  1. This is great news. GH does a great job weaving in its history with its classic characters and casting. Frank Valentini is probably the best EP this show has had since Wendy Riche in the '90s.
  2. I agree! Imagine Lois coming back to Port Charles like a hurricane: the mother-daughter fights to manage Chase's musical career (😂), the Olivia-Lois rivalry over Ned (🤣). Hopefully Tracy Q can make some more cameos, too, as the ever meddling mother-in-law. Jane & Rena playing off each other would be delicious. GH does so well representing its veteran female characters (Lucy & Anna's scenes today were so cute), so I'm sure Lois will get treated well. I also like the Hope recast idea @Tonksadora. I had no idea Kristian Alfonso was no longer on the show. Rena Sofer has aged so beautifully, she still looks like she did in the '90s. Any soap would be lucky to have her!
  3. Terrible news for GH. Her character is so funny, tragic and compelling with so much story left to tell. Plus, the actress is the most gorgeous the show's had since the days of Vanessa Marcil and Rena Sofer. I doubt they'll recast; there's very few that could do what this actress does in this role. I hope she goes on recurring, at least, but if she's permanently leaving with no chance of return, then they should play out the Huntington's disease terminal story-- that's going to be so heartbreaking to watch like '90s GH! 🥰 Station 19 is ABC's #2 scripted series in the ratings after Grey's Anatomy, so she could end up being there multiple seasons if they keep her character on there. I wonder if all the shows film on the same studio lot? Josh Kelly (Cody Bell) was also on Station 19 previously.
  4. Esme is driving so much fun story on this show. Love seeing Ava & Nikolas' marriage exploding! Can't wait to see who Esme's mother is and how Laura & Kevin get sucked into it the plot once Ryan finally escapes. It'd be especially hilarious if somehow Ava ends up being Esme's mother 🤣 but there's a bunch of other possibilities given Ryan's sordid history. I don't think they've even explained how Esme found out or knows for sure Ryan is her father? She could end up being Kevin & Lucy's long lost kid, for all we know, once she inevitably reforms from being the show's primary young villain. I don't know why anyone's surprised about the court case being a bore, I always expected it to be as boring as the last one on this show. It's like the lowest-stakes, most convoluted things going to court ("revenge porn" being pinned on a heroine that'll get exonerated because there's such paper-thin evidence, "kidnapping" charged on another flawed heroine that didn't actually do any kidnapping and just withheld identifying information, and in both cases with the "victim" testifying for the defendant! This show has the dumbest fictional prosecutors and judges for even allowing these meritless cases going to trial 😂).
  5. LOL @ Joss calling Sonny's henchman "Mr. No-Neck" when the cute actor's got a neck like a swan. I'm really liking GH lately! All the character dynamics are balanced & entertaining. Everyone's got a secret. Even the Valentin & Anna dialogue was sweetly done today.
  6. The 15,000th episode was sweet. Love that Laura is now the well-earned beating heart of General Hospital. I'm not sure how she ended up with Kevin (last I saw him, he and Lucy were together on Port Charles 20 years ago before that show went crazy with the supernatural telenovela format- LOL), but it's a perfect pairing for this stage of her & his life. I thought the Scott & Laura flashback was so sweet. The actor playing Scott was so gorgeous in the '80s-- I can't believe Laura & the show's '80s audience would be rooting for Luke with his perm-fro and unconventional looks (not to mention a creepy rapist character) over Scott. WTF? The scene at the beauty parlor with Scott walking in to find 3 of his ex's plus Leisl was hilarious. All 6 female characters at the beauty parlor are in solid pairings and they're all, coincidentally, in their 60s. That's so rare on TV! 😄
  7. Monday's episode of GH was nice, like a comforting quilt stitched with familiar faces. Love how vital Laura & Martin-Tad, Kevin, Felicia & Mac, Kevin, Taggert, Anna, Alexis, etc. remain. The Esme-Cassadine story is definitely the most compelling. So glad they cast Victor with Charles Shaughnessy and brought back the Ryan Chamberlain character.
  8. Cassadine related stories are always a winning idea. The show has really raised the stakes and intensity on some long simmering stories all over the canvas. Liking what's happening! Hope it continues.
  9. He's hot and can act, so good move. The only downside to his character being on more is that we'll be seeing more of that annoying granddaughter Violet and Michael Easton's always boring stories.
  10. They should cancel the talk or game shows and bring back Capitol, Guiding Light and As The World Turns. Just air a rerun of those shows randomly on the low-rated timeslots and I bet the live ratings will be the same or better than what's currently airing. 😂 Better, yet, if they want to test the 'nostalgia' appeal, then hype up a week of retro-CBS rewind and re-run a whole week of shows from CBS' highest-rated historical week and see where things land in 2022. They should have done that during quarantine when everybody was home.
  11. GH leading up ABC with Josh Kelly's debut as Cody, Britt going on a drunken tirade into the swimming pool, Esme & Nicolas having an affair. Sounds like a promising start to summer! ABC really ought to cancel GMA3 and bring back one (or all) of its cancelled soaps. I don't see how the cost savings of a "live" news-entertainment show like that makes up for the longterm streaming revenue for a binge-worthy fictional series. GH gets a lot of viewers from Hulu/Disney+, after all. And DOOL is apparently doing well on Peacock to subsidize its NBC performance.
  12. Oooh...anything with Anna Friel is always good, especially since Pushing Daisies! This looks like an even more amped-up and sinfully soapier Nashville. I love Susan Sarandon--her acting and politics are both top-notch! Her television series debut with Feud was outstanding, so I'm looking forward to what's next.
  13. Interesting. He was also in Imposters, which lasted only 2 short seasons, but was especially good and soapy (particularly season 1).
  14. Aww...that's a sweet photo! Nice seeing 2 familiar faces like that (and not ruined by terrible cosmetic procedures like some other veterans).
  15. So what's the story with why B&B recast Taylor? Why did Hunter Tylo leave-- I thought her character died years ago? Krista Allen looks like a great recast for Hunter Tylo. I always remember her from that hilarious elevator slap in Liar, Liar. The entire B&B cast looks top-notch: Rena Sofer, Scott Clifton, Denise Richards, etc. I haven't seen B&B regularly since the '90s, but I'm tempted to check it out again just based on that cast in the opening sequence (which is the best among soaps and has been ever since GH got rid of "Faces of the Heart").
  16. Ryan is Esme's father (or so they think) and he told Esme to break Ava & Nicolas up. If they plan on keeping Esme around for the longer-term (the actress has the talent for it), then Uncle Kevin might end up being her literal (or surrogate) father(-figure). And Victor has a longer-term, slow burning plot involving all the Cassadines, so Esme & Nicolas' illicit affair will likely have some sort of wrinkle on whatever Victor's planning. LOL @ the line delivery today when Spencer said "like father like son" to Esme. Semi-incest stories on soaps-- it's been a while since we've seen that! 😂 I am going to love the dark turn Spencer's character will take when he finds out. I'm liking the end-of-episode reveals yesterday, with Michael being Dex's puppet-master against Sonny, and today, with Spinelli paying off "Zelda" to hide whatever he's doing to get Britt. So glad Brit is finally front-burner with a decent start to a promising romantic story line with Cody & maybe Spinelli (with the tragic slow-burn stakes and suspense of her Huntington's Disease manifesting at any point to cause her premature debility and death). Classic soap-y heroine! It's been so long since we've had one of those in the tradition of Erica, Dorian and Brenda. Yay!
  17. Mariah wrote that song just like she wrote 18 of her 19 #1 songs. When she interpolates or samples, she always gives credit. Her "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is an original co-written with her former writing partner and does not use a sample, but she produced it in the style of Phil Spector's 1960s wall-of-sound like in that classic song "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)." She made a music video in that style back in 1994: Mariah is set to get inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this month, so the timing is doubly suspect and seems like misogyny masked as a money-grab by Vince Vance, who is a thief and crooked con artist. He stole the melody for his flop song from this superior 1950s tune "My Heart Belongs To Only You" and did not credit those writers or give them royalties:
  18. The difference between all those other castings you all are complaining about and Josh Kelly is that he has auditioned for dozens of roles on film and television and gotten them. He's gotten those roles because he has the acting chops for drama, comedy and classic, All-American good looks. He's also a vet, so acting is his second career. He's a solid lead for a soap. The negative reception is way overboard. And, yes, defaming 2 actual human beings by implying and outright saying there was sexual favors given/received in the hiring process is beyond gross.
  19. I think the innuendo and tone of the comments in here are borderline toxic. Even if you don't like his recent creative choices, there's no reason to impugn Frank Valentini's character. No actor has ever said a bad word about Valentini's professionalism in 20 years, unlike other producers of daytime soaps whose malfeasance (Rauche) and terrible hiring practices ("FOJ") are public record. Josh Kelly is the best addition to the GH cast since they brought Spencer back. He can act, does well with comedy and drama, and is very easy on the eyes (I don't know why they've introduced him with the unflattering scruffy look, though). I'd much rather see him on my screen than basically most of GH's aging male leads or the bland Brando.
  20. Josh Kelly is a great comedic actor and super hot. He does drama well, too. I loved him on Unreal, OLTL and all those other roles listed in that article. He dropped in today and is already making waves! 😂🥰 GH can get rid of the bland trio of Roger Howarth, Michael Easton and that guy that's married to the Face of Deception. So bland I don't even know his name, but the character that plays his mother Gladys is a keeper!
  21. June has started out hot & hilarious in Port Charles! Love Britt & the new guy that fell from the sky, already. That guy is played by Josh Kelly and he's been hot & funny in every role I've seen him in before. Perfect casting and perfect pairing with Kelly Thiebaud's Britt, especially since they're not going to rekindle Britt & Nicolas (I love they're new snarky relationship: "next time I see you back at GH, you better be sick or dying. hope to see you soon!" 🤣 ). Nicolas & Esme's sex scene was hilarious, too. I'm loving the story potential of that affair reverberating on Spencer, Ava, Laura, Kevin/Ryan, Victor, etc.
  22. Aww...how sad! Bechtel's Spencer was probably the most charming child character in GH's history (right up there with Robin and Lucky). They should NOT have recast him. He was so cute, so funny, so much more entertaining in his smaller stories than the major adult story lines on the show during those years. I loved his character's relationship with Britt and Laura, especially, but he also played well off all the other veteran actors playing Luke, Tracy, Edward, Sonny, Helena, etc. The new Spencer recast looks like he's related to the the recast now playing his father, but he's doomed if he's already mired in the annoying teen set led by Joss, Cam and Trina. This new PCU class is the worst in generations. They need to cast a new Brenda and Jagger quick to salvage that boring whole class of Karens.
  23. LOL @ that cheesy '90s goodness in that video (and wow @ the choreography of getting her to piggyback him like that). I love how Vanessa Marcil went from being in Prince's "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" music video to having her GH character run an indie record label to actually hosting "ABC in Concert" during those years. Ricky Martin would not have exploded into the pop culture scene in the late '90s without first being introduced to the millions of female viewers of GH with the Brenda-related story lines. Was GH the only soap to have such a core front and center Latino cast of characters? That was so smart of them.
  24. Britt always looks great, but the underarm sweat stains on the fabric were so distracting. Is the GH studio set that hot? I'll forgive that minor sin, since she gave a cute little Spencer shout-out today and, even more miraculously, she's helped Jason seem interesting to watch after a century of doldrums. The last time he was this animated in scenes was when he had the Vegas wedding with Brenda, I think. I'm liking Ned becoming more like his grandfather, too. I can't wait for this Brooklyn story to blow up into the juicy mess it's surely going to turn into-- the casting decision to have this former OLTL actress take over the role was pitch perfect as Tracy Quartermaine's granddaughter.
