  1. I think for both reasons but a little more for the actress. She's been phoning it in for awhile now and also the character herself has grown unlikable as well. I just think Tognoni would've hit the ball out of the park as Victoria and was horribly miscast as Phyllis.
  2. Disclaimer: i was personally fond of Another Wotld throughout the 80s so the following is purely based on the show"s ratings and stagnant viewership. I think more than anything, NBC has just had bad luck with soaps. NBC could've easily have replaced in the mid '80s a year or two after Santa Barbara. AW was an injured horse in pain that needed put out of its misery. NBC was number one in prime time and I would argue that they should've tried a flashy new soap at 2. After all SB was steadily growing during its first few years which was eventually halted by BTS issues. I think they should've re-worked the failed 1986 prime-time soap pilot Covenant. Conceived as a blend of Dallas and Dark Shadows by producers of Knots Landing.
  3. How about Eileen Fulton's Lisa tripping over her dead husband in her return to ATWT.
  4. While she would've rocked the role, I'd prefer her to go back full time to ATWT.
  5. Absolutely. I almost mentioned him but I interpretated the question as that there had to be a recast in-between. Like Tognoni as Phyllis or any other recast that is replaced by "the real one." And the queen of amped up returns.. Brenda Dickson as Jill on Y&R.
  6. True. I kinda like Alex but there's so many actors who would've loved a crack at the character. I would add Y&R's Phillip III. I think that Thom (?) had the similar limitations that Michael O'Leary has as GL's Rick.
  7. Instances where an actor could be holding back a character's potential. GL Rick Bauer. There was more potential for the character but he was slways regulated to sidekick or a familiar face. So many times I think another actor could knock it out of the park. Examples being the back history with Annie, the marriage to Abby and the heart transplant plot. As a legacy character of the once core family he should've been way more front burner. Also Harley. When Ehlers left they certainly should've recast, SORAS at least one of her sons and appropriately recast Daisy. Whether you liked Harley or not, she was a big tent pole of the show. If written out, Harley needed to be gradually phased out and not dismissed with throwaway lines about being in Greece.
  8. Grant Alexander and Peter Simon on GL. Made you instantly forget the interim actors in the roles of Phillip and Ed.
  9. Does anyone have any thoughts why DOOL and AW expanded but outside of a test episode, the Doctors wasn't? Was the test episode poorly received? You would think a solid three-hour/three show block would do better than having a bloated AW. 2:30. then later 2pm was a death blow for AW, as it would linger for twenty more years but never again really be competitive.
  10. Best. ATWT: Cady McClain, Roseanne Hunt Block, Craig Roger Howarth, Paul DOOL: Cady McClain, Jennifer Rose Abigail Klein, Stephanie GL: Gina Tognoni, Dinah Daniel Cosgrove, Bill Esme Rylan, Lizzy Jeff Branson, Shayne OTLT: Karen Witter, Tina. Not as good as AE, but close and definitley better than the other Tina recasts.
  11. BB: Brooke, Ridge, Eric. Steffy, hope, Liam and Bill.
  12. All these years later and it still makes me mad, how they ignored so much of the show's very rich history.
  13. I had one of those. Would listen to it on Summer vacations. I remember listening to Ross and Blake's (GL) first wedding. And of course it's full circle back to the radio days. I've heard my grandma used to listen to GL while gardening.
  14. GH Sonny YR Sally DAYS EJ/Gabi
  15. I didn't buy Dru and Sharon's friendship. Yes, they both hated Phyllis butit still felt forced and awkward to me.
  16. Bit of an age difference.
  17. Interesting how Ross/Justin and Mike/Ed were both lawyer/Doctor siblings. Ross and his BFF relationship basically filled the void of Mike. Too bad Mike didn't have a meatier return in 1997. I guess Don Stewart was difficult to work with, but still... After Peter Simon left would've been a great time for Mike to return, especially with his niece married to the mob. It would've been a great, additional angle to the Santos era. Strange that they brought in Robert Gentry back as Ed and basically treated him as a dayplayer. They probably didn't bother to ask the more popular Mart Hulswit.
  18. Springfield. A lawyer, maybe in a practice with Ross.
  19. Re: Days. I could easily see that being the outcome. Sounds real soapy.
  20. GL,The Reardons: Bea. Maureen, Nola, Tony and Jim. AW: The McKinnons: Vince, Mary, Kathleen, mj. Cheryl and cousin Jake. Nobody mentioned SFT's McClearly clan yet. 🙃
  21. Love the ego of Nate. He leaves medicine for two minutes and suddenly he thinks he an expert on business. Even moreso than Devon. Victoria is just using the sap as a puppet, joke on him.
  22. The entire cast of b&b. Days: Sarah, Kristen, Susan,
  23. Days: nuStephanie is a stunner. Also Chloe and Gabi. Y&R: Sally, Amanda and Ashley. Maybe Chloe. GH: Liz and Felicia.
  24. That was around the time Beverley McKinsey left. Marj Dusay was very serviceable at first until mustache twirling Ron Raines came on as Alan. The two of them camped so hard, as the once nuanced characters became one-dimensional cartoons.
  25. Maureen and Vanessa, GL Maureen and Roger, GL Ross and Ed. GL Vanessa and Jenna. GL Barbara and Lisa, ATWT
