  1. It's insane. There are so many terrible things happening right now and people are still going on about this. Hell, the fact that these players leave the game with serious brain damage almost down to a man is no problem. Taking a knee is the problem. It's infuriating. Rand Paul may be my new (temporary) hero. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/10/white-house-leans-on-rand-paul-to-back-tax-plan-243601
  2. It's terrifying. What Vee just posted is unthinkable. Everyone in Congress knows we are being led by a madman but they won't act.
  3. Anything could happen, but my point is a lot of people are in denial while pretending they aren't. I'm talking about people in the media.
  4. ^ Right. I mean few people seem to think North Korea will launch a bomb that will hit where they are. I see a lot of reporters/bloggers on twitter joking about it, but if they believed it they'd be reporting/blogging from Europe.
  5. Yes. None of us really believe he's going to get us in a nuclear war, if we did we'd be getting out of Dodge no matter the cost. I only have these moments of believing it. Then my mind pushes it down again. Some reporter from the NYT was doing the media rounds today. He's been in North Korea recently and he was saying he thinks the threat is real. That's why it's feeling more real to me today I guess.
  6. Here's hoping we get that far. I seriously wonder if organized human society can survive WW3.
  7. Some things would be moving forward if the Republicans weren't so tribal. Thank god they can't agree on things like healthcare. Also, it's not like the president is simply neutral or a non factor. He's actively disrupting Washington by failing to make a ton of appointments. https://www.timesofisrael.com/denmark-to-join-european-nations-in-outlawing-burqas-niqabs/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter This seems sad to me. What will these women do just stay inside all the time?
  8. And still is right? I believe I've read something about the Republicans keeping that way on purpose, but I can't swear to it.
  9. I can't even pretend to be surprised. These guys are hypocrites almost down to a man. How many times have gay bashing congressmen been caught having sex with a man? How many times have "family values" congressmen been caught having an affair or worse yet leaving a wife with cancer? Even John McCain is said by some to have left his first wife because she was disfigured in a car accident. He cheated on her first of course. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1024927/The-wife-John-McCain-callously-left-behind.html
  10. Why do mass shootings always bring out the anti choice loons? Someday I'll learn not to debate with the nutjobs on the internet.
  11. Yep. He thinks he gets to choose, but doesn't want to let women and teens decide for themselves.
  12. I hear you Khan. I just figure that in addition to that there is an ulterior motive. When the Saudi Arabia is a part of the equation I always suspect something more is afoot. It's disgusting the way we are supporting their destruction of Yemen.
  13. Disgusting although I was more surprised that Japan voted against it. I guess I always thought of them as being more civilized than we are. I wonder why we voted this way? In support of Saudi Arabia? I wish the article more analysis.
  14. Yes please. Meanwhile I find this even more horrifying. An executive order to review low income assistance programs. It's a precursor to "sweeping welfare reform". I'm an atheist since about the age of 13, but I'm thinking of taking up prayer again. These people will stop at nothing to take from the poor. Jesus take the wheel. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/02/trump-white-house-welfare-low-income-executive-order-243376 P.S. Also, thank you Jesus for ambien.
  15. Disgusting. Some good news. The ACLU fighting back against voter suppression. http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/10/aclu-launches-nationwide-voting-rights-campaign-in-the-backyard-of-its-biggest-nemesis/
  16. Overall, I agree with you, but I think people can't help comparing Bush and Trump and noting that Trump is actively working against the victims. So while maybe Bush caring didn't help much, Trump having not one single f*ck to give is hurting. To actually attack the mayor and say "they want everything done for them". Nothing should be surprising at this point, but I'm still having a hard time wrapping my head around it. None of that makes Bush or his response to Katrina excusable, but anyone who thought it couldn't get worse than that is being schooled by Trump as we speak.
  17. ^ I wish to god Canada or Germany (or anyone) had sent aid boats to Puerto Rico right after the storm just to make it even clearer what an incompetent liar we have in office. Seeing their mayor do that interview with a shirt that Read "help us we are dying" should make us all ashamed on some level.
  18. That's the truth. I do believe things will be better someday, but a lot of people are going to pay the price over the next four years (minimum). It's horrific to see all the areas that Trump and his ilk are doing the worst thing possible. I saw that someone leaked Trump had no plan at all to help Puerto Rico until he saw public sentiment was building against him.
  19. I know this will make the trolls happy, but last night I really thought I was going to have a breakdown when I read that story about Flint. It's one thing when people are suffering and there is hope of help. Right now the Rohingya, Puerto Rico, refugees, and Flint. All of these people are screwed with little hope and it is not going to get better. Not any time soon.
  20. I'd say she's a good actress. I'm not sure the best actress on the planet could make Debbie likable past season 1.
  21. More awful news. Fetal deaths caused by the water in Flint. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/09/21/flints-lead-poisoned-water-had-a-horrifyingly-large-effect-on-fetal-deaths-study-finds/?tid=sm_tw&utm_term=.6cc073a5e23a
  22. ^ Trump and Stern were a match made in hell for sure. I know Stern is not sincere in what he says. I feel that way about half of conservative radio, but the fact that he's a smart guy and just faking the a-hole routine makes him all the more despicable to me. Back when I was dating Stern was a great litmus test. Women on the dating scene right now are even luckier. There's no better litmus test than 45.
  23. Maybe you're right. Hard for me to say, it seemed to be Stern was trying to get Trump to agree that the other's wanted to "bump her off". Just like he kept trying to get Trump to say Ivanka is a "piece of ass" and eventual succeeded. Either way, it's definitely bad behavior, if it's true. I also wouldn't be surprised if they didn't want her to inherit. There seems to be some distance between Tiffany and the rest of the family. I'm sure this will all make for some tell all books in the years to come. On a total side note when Howard Stern is not the sleaziest man in a conversation, it's truly a sad gathering.
  24. I'm not sure I believe this and I give Ivanka no quarter. I read the transcript and doesn't it sound like Stern was asking Trump if Ivanka and DJ wanted to kill her? That's what I took from it. I can believe they weren't thrilled over having to share. Similar went down in my mother's family over chump change (seriously) and this is (supposedly) billions. Nevertheless, I don't believe they wanted to "bump her off". I'm too cynical to give these folks and credit. There has to be an angle, even if it's just keeping their players happy or fearing that they could piss off both sides and lose money. Whatever it is, I doubt it's about dong the right thing. I didn't see this before I posted. This is as good an explanation as any.
