BTG: June 2026 Discussion Thread
There's nothing wrong with liking Kat but don't make excuses for her elitism. Kat doesn't like broke people unless they present in a aspirational mold or they bow down to the Duprees. And bringing up Iziah doesn't count because if Iziah wasn't Jacob's brother, Kat wouldn't tolerate him. At first I shrugged my shoulders at this Bill vs Martin idea. But y'all were right. The concept of somebody like Bill amassing more power is a scary thought. He's already a freaking menace as a lawyer. And he's not even the district attorney. Government Bill would be too much.

How is Iziah even remotely goody two shoes? Him and Jacob are for sure opposites. Plus in comparison to his girlfriend Iziah isn't a antihero. I know that much. I would say his ambiguity is one of the things the writers nailed. I just hope they stick with it even after Kat and Eva's medical crises. The only variation I could think of for Luke is for him to be a bend the rules cop to go up against Jacob the by the book cop. Or better yet have Luke come into town because he's decided to go to Banneker to get a law degree and become a lawyer because he's tired of running through the streets. That could also set up the idea of him being Bill's enemy in court some years down the line.

Moral Alignments For Beyond The Gates Characters
This is one of the strangest opinions I've seen so far about Leslie. That woman is definitely a villain. And you're also forgetting the second time Leslie tried to kill Laura. Leslie is stuck in chaotic evil and should stay there for at least the next four years in my opinion.

BTG: June 2026 Discussion Thread
Well I made a separate thread for moral alignments of the characters. Y'all can tell me what you think. As for all of these health crises I hope both Eva and Kat survive but their personalities change. Both of them should become much more selfish in their personalities. For at least three years they should do whatever they want to make themselves happy. This can overall intensify their feud because both are motivated by near death experiences.

Moral Alignments For Beyond The Gates Characters
I said in the monthly thread that I will do it. Well here I am. I have decided to sort characters according to how the scriptwriters should actually write everybody them. It would be more character development and more actual conflict. Lawful Good: Vernon. Anita. Jacob. Naomi. Donnell. Nicole. Tyrell. Derek (R.I.P.). Mona. Madison. Peaches. Neutral Good: Darlene. Kat. Jan. Monica. Laura. Smitty. Kial. Pamela. Tracy. Regina (June’s sister. Remember?) Chaotic Good: Deanna. Ashley. Grayson. Shanice. June. Lawful Neutral: Martin. Elon. Ted. Andre. Luke (when he finally shows up). Shonda (Martina’s even coordinator). True Neutral: Vanessa. Samantha. Eva. Lia. Tomas. Randy. Carlton. Caroline. Jessica. Chessie. Chaotic Neutral: Dani. Chelsea. Iziah. Sharon. Bill. Lawful Evil: Joey. Anastasia. Neutral Evil: Heather. Hayley. Chaotic Evil: Leslie. Lynette. Nathan.

I like both Eva and Kat. I never hated either one. I do however agree that the show being determined to make Eva an antiheroine is a problem. She should be somewhere between an antiheroine and a villain. Iziah is firmly presented as in between and that's why they totally make sense as a couple. Matter of fact I might make a list categorizing which characters should be in which moral alignment. And no I don't play Dungeons & Dragons.

Madison has said out loud that she isn't a fashionista type. She definitely the type to buy some nice ass clothes, repeatedly wear those clothes until she gets sick of it, then donate it. I don't want Tomas to leave because the concept of the character is important. He's a working class Hispanic man who's a immigrant and trying to social climb through marriage to a black rich girl. Despite the actor being terrible the Eva Tomas Kat love triangle was an good set up. Eva represents his authenticity and Kat represents his shortcut to a bigger wallet. By choosing Kat he chooses money and status over love. If Tomas had chose Eva that would be a working class black woman and Hispanic guy working their up the socioeconomic pyramid. The arrival of Iziah wouldn't change that. If anything a Eva Tomas Iziah love triangle would've still worked. Iziah is a lower middle class black guy who's a flawed bad boy, raised by cops, but found refuge in the streets and a mobster mentor. Tomas being mentored by a morally ambiguous cheating lawyer like Bill would also be an interesting subtext for him while having confrontations with Iziah. Tomas lack of a backbone with Bill could also be a interesting subtext in comparison to the more mellowed out dynamic between Iziah and Joey.

Well I think the other issue that some people say the mafia references are outdated because in real life the mafia has supposedly lost more of it's power. I'm unsure if it's true or not because I wasn't born in the big city and I'm not a criminal. My question is: how does a soap opera integrate the ideas of corruption or at least an uneasy alliance between politicians and criminals? Especially white collar ones?

Naomi and surprisingly Ashley were the best dressed woman. For the men I would say Ted and Isiah were the best dressed. I said it once and I will say it again: if Joey was black the show would be accused of pushing negative stereotypes. Joey has to be white and his sister has to be white. If Heather was a biracial woman that still could be a problem for the show. BTG is in it's beginning stages. It has to be white kingpins/queenpins first. Then the black or latino ones might come later.

GH: Classic Thread
I'm gonna be annoying and remind folks once again that I'm a Stefan and Katherine fan. But putting that aside I want to say that I miss the overall scrappiness of characters on GH. It seems that everybody regardless of socioeconomic status, age, gender, or what their position is in a story (hero/heroine, anti heroine/hero, or villainess/villain) they talked trash like they could beat someone up or they just directly did it. Even prissy (this isn't a insult) characters like Brenda and Maxie would try to catfight. Even dudes like Ned and Patrick who hated the mafia would try to fight.

SInce the wardrobe for the Cotillion was so on point I can't wait to see what folks will be wearing for this corssover event.

What happened to Pamela (Cady McClain)?
The irony is most folks hate Vanessa. That's the other reason why Pamela should have more screen time. She's the white woman that has her life together while Vanessa is the hot mess white woman who pretends to have her life together but is actually making impulsive decisions. They should be each other's counterpart. Yet for some reason the show insists on keeping them apart.

What happened to Pamela (Cady McClain)?
My bad. My brain glitched.

What happened to Pamela (Cady McClain)?
BTG avoiding the Dani, Andre, and Cady trio actually working at the modeling agency makes no sense to me.

ALL: Escapism vs any semblance of reality
Genie is outstanding for coming up with that idea. Her acting skills as Laura's life imploded is tough to watch. I respect it.

ALL: Escapism vs any semblance of reality
A lot of people said they stopped watching when they decided to no longer have Robin and Patrick as a couple. I guess the two of them could make the show more grounded. However I'm pessimistic about the GH writers properly doing medical storylines. I believe they would have Robin and Patrick getting mixed up with a bunch of other bs that has nothing to do with medicine. Do you think that part of it is because the writers don't understand how to show the cruelty of rich people? From what little I've seen of Y&R and DOOL I know for a fact that Victor and Stefano can be cold blooded men when they want. GH used to present the Cassadines as the main villains .Even in the 90s and 2000s when it came to the "good" members of the family they were still presented as inherently richer, more powerful, more perverse, and more vicious than mobsters if they chose to be. Damn you're right. GH was the most medically relevant in the 90s. That's wild to think about.

ALL: Escapism vs any semblance of reality
GH ignoring covid might be understandable. But them ignoring the Luigi Mangione situation, big pharma vs holistic medicine, the not so easy conclusions about marijuana's side effects, edibles being trendy, insurance companies vs actual medical professionals, etc is so cowardly. Surprisingly BTG seem to be at the beginning stages of tackling big pharma vs holistic medicine due to Madison getting sued for malpractice.

*cackles* I definitely like hearing Shanice, Jacob, and Naomi speak their feelings on Derek's death. And I'm all for a PTSD and survivor's guilt storyline for Jacob. I like gritty stuff like that.

ALL: Types of characters every soap needs
Usually the women on soap operas are rich and glamorous or not rich and still prefer to present themselves in a glamorous way. I think soap operas need more tomboyish women. Doesn't even matter if the tomboyish one is working class or not.

BTG: May 2026 Discussion Thread
Recently Deanna did say out loud that she has good instincts and Donnell has confirmed it too. Between Kat and Deanna I wonder if the writers are going along with the jokes about black people being psychic, telepathic, or spiritually connected. Especially because even though Deanna is a light skin biracial girl she clearly prefers her black parent. This seems like a huge leap but honestly it's show business. Stranger types of favoritism has happened. Samantha's character is simple. She's a rich girl who's spoiled, insecure, and unsure of what she wants her future to be. It's actually a straightforward character.

BTG: May 2026 Discussion Thread
Yes we do. And I want Deanna to ask Joey questions about the plasma stuff too. I wanted to take the time to post something about two villains. First of all I know it's an unpopular opinion but the fact that Mike is back as a villain is very interesting. He's such a piece of s__t but a sleazy type of lawyer like him is necessary. Mike vs Bill could legit be one of the biggest feuds of the show. As for Joey, the reason why he's white is because of political correctness. I truly believe that if Joey was a black man instead there would be a lot of complaints. I think the show wants to establish Joey as the big gangster and then bring in a black gangster later to be his rival.

BTG: May 2026 Discussion Thread
A small messy part of me wants to see Pamela and Joey in a scene together. These two posts will most likely be the most relatable posts in this whole thread. Deanna looked so badass! Once again I love my people and I love how we have fun. Between this and the footage of this past Christmas party, that cast and crew must be haven't the best time of their lives.

ALL: Those big, iconic soap moments
The performance of Stone's health decline should be put in the Hall of Fame of Soap Opera Performances. I'm a Michael Jackson fan and I remember finding out that the "Gone Too Soon" song on the Dangerous album was dedicated to a teenager named Ryan who had HIV/AIDS.

ALL: Those big, iconic soap moments
I didn't start looking up soap operas until the 2010s and I'm a younger millennial. But objectively it's insane how the Robin and Stone having AIDS storyline has impacted Generation X.
