Seriously, why not just write John off with cancer? No need for all this over-the-top drama.

Jennifer Brooks had insisted that life go on since all her family knew that death might be eminent for her. Brock had given them a philosophy by which to live. "God grant me the serenity to accept that which I cannot change, the courage to change that which I am able and the wisdom to know the difference." Lorie asked her father to let her give a big party for the family and friends to celebrate her parents' thirtieth wedding an-niversary. He disapproved until Lorie said this was not a reminder of how little time there was, but a celebration of the life they had had together. Jennifer was pleased and looked forward to the party. That evening, Stuart gave Jennifer her anniversary gift before the party rather than after. It was a diamond heart pendant to symbolize the heart he gave her long ago — his own. Lance and Lorie gave them a trip to Paris as a gift. Stuart had wanted to take Jennifer away, but she wouldn't leave the girls with their problems. The party was such a success that Jennifer told Stuart that this had been the most wonderful night of her life. Jennifer slipped away in Stuart's arms that night, clutching her pendant. Stuart called Lorie who located all her sisters and asked them to meet at their parents'. He explained that their mother felt no pain and was happy as she passed peacefully away. Peggy felt she should have been home for her mother rather than visiting a friend, but Stuart said it was sudden. Lorie blamed herself for giving the party which was probably too much. Stuart told her how much that party meant to Jennifer. Brock came by to tell them that Jennifer had him draw up instructions for her burial and wanted only her family with her. He also had a letter for Stuart. She wrote him this love letter in case she didn't have the opportunity to tell him in person how much their life together had meant to her and this is why she wanted him to remarry. Snapper visited his mother after he learned of Jennifer's death. He felt he hadn't seen enough of her recently. After the funeral, Peggy told her sisters that she would not be going away to school. She was the only one left to care for their father because Chris and Lorie had husbands and Leslie had a career. Stuart insisted that Peggy finish packing and catch her plane to school as planned. Chris was worried about her father after Snapper told her to keep an eye on him because grieving husbands could become ill as they didn't remember to eat. She called to insist that she was coming over to fix his dinner and found that Liz was there. Liz asked him for an extra key so that she could do the laundry and cleaning to repay him for earlier kindnesses.

https://www.tvinsider.com/1180503/denise-alexander-dead-general-hospital-lesley-webber/ Alexander made her soap opera debut as Lois Adams on The Clear Horizon in 1960, but her big break came in 1966 when she was cast as Susan Hunter Martin on Days of Our Lives while still attending college at UCLA. As Susan, Alexander played a host of dramatic tales, including murdering her husband David Martin (played by Clive Clerk) in May 1967 after the death of their son. “She started out as the bad girl and was thrown out of boarding school for smoking and drinking,” recalled Alexander to We Love Soaps TV. “The character caught on and sparked something with the audience, and that is how Susan became an important part of the show. I was there for almost seven years…. I had such a wonderful time on Days. It was like going to camp every day for me. I loved the people, loved the show, and loved what I got to do. They loved the character and liked me as an actor and gave me lots of neat stuff to do. I didn’t even ask for a vacation for five years because if I worked 365 days a year, I thought I was great. It was a very good time in my life.” In 1973, Alexander was in contract negotiations with Days when ABC offered significant perks to the actress to join General Hospital to play Dr. Lesley Williams. Though Alexander loved her time in Salem, she decided to leave. “It was [Days’ Executive Producer] Betty Corday who sent me to General Hospital,” Alexander told welovesoaps.net. “She said, ‘You must do this.’ So when I went to General Hospital..."- DAYS: March 2025 Discussion Thread

Great questions about Young and the Restless history! Did Nikki interact with John Abbott during her marriage to Jack? I believe she must have had some scenes with her father-in-law, but were they substantial or just passing moments? What about Nikki and Traci's relationship? Did they develop any meaningful connection, or were their interactions mostly limited to family gatherings and formal events? Has Nikki visited the Abbott mansion at different periods throughout the show's history? I'm curious if there were specific storylines that brought her there besides her marriage to Jack. Were there any memorable confrontations or heart-to-heart conversations between Nikki and any Abbott family members at their home that stood out in the show's long history?- Home and Away: Discussion Thread

interesting 👇 So, too, was Braeden’s whole experience of working opposite Davidson. “I was really upset when she left,” he admits. As a result, Braeden had a difficult time accepting the actress who succeeded her, Brenda Epperson. “The transition was not the easiest for me,” Braeden admits. “I did not behave exceedingly well with her at first. I was not too nice to her. I missed the old Ashley very much. I’m very honest about that. “I have since learned to love working with her,” he continues. “She’s a joy to work with, a genuinely warm, kind person, and beautiful to look at. I don’t know exactly what the turning point was. Maybe I finally realized I was being an ass in a sense… It’s not that I was nasty with her. It’s just that I held back. I didn’t give of myself in those early scenes. Then, I got used to her. I began to watch her carefully and see a talent in her. I also began [feeling] upset about my being so unprofessional as to hold back. Brenda and I have since talked about it. I have apologized to her. I’m very enamored of Brenda now,” Braeden insists.- Home and Away: Discussion Thread

The whole Renee/Tony/DiMera storyline had so much more to give. They really cut it short with that Salem Slasher murder. And man, hearing how tight the cast was - gathering at someone's house to break that awful news about Brenda before it hit the media... that's real family right there.- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos

Nemeses Reunited Another highlight from Loring’s return to DAYS is a scene between Liz and her longtime nemesis, Marie. Decades ago, the two characters were both involved with same man, Neil Curtis. “It was so much fun, because I got to be snarky, and she was fabulous,” says Loring of co-star Maree Cheatham(Marie), who brought her A game during their confrontation. “There was so much energy and so much focus, and she was just perfection. Actually, I had never met her before, because she wasn’t playing Marie when I did that storyline.” The late Lanna Saunders played Marie from 1979 to 1985.) While Loring and Cheatham were thrust into playing adversaries on screen, they quickly bonded off camera. “I said, ‘I would love to sit and talk with you a little more off set,’ ” shares Loring. “So we did that. We decided we wanted to get together, and I went to her house. She has beautiful pottery and has all these amazing collections. Then we went to lunch and just had a wonderful visit. It was really nice.” Suffice it to say that Loring had a wonderful time during her DAYS return, and she’d consider popping back into Salem again for a visit. “If it was a one-day sort of thing, sure,” says the actress. “But I started supporting myself because I had to when I was 18. And so by the time I got to a certain point and I had been working for 54 years, I went, ‘You know what? That’s enough already.’ I have six grandchildren now. I want to be there to pick them up after school. I worked through one of my children’s [sons Brennan Thicke and Robin Thicke of Masked Singer fame, with her late ex-husband, sitcom star Alan Thicke] Christmases on Days of Our Lives, because we didn’t get any days off. So I remember not being there for my family, because of certain commitments I made to the show. But I’d do another quick thing like this where I could come into town and stir something up.” Loring has many memories from her first run on DAYS too, including the Liz-Don-Marlena and Liz-Neil-Marie triangles, her character’s stint in prison after accidentally shooting Marie, and Liz herself getting shot on a few occasions. “I used to go out on weekends and do concerts, which I had been doing long before I joined the show and after I left. I would say, ‘I played Liz Chandler on Days of Our Lives.’ People would ask, ‘Why did you leave?’ And I said, ‘Well, because they shot me every two years, whether I needed it or not,’ ” Loring delivers with a chuckle, noting that she also fondly recalls Liz’s many performances at Doug’s Place. “’You Were Always On My Mind’ was the song that I always sang. That was Liz’s song for Neil.”
