grateful she exists. I'm so proud to introduce -- at the beginning of her brand new era -- my friend Taylor Swift."

Great start on the pop charts! Getting more records is always nice. Yeah, that Red Carpet bodysuit was a misfire - something that rarely happens to Taylor. But there are some critics who say she oftens plays it too safe. This was a big risk for her but if she's going to do it, she might as well do it at the VMA's where you can go nuts with your outfits. If she wore something like this to the Grammys, I'd be very disappointed. I prefer Taylor playing it safe with her gowns, and dresses, and skirts. I loved the way she looked during her performance and her after-party dress. I loved her reactions to Blue Ivy. So cute. Yes, Carly told her.

What is considered "deeper"? She has lot of wonderful songs that aren't about breaking up with boys and being nasty about them. Khan gave those tragic examples of Joni Mitchell, but Taylor hasn't gone through tradegy like that. She can't possibly go through "deepness" at that level if she hasn't experienced it. Though she has written songs about other people in songs like "Ronan" (about a young boy who died from cancer) and "Tied Together With A Smile" (a girl who had an eating disorder) or "Sad Beautiful Tragic" (allegedly about her parents breakin up). "Ronan" is a song that I love but can't listen to it too often (just a couple times a year) because it gives me chills and makes me sad every time I listen to it or watch it (Taylor's on the verge of crying and looks to sad). She only performed that song once and it was at "Standup 2 Cancer" telethon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nVBsDP5DoM Ronan's parents talking about Ronan and Taylor's song: Also, I think "All Too Well" "Breathe" and "Last Kiss" are pretty "deep" for sad love songs. "I Almost Do" and "Come Back...Be Here" aren't as "deep" as those 3 songs but they're sad love songs that I just love listening to. There's a blog that does a great job at gathering information about Taylor's song: http://taylorswiftsongs2.blogspot.ca/p/song-meanings.html "Mean" was first about that critic and then it turned into an anthem for kids. And she didn't write it just because he critisized her singing, she wrote it because she thought he went overboard when the critic personally attacked her. What she says about the song: “There’s constructive criticism, there’s professional criticism, and then there’s just being mean. And there’s a line that you cross when you just start to attack everything about a person… This happens no matter what you do, no matter how old you are, no matter what your job is, no matter what your place is in life, there’s always gonna be someone who’s just mean to you. And dealing with that is all that you can control, how you handle it. This song is about how I handle it.” That was just a false rumour. I think Taylor's name was attached to that partly because Taylor said she was a fan and that she looked Joni. Taylor puts an album out every two years and tours so she doesn't have the time to be in a starring role. I don't see her taking a Justin Timberlake-like break to do movies. Thank you for your perspective.

She was bullied in middle school and has always told her fans who might be going through the same thing that it gets better and that writing things down helped her coped with it. She also likes Carly. She even brought her out to sing "You're So Vain" at one of her concerts last year. That's the analysis of the songwriter. I'm not to argue with the person who wrote the song.

It's more like "You don't like me? I don't care. I'm just going to have fun." That's the whole point of the song: "People will find anything about you and twist it to where it's weird or wrong or annoying or strange or bad. You have to not only live your life in spite of people who don't understand you, you have to have more fun than they do."

I'm impressed by how knowledgable you are about her. We disagree on a lot of things, so I hope Taylor will be that one thing we'll have in common. LOL I love her fashion too. I think most Taylor fans are fans of her and her music and not the actual genre of song/album. All her albums are successul because fans are able to connect with her songs no matter the genre. Some songs are more country-er, some are more pop, some are more pop/rock.....it doesn't really matter. I think once she's done with "pure pop," whether it be this album or the next, I'm sure she'll change a bit for future albums. Maybe she'll go in the pop rock direction - a sound like U2/Coldplay. She sings, writes, produces, plays intruments, and is the leading force of her career - she's not a puppet. She can do whatever she wants. '1989' might not break Britney's one week record, but I still think it will sell 5 million worldwide like every other album. Back to the connection thing, I don't think there's any other artist out there who connects more with her fans. We're not only fans of her music but we're fans of her, who she is as a person. She's shown time and time again that she cares about us, so in return we care about her and support her.

The record I want is Britney Spears' "Oops I Did It Again" record for highest one week sales for a female artist. "Red" got 1.2 million but "Oops" got 1.3 million. Hoping "1989" gets 1.4 million. Taylor's a Joni Mitchell fan. She even cut her hair like Joni (the bangs). Joni's fourth album was called "Blue" and Taylor's fourth album was called "Red". I like that you get her. Are you just a casual fan or do you follow her closely? I obviously fall in the latter. LOL

It's her first "official" pop album and I'm glad. They annoy me. LOL "All Too Well" is one of my top 4 songs of hers. I'm so glad she sang it at Grammys because she did it for her fans. You should try listening to all her albums. There's a ton of great non-singles - that's a reason why her all albums sell really well. Her fans really love her non-singles. Your fans will be loyal to you if you make the entire album great and not just have a couple of good songs because that's when your fans will start to abandon you.

New single. New video. New sound. New direction. New album is going to be called "1989" (her birth year) and I think the album will have an 80's sound to it hence the title. Love the new song. Taylor, Max Martin and Shellback wrote the song with Martin/Shellback producing. Mark Romanek directed the video.

Fed But that was such a great match! That 4th set was especially good. Congrats to The Joker! Glad we got a fantastic final to make up for the surprisingly uneventful French open final.

How is Bouchard overrated? She's just 20 and went to 3 straight semifinals. I don't know, I think this just the "good looking girl" syndrome (I don't think this the right word for it...I just can't think of a replacement right now lol) where people look for things/make things up so they can hate on the good looking person. I also think a lot of people mis-use the term overrated and no talent on people they don't like. I hate it when athletes are expected to do interviews right after a loss. Give me a break. Let them cool down before you shove a microphone in their face. I didn't see how she was a bitch after the match. She was naturally disappointed and that's why I saw. And I'm glad I saw her disappointment. I would want her to be upset because that was a big loss. I wouldn't want her to be all smiley and nonchalent. I expect her to be in more grand slam finals. Of course the better looking players are going to get more attention, that's just the way it goes, especially with women athletes. She doesn't sound "snotty" or "pouty" to me. She seems to be driven.

Aw, Bouchard. She totally got destroyed. But she's only 20 and is a rising star. She's made it to 3 straight grand slam semis and this was her first finals. I think she's going to learn from this and eventually pull through...I hope so. And I hope she won't be like a Caroline Wozniacki, who had so much potential but just couldn't break through, and who was also good looking blonde. How does Kvitova not have more grandslams (only 2)? Talk about a power game! I was very impressed by her play. What did Bouchard do that made her a "bitch"?

Bouchard becomes the first Canadian woman to reach a grandslam final!
-

Yeah! Milos Raonic! He became the first Canadian man in more than 100 years to reach the Wimbledon semifinals. Love Federer so I'll be rooting for whoever wins this match to win the final. And then we have Eugenie Bouchard in the women's semis. Canadian tennis is on the rise!

Was rooting for Nadal because I had money on him. But the match wasn't that great. I was hoping for another epic match between the two but Novak didn't really show up.

That was a fantastic women's final! Back-and-forth it went until Maria pulled it out in the end. I hope tomorrow will be another epic match between Nadal and the Joker.

Revenge: Discussion Thread
I agree! The finale would've been perfect if not for David being alive. That totally ruined the whole reason for Emily's revenge. I hope Conrad's not dead. Niall dies again! I knew that was coming once Barry Sloane was cast in a pilot.

"Godspeed." That was a great ending! I have to say that Henry Czerny is pretty good actor and is probably my favourite on the show right now.

Just chiming in (I don't like to read too much about the show and stay out of discussion threads - I'm paranoid that way lol) to say this last episode was fantastic! Lizzie killing Mika was definitely a jaw dropping moment. Carol has become one of the most interesting characters on the show. I have a whole new respect for Melissa McBride now - what a fantastic actress. The girl who played crazy Lizzie is pretty good too. I think she'll have a bright future.

I know. Y&R has the worst background music now....yes, even worse than Brent Nelson and Ken Corday's DAYS music. And music is suppose to be one of JFP's strength as a producer. Yeah right. David Nichtern and Lee Holdridge were there from at least 1992 to the end of the ABC broadcast.

At Y&R, Jack Allocco and David Kurtz have been replaced by Sharon Farber and Rick Krizman.
