More investment in storylines, instead of just repeating the same scene in every episode would make all these characters a lot more sympathetic (and interesting) too

Haha I missed the first two years so she was the first Gwen I saw. I didn't like her either lol but it still pales in comparison to the hatred I felt for Liza's Gwen 😂 She was hands down one of the worst and most pathetic characters in soap history.

It's probably just temporary angst in order to fulfill their episode guarantees. I think it would be smart though if because of this, Xander starts to suspect that Sarah still has feelings for Eric, which would weave them into the whole Jada/Eric/Nicole/Rafe situation. But yeah, this'll probably be forgotten about by next week, which is a problem on the show in general right now: there's no long term investment in some storylines
