  1. I just watched Weapons and did not realize until the credits that Cary Christopher (Thomas DiMera) played Alex. I knew he looked familiar but I could not place him. The kid was brilliant. Great movie too.
  2. But that was not the question I was answering.

  4. The rumour was that Gwen’s scenes were originally written for Willis. When Leon Russom did not return they gave the scenes to Dorothy Lyman. The scenes made sense for Willis but less sense for Gwen. Although I blame most of it on Dorothy’s performance. She plays it a bit too over the top for the Gwen I remember. Regardless it gave important backstory on Evan.
  5. Or don’t bring Hilary Edson on as Stacey.
  6. With the proper set up and good writing most popular characters can be brought back with success.
  7. Anna Holbrook was brilliant but that doesn’t mean Heineman would not also have been.
  8. How do you know bringing back Laurie Heineman would not have worked? She was a talented actress.
  9. I do agree with this “kept the McKinnons, kept Nicole, had a decent Sam recast, saved Maisie and Quinn from the Sin stalker, had an African-American family built around Zack or Quinn, etc.”
  10. I disagree. I also had no memory of Pat but loved whenever AW reintroduced someone from the past (I.e. Sharlene, Russ). I enjoyed learning about their past and would have been happy for Liz and the Matthews family to get more airtime.
  11. Anna Holbrook was brilliant as Sharlene. I just don't believe the role needed to be recast since Heineman wanted to return. A new role should have been created for Holbrook.
  12. Interesting. 1991 is one of my last favourite years. The returns of Kathleen and Carl. Jake blackmailing Paulina. Sharlene/ Sharly, John and Taylor. The introduction of Lorna Devon. There were definitely some parts if the show I did not like but overall I thought it was very good.
  13. In my opinion Fall of 1988 through the end of 1994 are the last good years of Another World. A large number of those episodes are available.
  14. Personally I would start with the earliest episodes available. But I understand you may want to start with consistent episodes. I can DM you some playlists if you are interested.
  15. By marriage. She is not a Frame sibling. The question was "Which of the original Frame siblings was your favorite?"
  16. As a fan of Beverly Penberthy's I am interested in getting updates on her. I believe her son gave an update at the reunion. Or at least I am pretty sure that is how the information filtered back to me.
  17. I was born in 1972 and my earliest memories are from 1977. - I only saw David Bailey as Russ and did not remember him when he returned in 1989. I would say the majority of fans prefer Sam Groom. - I loved Charlie and he is the only one I remember. He should not have been killed off. There is a list of characters who should not have been killed off for another discussion. I wish I could remember Dolph Sweet's Gil because I was a huge fan of Gimme a Break. - Janice # 2 (Christine Jones) was delicious. I did not see Victoria Thompson in the role. Anna Holbrook's Sharlene was a favourite of mine. I have no memory of Laurie Heineman. I do wish they would have brought back Heineman in 1988 and created a new role for Anna. Another World did way too much unnecessary recasting. That is yet another separate discussion. - I have no memory of any of them except for Cass and Brian. Paul Stevens (Brian) is part of actors who I think of as my Another World so he is at the top for me. But Bay City would not have been the same with Cass.
  18. 👍 Now back to the (formerly) continuing story of Another World. 😀
  19. How is it unfair? He wrote the birth of Amanda so therefore he is the original creator of the character. Sure subsequent writers developed her personality and in some cases changed it.
  20. Lemay created more characters. They are listed by year of introduction on The Another World Homepage. ANOTHER WORLD: ANNUAL STATUS CHARTS
  21. “But I was also taught a great lesson the first month I was at ANOTHER WORLD by Connie Ford, who played Ada. I had written a final tag speech in one of the crucial scenes. And when I got to the rehearsal, Connie cut the entire speech and did just one line from it. Now she was a wonderful actress, a very laconic actress, and didn’t need a lot of language. And I realized something: you write to what the actor does. And I never overwrote a scene for her again.” I would consider this changing her lines. He wrote to what the actor does unless he did not like the actor. We Love Soaps: Harding Lemay Interview: Part Two
  22. Harding Lemay makes it quite clear in Eight Years in Another World and in interviews that he did not respect Dwyer and Courtney’s talent. They were “soap” actors and he preferred stage actors. He was more than fine with Constance Ford changing Ada’s lines but was insulted when Dwyer did it. I loved Lemay’s Another World but so many of his new characters only lasted 1-2 years. In my opinion getting rid of Courtney and Dwyer were the biggest blunders in the shows history. And there were many blunders.
  23. Just like with Chad there is no reason to recast Javi. Both characters should be rested for a while. The writers should be using these openings in the cast to bring on Hortons, Bradys and Carvers.
