  1. That boy is lucky he married well. He doesn't seem all that bright. @DRW50At least Biden and crew on to the propaganda. Lovely to know there are plenty of Americans helping the Russians and Chinese spread it. 😡 if only the world had made Russia pay for using chemical weapons in Syria we might not be facing this horror again.
  2. Monstrous. Nothing is sacred to Putin.
  3. @DRW50These anti LBGTQ bills coming out in Florida are surreal. These people are determined to take us back 100 years in time.
  4. The UN is such a corrupt and useless organization. It's sad it's come to this.
  5. So much for being able to laugh these convoy folks off. Thousands of people at what is basically a white nationalist recruiting event 🙄
  6. Rick Schroder is a clueless idiot. These people are delusional. Spend a day in Moscow getting your messages checked by the police Ricky! Then tell us how oppressed you are. This info about the refugee ceiling in The States is interesting. If you look at the graph a quarter way down the page you can see we haven't been coming anywhere close to meeting the allotted numbers. I know it's Trump's fault for gutting the system, but those of us who care need to pressure our officials to get these programs back up and running properly. Asylum in the United States - Wikipedia Good thread by Kasparov:
  7. I do think people care, but just like in Syria, we can't do much on the individual level. On top of that our country hasn't been refugee friendly since Trump took over. I think we are track to take something like 20,000 this year. I hope that can change, but it may be up to other nations again to take the burden. Meanwhile, even in my red state individuals come out to help when refugees actually make it here. The government is the roadblock, not the people, imo.
  8. I could not agree more. @KhanWe've been at war for 25 years. Ones that were unrighteous, imo. Meanwhile this would be a completely righteous war, but the outcome is too unpredictable. All these people who want to go in are the people least able to deal with consequences. Armchair warriors, who don't know what it is to go without long term. I wish everyone blithely cheering on war could spend one week living on rations with spotty electricity and no Netflix. Talk to me then twitter warriors.
  9. Which one is Syd? I only restarted watching GH a month ago? ** Nevermind. I see now it's Trina.
  10. I'm seeing conflicting things, but it does sound like a meltdown is unlikely. Thank god.
  11. If this is actually true, maybe it's time for the EU to send in their troops. I certainly hope it is not.
  12. ^ That first clip was funny and surprisingly honest. Shelling a nuclear power plant seems unwise, but what do I know?
  13. Good news from Canada. Looks like there are going to accept unlimited numbers of refugees for temporary residence. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-unlimited-number-ukrainians-1.6371288
  14. That makes a lot of sense. As to the second part, I urge anyone with mental health struggles not to watch the video. It is not normal to be a spectator of war. Helplessness in the face of atrocity is a recipe for depression. Keeping up with what's going on is one thing, watching people murdered with your own eyes is another.
  15. I hope he survives too, but it seems unlikely. Let's just hope that Europe and the States can get enough aid there in time to really help. Why we didn't do it sooner I don't know. For people who want to help I would look to donating to some of the refugee charities that are already on the ground. Maybe pressure our leaders to increase the number of refuges let in by a couple hundred thousand. That could help a lot of war torn people around the globe..
  16. Nukes are like climate change, The very real threat is always there, but it fades in and out of the front of our minds depending on whatever other threats we are facing in the moment. Like when Trump was president, it's disturbing to think that it only takes one mad man to completely destroy life as we know it. Like others I hope there is someway out of this mess for Ukraine and innocent Russians. The only way I can see is buying Putin off somehow, but it's beyond my pay grade to know what he wants. It's disgusting that we have to find a way to appease this man, but with nukes on the table, what other choice is there?
  17. I would rather go back to living in poverty (no insurance, food and housing insecurity) and take my children with me than be ruled by Trump or anyone of his kind. There is always a way to make it work. That seems like a no brainier to me. All these people going on about freedom, but willing to give up just for economic reasons. So foolish, imo,

She was definitely wrong. I wonder how it happened though. Did her people not brief her on the days topic? So much of what was happening in Germany involved the concept of "the master race", which wasn't about being white but being Aryan. I'm just surprised that something in her mind didn't click on that during the discussion because it's so basic. I feel like I've known they were trying to build a race of tall blondes with blue eyes since I was 10. Not to mention how everyone knew it was a big F*ck You to Hitler when Jesse Owens won gold in Berlin. It must be hard to have these kind of conversations off the cuff though. I can only imagine the mistakes I would make if I had to talk about controversial subjects everyday in a back and forth format. Still when you have an audience you have to be on top of things or consequences follow.
  19. ^ Hopefully the FBI can track down whoever is doing this sooner than later.

This seemed like an innocent mistake to me. There are lots of people who see the holocaust through an American lens without meaning harm. It doesn't make sense to them that it can be about race if both groups look white. She also apologized, so I wish people would give her a break. Why draw blood from people who aren't actively malicious if they are willing to learn?
  21. I would rather have other nations hate us than live through The Great Depression. Hell, 2008 was a little too close for comfort, but that's just me. Biden really has been given a bad hand though. The pandemic, economy and obstruction are all ugly right now. For some reason gas prices have always been a big issue for voters. I don't quite understand why given that prices are so much higher in other countries. I think so too, but this time I'm hopeful enough to think he won't be around to run. I can't imagine living through that nightmare again.
  22. Yes and really things are worse than ever it seems. People are out of control. All the violence against people just trying to do their jobs is just nuts.
