ALL: General Retro Soap Discussion
You mean John Silva, not Cena. Maybe Cena was there too since U Can't See Him. On GL, we had Ed Bauer and Prince Edmund in the 2000s. In the final years, there was Remy Bordreaux's girlfriend Christine on GL and Christina Thorpe who went by Blake.

Re: Frasier move to Tuesday. NBC moved Frasier to Tuesdays because they felt an aging Roseanne was vulnerable. ABC's counter move was to switch no. 1 Home Improvement from Wednesday with Roseanne on Tuesday.

As a teen, I wanted more characters to be killed off because of the on-screen drama that would ensue. Anything less I would've considered anti-climatic and a cop-out. It seemed that most all murders were happening on abc and nbc and cbs was playing it TOO safe. That's why I didn't mind seeing Maureen die, that should've created angst for years but the follow-up was practically non-existent.

ARTICLE: ‘NBC News Daily’ Soars In Key Demos, ‘General Hospital’ Up Among Viewers – RATINGS
Any new soap would go to Peacock, not NBC. Broadcast tv is practically dead. Days seems to do well on Peacock, so I could see them adding some original soaps over there. On the other hand, CBS adding a soap in 2025 was a pleasing surprise. I just think Peacock would be a better fit because Days is on there. NBC could easily air day-old Days episodes and I don't think that would destroy Peacock viewership..

They threw that SA in there to explain why he was a monster. Made Fletcher look bad as he was so protective of Meg but was so oblivious to what was supposedly happening to Ben. I hated ConJob more than ANY creative team-- they put the final nail in the grave. Wheeler just stomped on the grave. Between the Ben stuff and the crappy remake of Long's family fathers plot from '83- it was just horrid. I remember the groaning online when Ed slapped Michelle. Sure, it was NSA's Michelle-- but c'mon!

BTG: April 2026 Discussion Thread
Since I agree with the laughing gif, let me explain why... Its just silly to invest in more sets, espescially since the show is pretty young. Yes, the idea is laughable-- look at GL towards the end, there are more important things to I'd much rather them spend $$ on some a-name Soap actors than an extra set piece or two.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
NBC's saturday 8pm hour fell apart with Facts of Life gone, they should've picked up the FoL spinoff/continuation show with Blair running the now inter-gendered academy. NBC had a strong second comedy night there for a few years.

My favorite Reva storyline post-Annie was when Jonathan came to town. It was such karmic goodness, Reva's mini me. His diabolical plan to tear her family up. I have sympathy for GL viewers having to deal with two Revas with TP and KZ having the same over-the-top acting styles. I find that style very classic soap camp, but I get that some prefer more subtle performances.

It was kinda unusual for the time, for both Josh and Blake to have multiple children with only one partner. Given how many Reva kids popped out of the woodwork must've been great restraint to not give Josh kids where he had plenty of opportunities... knocking up Morgan on her way out of town, 84-86 in Venuzuela and 91-93 in Italy.

@alwaysAMC its also pretty cool that MKA is a direct desendent of our 2nd US President- John Adams. I hated how they wrote her off of ATWT with no chance of returning. She was such a good fit with Lucinda as her sister. I recently saw her cameo on an old OLTL as Death-- that was a pleasant surprise.

Anihillater was an unsold pilot, it was a mix of The Terminator and Invasion of the Body Snatchers as humans are replaced by terminator type robots.

Absolutely. Rauch heralded the move in the soap press as it was one of the last moves he did as EP, along with commissioning the "50 Years on Television" intro. It felt very forced and there was little thought put into the characters. At the same time, sister soap ATWT was giving Y&R a run for its money with its prominent black scene: Jessica, Ben, Issac, Bonnie, Camille...
