  1. #477: Caroline to Brooke: "You have a headache? I would have thought that you are the LAST person on earth to have headache before bedtime?" ROFL
  2. I actually think the current is not too bad, yet I prefer the older tunes as well. Admittedly every 5 years they have slightly changed the tunes and phased out old music which is used just occasionally onwards. It is still happening today and unlike Y&R, thankfully B&B still seems to own the rights to the wonderful music from Jeff Allocco and David Kurtz. Susan Flannery was amazing as Leslie Stewart on DALLAS: I have no idea why they didn't use her beyond that 1st (?) season. She worked so well with Larry Hagman. La Flannery was quite the minx in 1970s. Her role on "The Moneychangers" (I saw the mini-series just last year on DVD for the first time) was also quite sultry, but also a very sharp attorney. Then after DALLAS it seems like she took a prolonged maternity leave which basically killed her career (or she did not want to work at that time???) - until Bill Bell hired her for B&B.
  3. Queen Stephanie was indeed written marvellous in the early years. And Susan Flannery looked DA BOMB. Interesting enought around Xmas 1988 I noticed that her dresses got a slightly wider, they started Dressing her more casual with sweaters on occasion - up until Susan Flannery was super slim and always dressed to the nines. While I agree with you that Ridge, Caroline and Brooke all had en edge and written very well, the love triangle was not much better than we get to see nowadays with Liam, Steffy and Hope or at least it was also feautured too much and too often in stand alone episodes were everyone's main concern in all over L.A. is with whom Ridge is shagging up. And until the arrival of Clarke (boost #1) and later the Spectras (Major boost #2) the B and C stories were much too weak. Speaking of which: Episode 463 and Episode 467 proved to me what an amazing Addition Darlene Conley was to the show. These two episodes are stand-Outs; Sally was soooo bold and suddenly B&B feels very much alive.
  4. LOL The Kyle Lowder period was not one of the brightest years. At least the opera singing from his first year had stopped by then.
  5. Nope, thank you - I have the DVDs. The only thing I was wondering was how many episodes of B&B aired in 1987 exactly...
  6. The show is indeed fabulous. And surprisingly enough it has a great final season and amazing climax. Watch it! Season 4 was a rather mixed bag, but you can sit thorugh that - it had some good moments.
  7. So far so good: Do you have 187 or 188 episodes for B&B in 1987?
  8. How cool - thank you! Like YRfan23 I also have my personal B&B database and just from recaps and storylines in the episodes, I already had Dec 26, 1988 as a preemption date. Perfect to get verification for this. The only information still missing for 1988 is about January 1988: there had to be at least one (if there non for New Years Eve, then even two...) pre-emption (presumably in the last week?) for B&B... Case in point: my first episode of 1988 is # 189 which - I assume - aired on Monday January 4, 1988. Thoughts?
  9. There is absolute no resolution to the mysterious caller and it is not untill the 200 episode mark that Stephanie is regularly leaving on her mysterious errands which eventually turn out to be her visits to Angela. This is great build-up... And I agree with you that the 1987 episodes are a mixed bag and everything surrounding Katie and the other Logan is forgetful by today's standards, yet it is the beginning of a legacy.
  10. Sounds promising! 👍 is anyone watching AmySilence‘s 1989 episodes? With the Spectras arrival (Darlene Conley was quickly upped to contract status...) and Kristen/Clarke it continues to heat up.
  11. They truly were. They gave us spectacular location shoots in the 1990s! Although I must admit that I was surprised that the look of B&B improved drastically during Dennis Steinmetz rather short producing stint and got some prime tim-ish style elements. I always though John C Zak introduced the glam factor.
  12. #455 was just uploaded and there's a major behind the scenes shake-up: Meg Bennett is no longer writing, Dennis L. Steinmetz is no longer a producer, Brad Bell (starts taking producing duties) joins Ron Weaver as an associate producer, while Hope Harmel Smith (formerly an associate producer) is upgraded and John C. Zak who had directed a few episodes in early 1988 (and will continue with the show for the next ten years as director and producer...) is "in" as well under the title of coordinating producer.
  13. FYI: The years listed with those YouTube videos are off because the closing credits are no longer the original ones in all cases. And “AmySilence” solely relied on this credits for her labeling of the episodes... I find it fascinating that unlike internet clamor that Sallys role got eventually expanded, it is clear that Bill Bell knew of Darlene Conley’a talent from Y&R and built the Spectra clan from scratch right at the brink of 1988/1989. No turning back, he was already in the process of phasing our Katie, Storm and Rocco (plus Nick) to make room. Those uploads from AmySilence are a totally unexpected gift that keeps on giving! Just 50 more episodes and she will close the gap to the uploads by “MarekLogan” with those annoying Polish voiceovers that are on YT with almost consecutive episodes (including some gaps) of 1989-1992 B&B.
  14. I noticed that, too. It was very smooth sailing. Scripts were also not too bad. The problems after the strike were much more glaring with several botched up episodes and sudden story switches for 2 weeks before it was back to normal. i have no idea who wrote B&B and Y&R for that matter. Maybe the likes of Rex M. Best or Eric Freiwald for Y&R and producer/director Dennis Steinmetz for B&B with help from some other script writers from the Bell universe?
  15. The episodes I mentioned are all in this thread. Go some pages back; they were uploaded this year by Days22 who bought them from one of DVD trading sites. It’s approximately 40 episodes from Nov 1992-Jan 1993.
  16. Was just about to mention this. We already have these episodes online. It'*s Felicia's swan song... This time period was AMAZING. I'm currently watching the last 1993 episodes uploaded by DAYS22 from January 1993. What a treat: Darla as Camille, Taylor as likable as I remember her, Sheila's desperation to temper with Bridget's paternity test!
  17. Beginning with the mid Jan-1989 episodes she was. As of #452, Darlene Conley is recurring, though.
  18. I think I once heard that Ethan Wayne wanted out and therefore left B&B around the two year mark. Like you, I also felt some good chemistry and story potential with Storm and Margo. Storm also rightfully disliked Clarke because he badmouthed him to Kristen - so it all made a lot sense.
  19. You may add to our list: Judith Borne as Angela Forrester in January 1989 as well. She was on recurring status the first couple of months. And MAJOR news: Darlene Conley's very first episode has just been uploaded to YouTube. I have waited YEARS for this! Sally Spectra made her debut in #452 in January 1989.
  20. Back to the 1988 episodes from AmySilence: unlike lots of internet clamor on the first airdate of Sally Spectra, I can now confirm that it was NOT in December 1988. I just saw the very last episode of 1988 (#441) and there is absolutely no sign of Sally or Clarke being pressured by his old boss yet. The lovely Darlene Conley probably started taping in December 1988 because I have seen an episode in the 450-range with Sally which should pop on YouTube any day now. It’s gonna be interesting how much set-up there is gonna be because the last mention of shady knock-of rival Spectra Fashions was in Spring 1988... I always assumed there was a much more detailed path to the Spectras, yet Clarke is already super busy with business ambitions at Forrester Creations and keeping Margo’s baby a secret from Kristen - only his (former) employer Spectra is no longer an issue .
  21. +1 The biggest blunder was the total waste of the Grant character (as well as bringing back Clarke and then not using him in 1997!?) as a total controll freak despite the obvious chemistr between Charles Grant & KKL. Thankfully, the Grant&Macy pairing followed which was a joy and provided much the previous love tringale around Grant lacked. Unfortunately, Brad Bell decided to kill Grant off instead of playing it along a little longer.
  22. Notwithstanding that we have seen many angles on how use a fashion show as a story catalyst, I think under today's budget restraint environments these biiiiig fashion shows are a thing of the past. I liked how they tried something different with the Monte Carlo Mini Swimwear (!?) fashion show in 2017 (?), but that said: there is no excuse not to occasionally have business taking place at Forrester Creations. This year in particular has been so bad with the focus on the baby switch that absolutely nothing else has been happening. This used to be way better in the past. Speaking of the past: I've reached episode 430 on the wonderful AmySilence YT uploads and by now, Ronn Moss is just ONE episode shy of raking in 200 episodes in the year of 1988 which no doubt is going to happen as there are roughly 15 more episodes until we ring in 1989. I thought air hogging in the 200+ per year appearances range was a rather modern thing of the 2000s (on GH, Passions and B&B!?), but apparently even Bill Bell was not immune to this. The show was still a lot diverser than it is now, but Ridge is pretty much like Hope in that year of the show. There hardly is an episode where is not gracing the screen. Interesting!
  23. The full episode used (is?) is on YouTube... It was a marvellous fashion show. I agree with you that the storyline itself sucked, though. Brooke marrying Grant, Taylor eventually plaing safe card with Thorne when she was pregnant with Thomas and everyone was unlikeable.
  24. Indeed, Darlene Conley should be seen very soon. Soooo excited
  25. ??? She was on contract from the beginning. Her first airdate was in episode 7.
