  1. I'm already sort of over it before its really begun.
  2. Yes, when I discovered the Time Life Coronation Street collection series, I was surprised Raquel had one dedicated to just her. Outside of Des and the McDonald's, most of the characters that had a collections were characters that had been on the show for a very long time or ones that were hugely iconic. There's a great bubbly innocence to the character that makes you want to root for her. She was naive at times, but it never really seemed that annoying. I also really liked her friendship with Bet, and how protective Bet was of her. The relationship with Curly was good for a time too.
  3. I wonder if the audience took Raquel as their sweetheart immediately or if it took some time. She seemed like one of those characters that was embraced and loved from the beginning very strongly by the general audience. She's also probably Corrie's most successful female introduction of the 90's, if we're being honest here. Didn't Tanya seduce and run off with one of Bet's men after Bet fired her at The Rovers? Was that her exit storyline?
  4. I don't know what reason she would have to come back without Grant. Walford is not her home, and her recent memories of it are from a decade ago when she was a kid. The Mitchell's are also a very fragmented and weak familial unit, and her ties to the ones on the show are very loose. She could very well show up, but I don't see it happening any time soon or the show knowing how to properly utilize the character.
  5. I don't think we'll ever see Courtney without Grant. She barely knows Phil or any of the Mitchell's on the show. Though, I do wonder if she would know her uncle Phil is married to the love of her father's life...
  6. To be honest, none of their other shows ever grabbed me the same way Degrassi did.Maybe because I was never in the right demo, but still... Radio Free Roscoe was boring as f.uck, South Of Nowhere also looked boring, and Instant Star was an abomination.
  7. Isn't Degrassi like their last piece of original content, and their highest rated show? The network was so much better and more mature when it was called The N. Now it's just a wasteland for various Nickelodeon sitcoms that have long since gone off the air.
  8. Per Stephen Stohn on Twitter, the old episodes of TNG won't be on Netflix yet, that deal is still being worked out and they don't want to confuse a potential new audience with having the new and old episodes available at the same time. It's probably more like they don't want a potential new audience to see how much more superior the early seasons were...
  9. I think Degrassi is primarily funded by the Canadian government for "educational and social purposes" - whatever the hell that means. This typically means they're immune from a lot of outside interference, and I believe DXH Media, the company that produces the show, also owns the Family Channel.
  10. I really wish they'd do a proper reunion with the most of the original/best TNG cast, even if it's not a real reunion and they're back at Degrassi for some stupid ceremony celebrating the school or something... Hopefully, they'll be able to rejuvenate show a little with its new move, and hopefully they won't be switching networks every year in Canada again... Speaking of the old cast, I heard that Spinner appeared in the current season for a few minutes of one episode, and there's a clip of Miriam McDonald visiting the set and surprising Stefan Brogren from earlier this season as well. 2:10 in:
  11. I didn't know Sean come back for one episode in season 7, I think this was the season I stopped watching consistently and never really followed it closely again. I was never in the right demo for the show, as I started watching when I was a freshman in college. I think I just stumbled upon a random episode on The N. What I liked most was the thoughtful and sensitive writing on the show in those early seasons. The show knew how to pack an emotional punch that really hit you in the gut when it was at its best.
  12. They seemed to really struggle writing for Ellie by her last few seasons on the show. Never in a million years did I think she would ever go for someone like Craig. It was strange that she and Sean never really interacted when he returned in season 6. They seemed really intent on pushing Sean/Emma hard from then on until Daniel Clark decided to leave for good again by the end of that season.
  13. I always thought it was so strange Emma ended up with Spinner of all people. I did stan pretty hard for Emma and Sean for a while, I'm not gonna lie...
  14. I wonder if the show just didn't think these characters were important enough. But the late 90's/early 00's were such a strange time for the show, almost an identity crisis in some respects (but nothing like what's going on these days clearly).
  15. No, and like with Phyllis, apparently the actress died not long after she stopped appearing. When Maureen returned briefly in 2006 she also didn't mention anything about Maud.
  16. The actress was in poor health towards the end of her stint and died. They just stopped mentioning the character after that apparently.
  17. I think it had a profound impact on Emmerdale, but I wouldn't say it had an impact on how the other British soaps told stories. I think Corrie and EastEnders stayed true to their roots for most of the 90's, and I don't think either had stunts of this magnitude during that time period. But with the plane crash, Emmerdale was able to carve out a unique identity and it would utilize that "disaster" format many times in the years to come.
  18. Almost a decade on the show, and I don't think Denise has ever really had an big signature storyline of her own. Even the Lucas stuff I wouldn't say was entirely her's or her moment to shine. It's really sad, and I assume job security is the only reason Diane hasn't left. I don't think she'll ever get something that will push her to the forefront at this point, unless a new producer comes in and really takes a liking to the character (which obviously hasn't happened up to this point).
  19. I hope Tiana has been taking acting lessons as well if she ever comes back, she was just as green as Matt was. They never did anything substantial with her though, this is one of the only moments that automatically comes to mind when I think of her: God, 2006-2007 had some awful ass moments. I think DTC, like most of the past producers, has very little interest in the Foxes though. He wouldn't possibly invest in anyone without the last name Carter.
  20. Other than DTC's obvious hard-on for Matt Di Angelo, I really can't justify why Dean's rapist ass is still on this show. Not only do they appear to be whitewashing his crime, but Di Angelo is also one of the very worst actors in all of soaps. Pretty to look at yes, but you get over that, just totally unwatchable.
  21. He should quit and just do musical theatre - because he can't act otherwise.
  22. I think Ryder also did some sort of tabloid interview after he left as well, which pissed off John Yorke (though Yorke had already left by the time Jamie was killed off) as well. I think it was the interview where he said, "If you're not a Slater, then see you later!" I can see why Ryder and Kym Marsh were an item for a while...
  23. This Leanne and Simon story is going to play out like bad camp, just you watch. Time for Leanne to send this little sh!t to live with Ken or Peter when he comes back for Deidre's funeral...
