BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
There was a primetime soap in the 2021-2022 season called "Our Kind of People" about wealthy Black residents of the town of Oak Bluffs on Nantucket Island off the coast of Massachusetts. They had all sorts of high society events, including a debutante cotillion; and another month there was a glamourous ball

Actually it was this one, which has nothing big in it. The FCC chair objected to Kimmel's suspicion that Kirk's murderer might be rightwing. Kimmel's comment at about 2 minutes in: "We had some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them"

Well not entirely. ABC/Disney is putting Kimmel back on the air, but many stations won't air it. The Sinclair-owned ABC channels still won't air Kimmel, at least not yet, and that's a lot of stations. -- update on page five (Link) of the Kimmel primetime thread. Edit to add: the Nexstar-owned stations are refusing as well, at least for tonight.

fyi, there's a whole separate thread about the Kimmel suspension in the primetime section. https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/69392-abc-pulls-“jimmy-kimmel-live”-from-air-indefinitely-following-hosts-charlie-kirk-comments/ Honestly, it's hard for me to know whether to post about the Kimmel situation in that separate primetime Kimmel thread -- or here in the politics thread -- because it's equally relevant to both. Both threads are valid. I don't think it matters which thread we use. Just sayin' check both for updates. I've tried posting in both but I just don't have the personal time/energy right now to continue posting in both.

GH: September 2025 Discussion Thread
Amber Tamblyn was the only Emily Quartermaine for me. I just couldn't get into Natalia Livingston's Emily. I know Natalia's Emily has appeared as a spirit to usher characters into the afterlife. But I'd prefer Amber's Emily to do that for Monica. Amber did appear on the GH 60th anniversary primetime special that aired in January 2024, so it seems she does feel connection with the show.

No wedding yet. They just now had viewers pick out Cricket's wedding dress as a promotion. Presumably, next, they'll film the actual wedding with her wearing whatever the viewers chose. Just guessing that's how/when.

That is your opinion. It's not an objective fact about what late night is "supposed to be".

"obsessed" ? No. Just commenting on the horrendous current events created by Tr*mp and crew. There is nothing obsessive about commenting on that chaos.

ABC pulls “Jimmy Kimmel Live” from air indefinitely following host's Charlie Kirk comments
Jimmy Kimmel has been doing political commentary in his monologues for years. This is nothing new. The FCC chair Brendan Carr threatened Disney about the Charlie Kirk comment because of Carr's personal political agenda. Carr contributed to writing the FCC portion of the Project 2025 document, and he seized this situation as a way to further his own agenda.

https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/jimmy-kimmel-returns-late-night-disney-tuesday-1236525670/ And yet, after Kimmel was taken off the air, Disney faced protest from the creative community. On Monday, 400 celebrities — including people like Martin Short and Tom Hanks, who have created memorable characters for Disney in the recent past — signed a letter from the American Civil Liberties Union decrying the blow the maneuver delivered to free speech in America. First Amendment advocates from both sides of the political aisle have decried the situation in recent days. The decision to bring Kimmel back was approved by Bob Iger, Disney’s CEO, and Dana Walden, co-chair of Disney Entertainment, according to a person familiar with the matter. The executives acted based on what was best for the company, this person said, and not on external factors. Indeed, it remains unclear if all ABC affiliates will air Kimmel’s program. Spokespersons for Nexstar and Sinclair could not be reached for immediate comment.

https://bsky.app/profile/matthewjdowd.bsky.social/post/3lz4izcf7ek2w Matthew Dowd, former Republican who changed to Democrat after disagreeing with George W. Bush, was a commentator on MSNBC. MSNBC fired him for his Kirk comments. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/sep/11/msnbc-fires-matthew-dowd-charlie-kirk-shooting On September 10, 2025, Matthew Dowd said on-air on MSNBC, commenting on the assassination of Charlie Kirk: "He's been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this, who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups. And I always go back to, hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions. And I think that is the environment we are in. You can't stop with these sort of awful thoughts you have and then saying these awful words and not expect awful actions to take place. And that's the unfortunate environment we are in." Dowd also speculated that the shooter may have been a supporter, stating: "We don't know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration. So we have no idea about this." Later that day, MSNBC president Rebecca Kutler denounced Dowd's comments, saying, "During our breaking news coverage of the shooting of Charlie Kirk, Matthew Dowd made comments that were inappropriate, insensitive, and unacceptable. We apologize for his statements, as has he. There is no place for violence in America, political or otherwise." That evening, Dowd was fired from MSNBC.

😂 This post is everything! "Well, isn't his plan obvious? He's going to convert one of his train cars to a diner." omg and all the details you laid out. I mean it's just as plausible on anything else on this show. Your Antarctica scenario!

I'm objecting to the governor of California stating that he admired a white supremacist because he sometimes said racist sh!t in a "nice" way. Here's an example of what Kirk really thought: https://bsky.app/profile/localnotail.bsky.social/post/3lzbov5xg7c2s
