  1. Agreed. Friendships and family relationships just aren't explored that way anymore. AW, even the last couple of years in its run, still did friendships and family dynamics beautifully. I remember when Matt told Rachel that he had gotten Lila pregnant. Mom wasn't happy but still told her son that she loved him and would stand by him. The one thing I can't remember is who was playing Matt then - if it was Brian Krause or Jeff Phillips. Matt Crane returned after baby Jasmine was born.
  2. I'd never heard of her either, but wow - definitely some great credits there.
  3. I never understood why they didn't put Donna and Matt back together at show's end. Both characters were unattached and neither had much of a story up to that point, so what a wasted opportunity not to have them ride off into the sunset together.
  4. Those photos are great. I especially love the one of PSM and AC.
  5. Welcome, Dave!! I too hope that someday we get to see any pre-December 1967 episodes that may be out there. I've gotten hooked, too, from the approximately 8 1/2 months of episodes that Retro TV has run thus far. Also, thanks again to Carl and others who have tirelessly posted so many great articles and interviews.
  6. True. It's a shame the show never got a chance - I believe the show only lasted a month if that.
  7. I think you're talking about Dennis Parker, who played Derek Mallory on EON (a fellow P&G soap).
  8. Agreed. He also seemed to be the only Frank who was the right age. Not knocking the later Franks, but they all came across as too young. Mr. Robinson's take on the role obviously won over the Academy as he was the only Frank to get an Emmy nomination (in 1978).
  9. I love the Penny/Sally Draper comparison - especially after a friend of mine said that Gerald Gordon circa 1968 looks like he just came from Mad Men!! One of my favorite shows of all-time is Bewitched - and there are aspects of Althea and Nick which remind me of Samantha and Darrin Stephens, too.
  10. I still can't find a list for the episodes that will be on the upcoming UH season. I've said it before, but TV One's website is a nightmare. Good luck trying to find anything out there!!
  11. Maybe. Also, do you think Larry Hagman would have been able to break through the "JR" typecast to make his judge character memorable?
  12. In every role I've seen him in, Andrew Robinson always gives off a working-class vibe - even when his characters are not so nice. According to a book I read about Dukes of Hazzard, Mr. Robinson was a guest star and in rehearsal was running lines with Sorrell Booke (Boss Hogg). In real life, both men were fluent in Japanese and spoke their lines in Japanese in the rehearsal to throw off James Best (Rosco P. Coltrane).
  13. Thanks. I wonder why they didn't wait until fall when they might have had a larger audience going in.
  14. That would be awesome. Maybe some of these subchannels are taking note of Retro TV's success with The Doctors.
  15. I thought it was her friendship with John Bobbitt going public that cost Robyn Griggs her job - I still remember seeing the tabloid headlines about it at the checkout stand.
  16. Also, check out the Dynasty thread as Kathy Beller took part in the latest cast reunion. There's a big cast photo posted there.
  17. Thank you, Gray Bunny, for filling me in. It definitely sounds awkward!!
  18. Those are great! Thanks!
  19. Those old promos are great. The great days of yore when primetime wasn't polluted with reality/"talent" crap...
  20. How was the reunion show? Unfortunately, my cable provider doesn't carry the Hallmark Channel so I didn't get to see it.
  21. I remember Orleans. Didn't it air in 1996 or so?
  22. I'm kind of surprised they got away with using that name seeing as that George Jones was and is huge in the country music world.
  23. Don Scardino was nominated for the Younger Actor Emmy in 1986 for the role of AW's Chris but lost out to Michael E. Knight of AMC.
  24. Thanks for the news, jam!!!
