  1. According to IMDB, Mary Sheldon subbed as Donna Logan for a few eps in 1991. Does anyone happen to know the episode numbers? Before that, Mary Sheldon played Nan on YR from 1989-90. Nan was the birth mother of Carol and Skip’s baby.
  2. NYT gift article profile of the Plex network https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/28/movies/plex-streaming-service.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Gk4.Jx1Y.yCZstVM8vwvK&smid=url-share (Why isn’t Knots included in their list of highlights
  3. KM was on Dirty Soap in 2011, saying she figured GH would be canceled at some point in the near future, and she knew she had to diversify her income. She was shown going to conventions, looking for licensing opportunites IIRC So - she's had 13 years to prepare for no longer having GH.
  4. I started watching the original air mid-season 5, at 12 years old 😊 and I stuck it out until the bitter end. What kept me gripped to KL through season 8 was this feeling in the air… a tension… unseen malevolent forces… manipulating and threatening these characters’ lives, who I’d grown to care so much about. Season 9: as mentioned, the Peter murder story resolves in a most underwhelming way. And from there – the tension just completely deflates. The urgency pushing the stories forward was not there for me anymore. The Laura death was a quality distraction from this, but once the funeral was over, we were back to the same situation. Mid-season 9: Jill starts some odd behavior.. consulting a handwriting expert; splicing together recordings of Ben’s voice. This was a turn back in the right direction. Jill’s story accelerated to the unparalleled Jill/Val season 9 finale sequence, and continued well into season 10, bringing back some of that classic Knots I was missing. But the other stories around that time just didn’t compare. I was so excited for Peter Reckell’s debut, and what a bust that turned out to be. The Williams started out strong but faded into the background. Abby vacillated back and forth on whether to be a “good person”. The other lead story for the s9 finale was Michael and Paige’s peril in Mexico, and wow, did that pale in comparison to Jill and Val. From then on forward, I watched every week, every season, hoping in vain for a solid return to the classic Knots, and it never happened for me. There were some bright moments, like LPL as Linda. Season 14 really did a decent job of wrapping things up. To sum up, peak Knots for me ended for me after Laura’s death, with a brief return-to-form thanks to Jill and Val.
  5. I think Victor might have been shown to have deep feelings for Lorie. After she dumps him at the altar, Victor goes through a mourning period in Aug ‘82, with Douglas comforting him.
  6. I remember being excited in ‘88 to read that Judith Light’s husband was joining Knots Landing, but I found Robert Desiderio to be a real snore as Ted.
  7. Loved the story, except for the rushed unsatisfying resolution with no lasting repercussions.
  8. Season 6 theme is peak, IMO
  9. It’s interesting to look at season 5 original air dates. The show aired in consecutive weeks, even Thanksgiving week where you can see a drop in the rating. It’s not like now, where network tv airs a number of episodes and then waits for the next sweeps period to air the next new eps. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Knots_Landing_episodes#Season_5_(1983–84)
  10. One could make an argument that Diana’s irrational behavior and blind love for Chip resulted from her unresolved grieving for Sid, but… the writing didn’t really support that. As is, Diana just seems generically unwell mentally.
  11. Same here, I noticed the shift Aug ‘93 once the initial Belief story and Macy alcoholism story had peaked.
  12. Do we know in what episode in ‘94 that Rebecca Budig played Cathy? https://www.tvinsider.com/1146946/rebecca-budig-joins-bold-and-the-beautiful-taylor-hayes-interview/
  13. Yes! That is circa Oct-Nov ‘92
  14. Don’t think Nikki had any reason to slap Ryan first half of 92…
  15. Sorry, you have a few more months to go, haha Remember how the April story stopped all the sudden at beginning of May? I don't have proof of this, but my theory is - it wasn't supposed to stop. Michael Damian was supposed to leave for Joseph, and then Cricket and Paul would transition straight to the April story. Instead, Michael Damian's broadway debut was delayed, so he stayed on the show another 6 months... the April story was delayed 6 months... and the writers came up with the "senior citizen" story to keep Cricket and Paul busy during the interim. And Bernadette was kept around
  16. There was never resolution to the character and she wasn't portrayed as a villain like Phyllis. She just had a crush on Danny. To me, she was boring and pointless. In real-life, the actress playing Bernadette, Kelli Rabke, co-starred with Michael Damian in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on Broadway.
  17. Don’t think it ever got romantic with Casey and Brock… Things were heating up with Brock and Julia when Beau K decided to quit in Sept 80. Don’t know if they were well-received by viewers… Peggy was married to Jack Curtis and engaged to Steve Williams but neither was a healthy relationship. Her fling with Jack Abbott sounded more fun! In a more enlightened era, I think Peggy could come out as gay or bi
  18. They chem-tested Casey with Snapper, Lucas, and Jonas, but nothing clicked. Edward the stalker was originally obsessed with Casey, but the writers changed course, writing Casey out and transferring Edward's obsession to Nikki. The show was nice to give RobertaL some work when they brought Casey back from '85-89, but the character was a pale photocopy of the original version. Casey 2.0 was just a talk-to for Nikki
  19. Picturing Kay and Dina’s friendship got me thinking up a 1960s-set YR flashback spin-off! I think it’s pretty good… someone get Josh Griffith on the phone! I know all the timelines don’t sync up but just roll with it… Dina chafes at mothering baby Jack and needs a distraction. Kay introduces her to tennis instructor Brent Davis. Wayward teens Brock and Lorie start sleeping together and dream of departing to Europe. Lorie does all she can to sabotage her prodigy sister Leslie. The Foster family is stable. But suddenly, Bill Sr is fired from his bookkeeping job… Teens Snapper and Greg are played by the hottest new young actors in Hollywood. Jill will be played by a child actor, and rarely seen… though she will show a talent for hair and make-up. Pregnant teen Sally’s degenerate father is murdered. Rookie detectives Carl Williams and Frank Lewis are on the case.
  20. Kay had zero friends at her ’74 introduction and moving forward, due to her selfish nature, bitterness and alcoholism. It would be impossible for her to invite Jennifer to lunch or bring her flowers, unless she thought Jennifer could somehow assist her in holding on to Phillip or Derek. There was backstory that Kay was friends with Dina Abbott, but I picture it was a superficial booze-fueled connection Kay’s first true friend, where Kay gave without expecting something in return, might be Liz in the late 70s. If not Liz, it would be Nikki.
  21. In Sept 75 Liz tells Kay that Jennifer has breast cancer. Kay knew Jennifer’s daughter Lorie. I think that’s the only connections, at least through ‘75.
  22. There’s the classic unanswered question from Abby to Gary mid-Season 2 “Are you ready for me now Gary?” 😄🤣 which could have been interpreted multiple ways. It took a season for that to pay off. Personally I liked the slow burn… whether intentional or not by the writers.
  23. What a wonderfully written tribute! Heartwarming and heartbreaking for many reasons. Thanks for sharing.
  24. Gasp! We were just talking about him. So young 😕 RIP
