A lot of people said they stopped watching when they decided to no longer have Robin and Patrick as a couple. I guess the two of them could make the show more grounded. However I'm pessimistic about the GH writers properly doing medical storylines. I believe they would have Robin and Patrick getting mixed up with a bunch of other bs that has nothing to do with medicine. Do you think that part of it is because the writers don't understand how to show the cruelty of rich people? From what little I've seen of Y&R and DOOL I know for a fact that Victor and Stefano can be cold blooded men when they want. GH used to present the Cassadines as the main villains .Even in the 90s and 2000s when it came to the "good" members of the family they were still presented as inherently richer, more powerful, more perverse, and more vicious than mobsters if they chose to be. Damn you're right. GH was the most medically relevant in the 90s. That's wild to think about.

GH ignoring covid might be understandable. But them ignoring the Luigi Mangione situation, big pharma vs holistic medicine, the not so easy conclusions about marijuana's side effects, edibles being trendy, insurance companies vs actual medical professionals, etc is so cowardly. Usually the women on soap operas are rich and glamorous or not rich and still prefer to present themselves in a glamorous way. I think soap operas need more tomboyish women. Doesn't even matter if the tomboyish one is working class or not.

Recently Deanna did say out loud that she has good instincts and Donnell has confirmed it too. Between Kat and Deanna I wonder if the writers are going along with the jokes about black people being psychic, telepathic, or spiritually connected. Especially because even though Deanna is a light skin biracial girl she clearly prefers her black parent. This seems like a huge leap but honestly it's show business. Stranger types of favoritism has happened. Samantha's character is simple. She's a rich girl who's spoiled, insecure, and unsure of what she wants her future to be. First of all I know it's an unpopular opinion but the fact that Mike is back as a villain is very interesting. He's such a piece of s__t but a sleazy type of lawyer like him is necessary. Mike vs Bill could legit be one of the biggest feuds of the show. As for Joey, the reason why he's white is because of political correctness. I truly believe that if Joey was a black man instead there would be a lot of complaints. I think the show wants to establish Joey as the big gangster and then bring in a black gangster later to be his rival.

A small messy part of me wants to see Pamela and Joey in a scene together. These two posts will most likely be the most relatable posts in this whole thread. Deanna looked so badass! I didn't start looking up soap operas until the 2010s and I'm a younger millennial. But objectively it's insane how the Robin and Stone having AIDS storyline has impacted Generation X.

I will however say this about the Banneker or high school set, there's only two teens and two college kids. Agreed. Joey manipulated Donnell into liking him. However even in that context Donnell should be cautious. But he doesn't have the same instincts and/or street smarts that his sister or Kat do. Now I wanna see Deanna and Kat form another dynamic duo.

Guilty as charged. I'm new to daytime soap operas and been trying to research it for a while. All the talk about the supercouples and the action oriented storylines is what made me want to take a peak at Days of Our Lives. I was especially curious about Robert Kelker-Kelly's Bo and Lisa Rinna's Billie.

Notes: -If Tomas is killed then there won't be any hispanic characters around. I'm black so I don't care but I can tell that the show wants to check off the boxes of having at least one hispanic character. So in that sense we could be stuck with Tomas for a while. -I prefer Carlton with Nicole. I would like to see Kial drift towards the Impaler storyline. Him and Ashley's boyfriend could be desperate circumstances together I guess. I would also like to see him get into some s*** with Joey and Vanessa. Especially if the truth comes out about Joey killing Doug. Kial being there to scoop up Vanessa would be kind of crazy. -The easter wardrobe was tope tier. Even Hayley came in looking fly. -Anita being determined to have a moment of joy by hanging out at the country club for easter is great. -I'm still deciding whether or not I want to see Caroline try to social climb and get Bill for herself. -I hope Deanna continues giving Vanessa the business. Vanessa lying about starting her affair with Joey while Doug was alive was a terrible decision. And Donnell going along with it was weird.

This is the suggestion of yours I liked. On the surface it seems like traditional soap opera stuff like your other suggestions. However the fact that black people are involved is what subverts things. The uncomfortable and frustrating subtext of violence happening at a bougie black event. The fact that Smitty, a white gay liberal would be shot would make it even worse. The Duprees would worry about Smitty of course. But the way that the Duprees would have to try to clean up the publicity of that would be frustrating and very real. I agree. Between her and Darlene I'm all the way curious now. Sidenote: Someone in a youtube comment described Caroline as Bill's henchwoman. I would be interested in a social climbing Caroline deciding to go after Bill for herself. Caroline vs Hayley and Caroline vs Dani would be nasty ass feuds.

The only way I could the Duprees fighting each other is if Anita or Vernon have a cousin or sibling who are the matriarch or patriarch of their particular side. Whoever the cousin or sibling and their subsequent kids and grandkids are would have to be lower middle class and less bougie. Otherwise creating an entirely separate core family will be the way to go.

I wish Steve Webber, Sarah Webber, and Tom Hardy Sr could come back. No I don't care that Steven already returned 2 years ago. Do it again. The first time I was sifting through what I could find on youtube I liked them. I would love to see what would happen if Elizabeth and her sons could interact with all of them again. Yeah the GH sets from the 90s and 2000s were awesome. I guess B&B can't slack due to the premise of the show, being located in Los Angeles and it's all about fashion. Yeah I'm serious. Rich people (or people married to rich people) have no excuse for living in blank spaces.

Unpopular Opinion: The only positive thing about Bill and Hayley is where they live. The interior design is actually cool, the furniture is just too close to the ground. There's nothing tacky about what the place looks like. And honestly real interior design is supposed to be tacky. This constant need for everything to be "tasteful" is exactly why white, beige, and gray became popular and it sucks.

Good comparison. I'm up for all the mess that Joey, Marcel, and Leslie are gonna bring. Leslie becoming a female gangsta in her own right would be a good way to get an individual rivalry between her and Vanessa to escalate. I'm gonna say this and I don't care who's offended: just because the characters are black doesn't mean they should always be put into typical hero vs villain dynamics. Matter of fact the daytime soap operas have fallen behind because they still try to adhere to hero vs villain or anti hero vs villain stuff regardless of race. Stop being obsessed with characters being "likeable" or "easy to root for".
