  1. Billboard Woman of the Year Taylor Swift on Writing Her Own Rules, Not Becoming a Cliche and the Hurdle of Going Pop This is going to be one of my favourite interviews of hers. She really shows her savviness and how much in control she has on her own career. It's interviews like this one where I always go, "Wow, she's such an impressive young woman." You can see why she's at the top of the game. My favourite parts:
  2. I did not expect Song of the Year so that is a pleasant surprise! Record of the Year nod was obvious though - I want this award most out of the three nominations because I think it's one of Max Martin's best productions.
  3. MissLPA, I get the feeling you want to know Taylor more. LOL I could post more videos/interviews. I really like that cover. I didn't like much of Vance Joy's album but Riptide is the best song on the album. He's going to be opening for Taylor so at least I'll like one song of his. 4. Couldn't find a high quality video on youtube (I think they're being taken down), so I'll just post gifs. Loved her performance of Blank Space! And it wouldn't be an awards if there weren't shots of her dancing.
  5. Oh, I also say, "Cause we're young and we're restless," instead of "Cause we're young and we're reckless." And now know will too.
  6. I now say "Starbucks lovers" ever since I read about that. I can't get it out my head so I just go with it.
  7. The song is written from the perspective of the character the tabloids have created. This is one of the things Taylor does very well - taking a negative situation and turning it into a massive hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz9wwyLjBb8
  8. I don't think the songs on the deluxe album will be considered for singles. Style and Bad Blood are sure singles. Yup, they have. There's pre-sales and general public sales. http://taylorswift.com/events Shake It Off is all about the music which is why I think will be nominated for Record Of The Year at the Grammys.
  9. Taylor Swift Makes Hot 100 History With 'Blank Space' Very awesome! I hope you're right. So far, so good. And do you know what she's doing now? She's sending out these care packages to fans. She's buying these gifts with people in mind and she's writing these amazingly sweet notes to go along with the gifts. We're calling her Santa Swift. LOL Taylor is truly remarkable and I just love her big heart. 10. How would you define "biggest hit ever"? Hot 100 #1's? Number of weeks on hot 100 or in its top 10? Digital sales? If you go by Hot 100 #1's, Shake It Off just became her biggest hit by hitting #1 four times now (WANEGBT hit #1 three weeks). I think it would pretty cool if she was #1 and #2 next week. 1989 now has the first and second biggest weeks in 2014. It sold 402,000 in its second week.
  11. That's definitely her best video. Glad to see her working with Joseph Khan now. Kudos to Taylor for the concept - it was fun and funny. And of course she looks great in the video! She's never had two songs on an album go #1, so hopefully this song will do that for her. What Blank Space is about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz9wwyLjBb8
  12. Ungrateful about what? What is Spotify doing for her and other artists who don't want their music on Spotify? The royalties payout is embarassing. Spotify should have a better model if they want those artists' content. They don't owe Spotify anything. For her or any other artist to be ungrateful, Spotify would have to be doing something in favour of them.
  13. She sold more at Target alone than Coldplay did everywhere. 474,000 to 383,000. Chart from The Roadmap to Taylor Swift's Record-Breaking Week in 6 (Not So Easy) Steps Another cool stat: http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2014/11/04/taylor-swift-first-week-million-sales/18480613/
  14. Taylor talks about taking taking her music off Spotify: https://music.yahoo.com/blogs/music-news/exclusive--taylor-swift-on-being-pop-s-instantly-platinum-wonder----and-why-she-s-paddling-against-the-streams-085041907.html I also like this part where she talks about maintaining her relationship with her fans:

Bringing the discussion over from Taylor's thread. I wonder how well her next album will do in sales. Those "21" numbers (30 million worlwide, 11 million in US) is a once and a lifetime thing (especially now) and I don't think it will be duplicated again. I think getting half will be a considered a major success.
  16. I hope so! I wonder that too and that's the next album I'm eagerly anticipating....not because of her music but because of sales charts. I don't remember if Adele has had any 1 million first week sales though. Both her albums did well over time.
  17. Granted, Taylor didn't break Britney's record, but I'm glad your assessment was wrong. To have three straight 1 million sales in the first week in this day and age is truly remarkable. Taylor Swift fans aren't "country music fans" or "pop fans," we're fans of her music, period. And we have proven that over the span of her career. You're able to accomplish all of this when you establish a great and deeply rooted relationship with your fans over years and years, and if you care about the craft you make. Taylor works very hard for her success because she knows it can all disappear very quickly. She said this quote on The Voice, "If you're coasting, you're backsliding." Lastly, we love her music and we love her as a person - I think that also plays a large part in her sucess.
  18. http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6304536/official-taylor-swifts-1989-debuts-with-1287-million-sold-in Billboard has a lower number and I'll believe Billboard over HDD. 1989's accomplishments: - It's her fourth No. 1 album, following Red (in 2012), Speak Now (2010) and Fearless (2008). - 1989 sold 1.287 million copies in the week ending Nov. 2, according to Nielsen SoundScan. - The largest sales week for an album since June 2, 2002 - Swift is the only act to earn three million-selling weeks with an album. - 1989 is immediately the biggest-selling album released in 2014, and the only one to sell a million in total, after only a week on sale. - Incredibly, after just one week on sale, 1989 is the second-largest-selling album of 2014, behind only the Frozen soundtrack. - 1989 is just the 19th album to sell a million copies in a week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.
  19. http://www.hitsdailydouble.com/sales/salescht.cgi Looks like it just fell short of Britney record. Nonetheless, that's a phenomenal number and the best Taylor has ever gotten for a first a week. Congrats to her. She deserves all this success.
  20. Yeah it's easisr to buy albums but the fact is people don't buy albums anymore especially compared the 90's and early 2002's. There's also the rise of streaming music and illegal file sharing is bigger too. Album sales are down about 14% compared to last years. Heck nobody thought 1989 would beat Red and that came out two years ago. That's why if Taylor breaks the records it would be a shocking and surprising development.
  21. It's like watching an ex begging someone to come back. LOL I like the playlist message that they had: The extreme hardcores did. I've seen pictures of people with copies ranging up to 8 copies. LOL We'll find out tomorrow if she broke Britney's record and maybe Eminem's too.
  22. I don't understand why big artists would want to put their albums on Spotify or other streaming services right away. And streaming services don't even pay well either - the royalties are really low. Did you read Taylor's op-ed in the Wall Street Journal? "Music is art, and art is important and rare. Important, rare things are valuable. Valuable things should be paid for. It's my opinion that music should not be free, and my prediction is that individual artists and their labels will someday decide what an album's price point is. I hope they don't underestimate themselves or undervalue their art." It's a pretty good article and shows that she's just not another dumb artist who is a puppet to her management and record label. She's not just a musician, she's also a very good business woman who is building and empire with a clear career vision. Once the physcial CDs are shipped out to the stores, it's impossible for there not to be a leak. Taylor's album was leaked a couple days before the 27th.
  23. Her appearence on that show was so funny! It's one my favourites! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9nDJhpgaNA The "1989SecretSessions" is one of the most amazing thing a celebrity has done for their fans. Like who seriously invites 89 fans, each time (she did 5 of them), to their homes and then bakes for them, dances with them, meets with every single person, and plays their new album a month before it's released? Who does that?? She cares for us and we care for her back. I'm proud to be part of the best celebrity-to-fanbase-relationship. I don't believe there's any other fanbase who has it better, I really don't.
  24. Hits Daily Double upped their projection: "According to our numbers-crunchers, it now looks like Taylor Swift’s 1989 will hit the 1.3 million mark, easily besting the 1.2m of her last album." No new projections from Billboard though.
  25. I don't think you asked a question. LOL About that lyric, I think it's funny because like you said, nobody thinks that about Taylor. You know what she usually does at night now and has been for the last 6 months or so? She's been stalking/interacting with her fans on tumblr/twitter/instagram.
