EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I wonder if Carol's caner will come back and she'll die. Obviously, Bianca wouldn't come back though.

Janet Jackson Appreciation Thread
I don't think this is the right choice for a comeback single, but it's not that bad and maybe she doesn't care. She's almost 50, so it's not likely she'll have a mainstream hit at this point. I was hoping for a faster dance track to remind us of what she used to do best. The boring ballads of her later years helped lead to her commercial downfall, IMO. The ballads on All For You, Damita, Jo, and 20YO were tortuous. I really hope this new album and tour is a return to form for her, I think this is her last chance for a real comeback.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
They were great together this last time around, especially since French and Brooks never worked together in the past - they just clicked and the characters are very much two lost souls with a lot in common. Not now, but maybe in a few years, Janine needs to have a return similar to the one Sharon had in 2001 where she's revealed as the new owner of the Vic and evicts the Cartner's. Maybe she can return with a husband and a son, and of course an older Scarlett. I keep debating if I want Scarlett to be the total opposite of Janine and more of a heroine, or a rotten kid who is always causing trouble for Janine (sort of like payback for Janine for her own misdeeds). I really think Janine's extension is the future of the show. This is one if they have the writing behind them though...

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Carol's past exits weren't particular happy exits, and I wouldn't be surprised if this one was the same. Or maybe they just won't care and will give her something rushed this time. I doubt we'll ever see her again to be honest. I think it was Patsy Palmer (who I hope never returns as Bianca was a disaster by the end and Patsy was never committed to the show at all) who helped convince her to come back this time around, and unless she really needs the money sometime in the future, I think this is it for Carol in Walford.

What Are You Listening To?
- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I'm glad she came back for as long as she did since she was adamant about never returning to the show when she left the last time in 1999. The fact she stayed on this long was a treat.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I'm already sort of over it before its really begun.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Yes, when I discovered the Time Life Coronation Street collection series, I was surprised Raquel had one dedicated to just her. Outside of Des and the McDonald's, most of the characters that had a collections were characters that had been on the show for a very long time or ones that were hugely iconic. There's a great bubbly innocence to the character that makes you want to root for her. She was naive at times, but it never really seemed that annoying. I also really liked her friendship with Bet, and how protective Bet was of her. The relationship with Curly was good for a time too.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I wonder if the audience took Raquel as their sweetheart immediately or if it took some time. She seemed like one of those characters that was embraced and loved from the beginning very strongly by the general audience. She's also probably Corrie's most successful female introduction of the 90's, if we're being honest here. Didn't Tanya seduce and run off with one of Bet's men after Bet fired her at The Rovers? Was that her exit storyline?- What Are You Listening To?

I don't know what reason she would have to come back without Grant. Walford is not her home, and her recent memories of it are from a decade ago when she was a kid. The Mitchell's are also a very fragmented and weak familial unit, and her ties to the ones on the show are very loose. She could very well show up, but I don't see it happening any time soon or the show knowing how to properly utilize the character.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I don't think we'll ever see Courtney without Grant. She barely knows Phil or any of the Mitchell's on the show. Though, I do wonder if she would know her uncle Phil is married to the love of her father's life...- Degrassi: The Next Generation
To be honest, none of their other shows ever grabbed me the same way Degrassi did.Maybe because I was never in the right demo, but still... Radio Free Roscoe was boring as f.uck, South Of Nowhere also looked boring, and Instant Star was an abomination.- Degrassi: The Next Generation
Isn't Degrassi like their last piece of original content, and their highest rated show? The network was so much better and more mature when it was called The N. Now it's just a wasteland for various Nickelodeon sitcoms that have long since gone off the air.- Degrassi: The Next Generation
Per Stephen Stohn on Twitter, the old episodes of TNG won't be on Netflix yet, that deal is still being worked out and they don't want to confuse a potential new audience with having the new and old episodes available at the same time. It's probably more like they don't want a potential new audience to see how much more superior the early seasons were...- Degrassi: The Next Generation
I think Degrassi is primarily funded by the Canadian government for "educational and social purposes" - whatever the hell that means. This typically means they're immune from a lot of outside interference, and I believe DXH Media, the company that produces the show, also owns the Family Channel.- Degrassi: The Next Generation
I really wish they'd do a proper reunion with the most of the original/best TNG cast, even if it's not a real reunion and they're back at Degrassi for some stupid ceremony celebrating the school or something... Hopefully, they'll be able to rejuvenate show a little with its new move, and hopefully they won't be switching networks every year in Canada again... Speaking of the old cast, I heard that Spinner appeared in the current season for a few minutes of one episode, and there's a clip of Miriam McDonald visiting the set and surprising Stefan Brogren from earlier this season as well. 2:10 in:- Degrassi: The Next Generation
I didn't know Sean come back for one episode in season 7, I think this was the season I stopped watching consistently and never really followed it closely again. I was never in the right demo for the show, as I started watching when I was a freshman in college. I think I just stumbled upon a random episode on The N. What I liked most was the thoughtful and sensitive writing on the show in those early seasons. The show knew how to pack an emotional punch that really hit you in the gut when it was at its best.- Degrassi: The Next Generation
They seemed to really struggle writing for Ellie by her last few seasons on the show. Never in a million years did I think she would ever go for someone like Craig. It was strange that she and Sean never really interacted when he returned in season 6. They seemed really intent on pushing Sean/Emma hard from then on until Daniel Clark decided to leave for good again by the end of that season.- Degrassi: The Next Generation
I always thought it was so strange Emma ended up with Spinner of all people. I did stan pretty hard for Emma and Sean for a while, I'm not gonna lie...- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I wonder if the show just didn't think these characters were important enough. But the late 90's/early 00's were such a strange time for the show, almost an identity crisis in some respects (but nothing like what's going on these days clearly).- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
No, and like with Phyllis, apparently the actress died not long after she stopped appearing. When Maureen returned briefly in 2006 she also didn't mention anything about Maud.- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
The actress was in poor health towards the end of her stint and died. They just stopped mentioning the character after that apparently. - EastEnders: Discussion Thread
