This thread sums up so much of the corruption that the media isn't talking about because of the shooting. There is a lot of good stuff happening.

I hear you. I hope real changes comes from this HW scandal, but because of the power dynamics it may not work out that way. It's infuriating.

The right wing media has done a great job of making her the ultimate boogyman. I don't think I've ever seen someone so thoroughly demonized. It's insane. I even fell for it in a low level way. I never hated her, but I was starting to resent her for doing things that every candidate does. This was at the beginning of primary season. Luckily, I came to my senses and saw through it. Meanwhile, she is the perfect deflection for Trump. No matter what he does some believe Hillary would have been worse. As if anything a private citizen has done justifies what the actual president has done. Also notice that no matter how many lies Trump has told people bring up that one time Obama lied about the ACA. As if that one lie (and he did, I won't deny it) justifies the hundreds of bald face lies Trump tells.

His Dad didn't know until several years later. He confirmed that his son told him the story, but he has no idea at the time . As a father, RD must feel just awful. KS really thought he could get away with anything and he was not far wrong. What a complete bastard.

We saw a preview of these reactions when Michael Muhney was fired from Y&R. Some people are so deluded they'll stand by these actors no matter what they do and try to shift blame to the victims. It's disgusting. It's horrifying to me how often even ordinary families seem to rally around the perpetrator. They are defended with silence at the very least. Not that I have anything to tell you how awful it is for victims after what you've been through.

I've more or less unfriended them all, even in real life. Unfortunately, my husband has not done the same. I'm breaking bread with a Republican for the first time in about 6 months tomorrow. Let's just say I'll be hitting the mimosas hard because this guy is a real tool, although not a Trumper. We saw just the other day why communicating via twitter is so dangerous. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there aren't going to be a lot of people defending DB. Did she do this just to promote her book? I truly do not get why she would revisit this topic now. But that would mean people like the Kennedys/Clintons/Obamas would have to keep their nose out of it too. I'd rather have people who want to gut public education out of power. I'll admit my strongest bias is against the ultra wealthy, but some of them are a force for good in certain areas.

The government was going to go for a stay. This is really infuriating to me. Your comment the other day about Trump bringing back the 30's cracked me up too, in a dark humor kind of way. In these dark days I appreciate your low key humor. The one thing I like about the Republican tax plan is the cap on the mortgage tax deduction. The mortgage deduction is a regressive part of the tax code and should only exist if there is a concession to people who can't afford to own, imo.

Good. I'll admit I've always liked him, but I'll never support anyone who commits sexual assault/harassment. All of these people need to be shunned as far as I'm concerned. Beyond that the majority will get away with it as so many before them have done.
