Yeah, they need bring Brenda (and Julia, maybe, too) with kids in tow. Right now is the perfect time to do it, too, with the Deception fight over that cosmetics company. Or have Barrett Industries swoop in and buy the MetroCourt from Nina, too, to spite Carly. 😄 And, better yet, have Brenda come back to the show (SURPRISE!) mysteriously already married to Nicolas Cassadine. All the drama-scandal that would ensue would be so delicious seeing Brenda playing opposite Tracy, Lois, Lucy, Sonny, Laura, etc. There's so many fun things they could do with Brenda on the canvas in 2024.

GH: December 2023 Discussion Thread
Friday's highlight was the Esme & Heather scenes. Touching mother-daughter reunion in prison! I was surprised by the good advice Heather gave, almost like the mom from The Wonder Years would give. 🤭 Esme being the troubled, lead female of that generation is what GH deserves. I hope they don't go over-the-top and prematurely burn off the character when she's got so much potential for so many years of mayhem and drama. Carly's new year's eve dress to the club was frumpy (or just mundane, if I'm being charitable).

ARTICLE: ABC to Air Primetime Special in January to Celebrate Milestone 60th Anniversary of ‘General Hospital’
Well, after hearing your explanations, then I won't begrudge them for using him (even though I doubt it's successful cross-pollination/promotion). They'd be better off stunt-casting popular Youtubers, Instagram or TikTok stars (that want to and can act) if they want to juice the ratings and up the GH social media presence.

ARTICLE: The Role of Josslyn Jacks is Temporarily Being Played by Courtney Fulk on ‘General Hospital’; Eden McCoy on Sabbatical
Eden looked beautiful in that '90s Emmy dress. She's very reminiscent of Melody Thomas-Scott from Y&R. Tragic she's going through this loss, but she's such an eloquent and articulate young woman (a credit to her mother raising her right, no doubt). She has aged into the Joss role nicely.

ARTICLE: ABC Current Series Executive in Charge of ‘General Hospital’ Hopes to “Win Back Our Lapsed” Viewers of Drama Series
Good for Nathan Varni. I agree 100% with J Bernard Jones in this X thread. I hope GH succeeds and leads to revival of AMC and OLTL in some form in the future. What I'd like GH to do is write more comedy into scenes. All the regurgitated 2-actor dialog scenes are absolutely bland. Bring on Foxy Roxy or Opal Gardner! All of the veteran actors (playing Lois, Tracy, Scott, Lucy, Felicia, Laura, etc.) have comedic chops, too.

Why does this show keep propping up a z-list ESPN talking head as a "star"? Do sports fans even think of him as a star? No sports fans are watching General Hospital and soap fans are not watching sports, anyways. The show is overflowing with 60 years of superstars in film, television, stage and music that they could be highlighting on this special. So it's ridiculous they keep trotting out and propping up Brick or whatever-his-name-is like that.

That was fabulous! Sweet trip down memory lane. Loved how Susan Lucci thanked CBS (but not ABC). 🤭

GH: December 2023 Discussion Thread
Really loving the last few episodes of GH. The Lucy-Scotty-Tracy-Brooklynn story sounds like it'll be classic scheming, soapy fun. The Cody-Mac-Felicia tale should be sweet. The Esme-Spencer-Nikolas-Laura story should be excellent as the old and new Esme merge. Even the Cyrus-Nina-Sonny-Carly stuff is shaping up to be a nice throwback to villainy. I hope that hot WSB director character comes back in a new, permanent role. I don't think Maxie's going anywhere. I've accepted Kristen Storms staying in the role and she's got the only kids on the show that are entertaining and watchable (besides Elizabeth's 3 sons, but they're growing up).

GH: December 2023 Discussion Thread
I really like this hot actor they cast as the new chief of WSB + Pikeman. I hope he sticks around and doesn't end up being just a short-term villain. He'd be great opposite Anna, Felicia, Lucy or Laura. Or better even Jordan, if they ever give her a romance. So cute how Lucy & Scott were reminiscing about their history and reminding us that Serena's out there somewhere (though they seem to always forget about Christina, LOL). Same for Lois reminiscing about Christmas at the Quartermaines with Lila and Reginald. Can someone please re-train the Violet actress to stop doing line deliveries like she does? She is no Shirley Temple. I can't stand Diane, either, but I'd rather her stay on the canvas and be humiliated constantly. It's always hilarious when someone intentionally or unintentionally knocks her down a peg like Robert. Edited. Just realized I mixed up Charlotte with Violet. They're both terrible.

ARTICLE: R.I.P. Ellen Holly — First Black Person to Star in a Daytime Soap Opera Dies at 92
What an amazing, elegant talent. Unjust how her OLTL character wasn't put back on the canvas in the 1990s and 2000s or show up on General Hospital.

General Hospital: October 2023 Discussion Thread
OMG! Rena Sofer's Lois being back is the BEST casting decision the show has made in AGES. So glad she's back. The Tracy vs Lois scenes are spectacular already, the fun friendship of Lois & Lisa LoCicero's Olivia (a sweet enough substitute for Brenda for the time being) and the mother-daughter dynamic of Lois & Brooklynn are going to be so great! So cool of them to tap into the Lois & Ned supercoupledom of the '90s. Loved the Laura/Kevin/Esme/Ace/Spencer scenes too. I'm really digging these 2 family units and their dynamics. GH really feels like GH again with Laura's family and Tracy's family at the forefront of an episode. 🥰 I'm looking forward to Felicia's GH murder mystery happening soon. I don't need Felicia to prop up Aunt Stella any more, let Stella be the second victim of Nurse Ratchet, please! I don't know what was going on with Scott & Lucy in the prior episode. Why did Lucy change her clothes in the middle of the episode to give that confusing speech with no clarity on what's going to do? She went back to looking like the mousey librarian disguise she used to sport. LOL. And why are Maxie & Lucy acting like they built Deception from scratch? Didn't that company start with Julia Barrett, Dominique, Scott and Lucy? I don't know what Scott was doing in the episode, but he's always a delight.

ALL: The niche potential for streaming classic soaps
Yeah, they need to put up all these episodes on Youtube or Facebook Watch. If the entire music industry can put up all the music videos and song recordings on Youtube and be able to monetize it, there's no reason whoever owns the soap episodes couldn't (and it takes care of the music rights because Youtube already has arrangements for that). The episodes are now collecting dust, they could be collecting a few thousand or million dollars, building exposure/interest from a global audience on a huge platform like Youtube.

GENERAL HOSPITAL September 2023 Discussion Thread
Obviously if Haley Pullos is in prison, then she can't be on the show, but if she's available and is likely to avoid a jail sentence, then let the girl work! Having her be productive, busy and working as an actor helps her pay restitution to her victim(s), too, and keeps her out of trouble. What are you talking about with KDP? Didn't Blair Cramer already show up in Port Charles? I'd rather Dorian Cramer or her daughter Cassie make an appearance instead of Blair. Major bummer if Susan Lucci declined to make a surprise cameo on GH, especially after Walt Wiley did so well playing opposite Lucy & Felicia. If they're trying to develop that Pine Valley primetime spin off, it helps to keep these AMC characters alive on GH. If La Lucci won't appear, then maybe they can pivot to having Opal Gardner being Tracy's partner-in-crime. 🤭 Portia tearing into Anna today is another example of why Portia is the second most annoying female character on this show (after that arrogant Diane dingbat). I don't understand how/why the writers can stomach writing for these sanctimonious, whiny, unlikable characters. Curtis needs to finally dump this loser.

GENERAL HOSPITAL September 2023 Discussion Thread
I agree, the actress playing the surrogate is charming. Too bad she's being wasted on an absolute bore of a story with the show's worst current couple, GranMolly & TJ. The funniest coupling for me right now is Anna & Valentine turning into a Sleeping With The Enemy or Mr & Mrs Smith situation. This is probably the best thing they could have done for those 2. LOL. Speaking of couples, the kissing scenes between Trina & Nicolas are the most awkward I've ever seen on a soap. At first I thought it was a one-off situation with bad direction, but it keeps happening in every episode despite both actors being good, otherwise. Does the show have an intimacy coordinator? They need to teach these two actors how to kiss on camera if they're going to continue as a major couple. I LOVED Lucy mentioning Erica Kane and Enchantment this week. Can't wait to see how the Lucy & Tracy rivalry story takes shape. That's definitely my current favorite, besides what's simmering with Nicolas' revenge/return plot, which should be great with Laura, Ava, Nicolas & Esme (what a family of fine actors!). GH seems to finally be ramping up with these overlapping umbrella stories, like Sonny being arrested. I hope they send him away to prison for a long time.

I like this twist of Nikolas' half-uncle Cyrus saving him for Laura, but I was hoping for an all new (or even old?) female mobster instead. Is Sally Struthers' character dead? Are Tonja Walker's characters alive somewhere? I guess whoever Tracy is working with for the Deception story could be one of them because she's definitely not connected to this Cyrus story. I didn't like Felicia propping up Stella at all. I'd much rather Felicia stay a PI and do her mystery-solving work, instead. I hope we end up with a serial killer working at GH and Felicia gets to be the one to figure it out! The fashion, hair and make up team for GH is stepping up its game more consistently. Jordan looked fabulous as usual, but Trina and Selina Wu looked stellar today, too.

@carolineg & @Vee please watch today's family dinner party scenes with Jordan, Alexis, Sam and Molly and tell me who fits in that group best and who sticks out like a sore thumb (GranMolly). I've seen the Jordan actress in scenes with solid veteran actresses like Nancy Lee Grahn & Finola Hughes and she does fine. I don't know the Jordan character's history since I picked up re-watching GH soon after the pandemic. Police commissioner characters on soaps are almost never interesting. They're usually benign, boring and/or unattractive, but I like how they flipped the usual gender, race and beauty standards for this commish (now deputy mayor). It does not surprise me at all that the actress was a model, because she's absolutely stunning and has such a calm, cool vibe. She's usually so unbothered, totally opposite of her extended family (contrast her with the perpetually frazzled Portia who is the most unrealistic "doctor" ever in GH history or the annoying, scenery-chewing Aunt Stella).

GH: 30 Years of Sonny Corinthos
🤣🤭😂 Perfectly put. I agree with everyone's views on 1990s Sonny being watchable, even though I still liked almost all of the other male characters on the show more than him back then. The problem with the 2000s Sonny, in addition to what everyone has already said, is that they made him into a hero instead of the anti-hero he was always supposed to be. I think the best acting I've ever seen Nancy Lee Grahn do was when she tore into Sonny, Jason, Carly, etc. at her sister Kristina's funeral. Alexis really spoke for the disenchanted audience when she laid into those toxic characters back then. I still don't understand how she ended up sleeping with and having a child with Sonny, but this current Kristina seems like the most interesting offspring Sonny has ever had (besides the Dante surprise, I guess).

Loved Brooklyn getting Tracy drunk, leading to that perfect scene where she crashed into Mac & Felicia. Amazing that you have 3/4 actors/characters sharing a cute scene together after 30-40 years on a show. That seems so precious/rare and yet still so entertaining! The way they dressed Amanda Setton's Brooklyn character today was perfect; really amplified her natural beauty. I wish the wardrobe department would style her that well every time, instead of the mess they usually have her in. And speaking of gorgeous, the actress that plays Jordan is so elegant and has such a calming aura. I love her restrained, toned down acting style, too, in comparison to the overwrought style of some of her co-stars that get way too much airtime (Portia, Sonny, Nina especially). The wardrobe department seems to love Jordan, too, cause she's consistently the best dressed person on the show.

This Kristina recasting gets better every day. I loved her scenes with Joss! Finally, a fun new rivalry. All four of the characters (plus Baby Ace) today in Kelly's are a joy to watch. GranMolly's surrogacy story is going to be insufferable. That coupling was better off-screen all these years, popping up briefly to talk about their not-marriage "domestic partnership" and then disappearing. There was some bad editing in the Curtis scenes. You could clearly see his legs move. 🥴 How old is Olivia supposed to be? She used to party with Lois at Studio 54 when Lisa LoCicero was 10?! 😂

OMG...the third day Molly is having the same conversation on the couch with another character with that stupid stuffed animal. I don't care if the Molly character dies now. The sympathy propping they're doing with this recast is too much! OMG...the second day in a row they're shoving that camera up Cyrus' hairy nostrils repeatedly! Gross. Almost as bad as this new Molly. This is not watchable TV. That was a nice moment they wrote for the Trish dayplayer with Kristina in the bathroom. It's nice seeing so many new sets. I think they did well with this Kristina recast. So far she's been good opposite every actor on the show.

General Hospital: July 2023 Discussion Thread
Other than Lucy, Felicia, Martin, Tracy and Gregory, this episode is the weakest since the new writers started. Having a 40 year old woman talk about her stuffed animal for 2 episodes to 2 different characters as she sits on the same couch...that's sounds like what the old writers would do. So regressive. TJ having a baby with her sister is going to be nasty. No, thanks! As much as I dislike the recasting choice, I hope they do not kill off the Molly character after the baby's born to end up making TJ & Kristina co-parent. Just ship Molly off screen. I really hope Martin stole the idea of the Deceptor from Enchantment. Tracy & Erica Kane working together would be so amazing! Susan Lucci doing a favor for GH's 60th anniversary by making a few cameo appearances would probably help get the ball rolling for a revival of Pine Valley. I'm also liking this Tracy & Gregory Taming of the Shrew relationship. It continues Tracy's long tradition of being paired with handsome men (Luke being the exception to the rule) decade after decade.

Yeah, Hulu generally sucks when it comes to putting up GH on time. I don't know why ABC doesn't just allow Hulu to have GH up earlier. The people that want to watch it on ABC live are not the same people as the ones watching it on Hulu and they never will be. Anyways, this is the third episode in a row where things feel amped up with stories progressing, stale characters have better written dialogs and scenes have little surprising twists, like between Carly & Ava ("who said I gave up my vendetta?" LOL) or Finn & Curtis talking about woo-woo New Age stuff or Portia & Curtis' final scene to end the drama and standing by her man (even though I want them break up). They've even made that Dr. Montague even more sinister! Maxie's kids are the only child actors on this show I like (Elizabeth's boys are nice, too, but they're older now). "I'm Magic" was the line of the episode. So true...Felicia Jones is magic! GH's own Elizabeth Montgomery.

Wow. So yesterday and today's episodes had much better pacing and I liked characters that I normally dislike: The Ava-Sonny scenes...finally the Nikolas twist is coming closer! The Cody-Dante-Sam scenes (what a perfect group of friends acting normally in that age group). The Curtis scenes...finally the character has gotten some meaty material and the actor is doing a great job with it. Hope they have him find solace with someone other than Portia! Willow remains boring as ever, but that final Michael scene where he's saying how lucky he is was sweet.

Alright, we're starting to sizzle a bit on GH with Ava getting slapped hard by the new nanny-plant! I hope the nanny keeps this energy and really messes Sonny up, too. The Pentonville stories are somewhat interesting...surprisingly. I wonder where they're going to go and who that third mob faction is led by...hopefully it's someone well cast. Carly taking over Kelly's and the Brownstone will be nice...probably the only decent thing this character has ever done since she came to Port Charles.

General Hospital: July 2023 Discussion Thread
The nunuMolly actress is actually like 4-5 years OLDER than the actress playing nuKristina, so it's not just looks. The whole dynamic between Alexis and her 3 daughters is a mess right now because of the miscasting (which really started with Sam being Alexis' daughter to begin with LOL but now that's the most normal one by comparison). They need to send Molly & TJ off into the sunset for a while and bring back Serena with a next generation Ward beau in tow. The TJ character's acting has been terrible lately and today was especially bad with the shouting and pounding the furniture. Curtis not walking could have some interesting implications for Curtis specifically, if they wanted to go there, but his entire family's perpetual hand-wringing and bad acting for years is just too much. Curtis should be with Anna, anyways, or with Jordan. That's a triangle that could have been interesting! It's terrible that they're turning Taggert into an alcoholic. Who is he going to end up driving drunk and killing? Please let it be Carly so I don't have to hear her whine about her $5 million fine again. It's a shame Sasha's going to Ferncliff alone. They should send Heather over to keep her company. I'm so ready for new characters doing new things-- like who Tracy's working with, who's calling the shots against Sonny (and using Ava & Austin to do it) and why do they also have Nikolas? Joss & Dex really are Barbie & Ken of GH right now. I wonder who called Joss...
