  1. What kills me as that these kids did not need to go at all. They are already rich as hell. It's one thing if they are scholars and interested in school, in which case they wouldn't need to cheat. Olivia Jade did not want to go. Her mother forced it and basically ruined her gig. It's crazy!
  2. Good point. In the end it's always surprising when they do any time at all. I still can't believe they put Martha Stewart in. I thought she would skate for sure. I suppose in their favor is that they aren't very likely to commit another crime.
  3. ^ Damn. Aunt Becky in prison for two years? I feel pretty neutral about that. I don't root for non violent criminals to get jail time very often, but what she did was so gratuitous. There was no good reason for it. I even found myself feeling sorry for Olivia Jade, the kind of kid I would have avoided like the plague when I was her age. All that child wanted to do was post her feckless youtube crap and rake in the dough for being pretty and almost famous. Then her mother decided that wasn't good enough and ruined it for her. I stand corrected. Looks like it's 4 years: This means if Lori and her husband now want to plea bargain their cases, instead of a minimum range of 2 to 2 and a half years in prison ... prosecutors would recommend to the judge a MINIMUM RANGE OF 4 YEARS AND 9 MONTHS UP TO 5 YEARS AND 11 MONTHS. There's also a very technical rub. Theoretically by charging CONSPIRACY to money launder, the minimum sentence could go even higher -- way higher. Short story ... prosecutors are out for blood.
  4. She's my first choice. Notice people are attacking her for being both too lenient on crime and too harsh. CNN just did a piece basically calling her out for not seeking the death penalty on a police officers murder. Also for not being compassionate to the family. It rubbed me the wrong way, although I understand the family felt they deserved more consideration. Yes. I don't know that much about Ganz. I figure he must be better than BN. At the same time I read a thread the other day talking about how Netanyahu is actually pretty hesitant to go to war. There have been several situations where he could have justified it and people were even demanding it, but he went with a ceasefire after blowing up a few empty buildings. I get that he's a bad guy, but there is something to be said for avoiding bloodshed. Hopefully Ganz is the same in that way, but better in others.
  5. Maybe some good news? Sounds like it won't be definite until tomorrow.
  6. That was my first thought too. I'll admit not because of history, but because of right now. Hopefully the FBI is on the case and whoever is doing this will pay. I've realized that while I'm theoretically behind prison reform there are a lot of people who need to see the inside of a prison cell. We need to get everyone out who is in for petty drug offenses and then lock up these violent people for a good long time.
  7. He almost certainly was, but that doesn't mean they have the evidence to charge him. By complicit, I mean he probably knew about it and didn't turn her in. It wouldn't be that surprising if he disagreed with the plan, but just went along. If they could charge him they would. It seems pretty clear they are trying to make an example of these folks, which I'm in favor of TBH.
  8. I'm not sure what to think. Is this something that will hamstring his policies? If so, good. Or is it a power vacuum that will make it easier for him to appoint "acting" lackeys who will do whatever they are told? That would be not so good. Which I find highly suspicious. One of my friends thinks it's because he's very wealthy and that would hurt his credibility as a democratic socialist. I say B*ll$hit. The Kennedy's were very wealthy and they might not have been DS, but they always had credibility as being pro-worker. Why wouldn't Bernie give up those tax returns as a way of distinguishing himself from Trump unless he had something to hide? Anyway, I feel like I would get all of Bernie's positive ideas from Warren without all that drama and discord that comes with Bernie. Would I vote for him if he's the nominee, yes because I don't believe he gets off on hurting people like Trump does.
  9. He's 77 years old, so I'll have to disagree with you there. 😉 More seriously his hard core supporters were so hateful last time, I'm completely against them getting their way this time. I saw so many people rooting for Trump so the country would suffer and turn hard left. No thanks!
  10. Beto talking about Netanyahu. It took me a couple of seconds to realize he wasn't talking about the Republicans. "That relationship, if it is to be successful, must transcend partisanship in the United States, and it must be able to transcend a prime minister who is racist, as he warns about Arabs coming to the polls, who wants to defy any prospect for peace as he threatens to annex the West Bank, and who has sided with a far-right, racist party in order to maintain his hold on power," O'Rourke said.
  11. What incident is he talking about? As for Kirstjen Nielsen, another one bites the dust, I guess. She should be ashamed for the rest of her life that she went along with Trump's crimes against children.
  12. I know James Wood is a nut, but good lord. I didn't know he was this far gone.
  13. And with his history of grabbing women no less! He's a shameless charlatan and he gets away with it to a degree that just does not make sense. If Biden is the nominee you just know Trump is going to call Him Creepy Uncle Joe at every turn.
  14. I'm sorry to hear that. I know what you mean about disengaging. I remember swearing I would hide in fiction after the election, but I just can't do it. So many people I know are depressed or anxious right now (i'm not saying you DD). I suspect what is happening in the country makes people more vulnerable overall, well except for the people enjoying it. I can't even give blood right now. They keep telling me my heart rate is too high, so I'm off to the doctor in a couple of weeks to see about anxiety meds. Not that I blame Trump for that of course. I just think the mood of the country is making those of us already vulnerable worse in some cases.
  15. Yeah, I think most of us here were so horrified by Trump's election because we knew this would happen. I'll admit that it's worse than I thought it would be though. The way people on our boarder are being treated is going to be a shame that follows us just like the internment of the Japanese. If someone had told me that could happen in modern America I would not have believed them even four years ago. The rise of antisemitism is of course disturbing, especially when it's happening in places like France. People just do not learn.
  16. I'm actually surprised those numbers aren't worse. I guess I just don't expect even 2/3 of people to be decent at this point.
  17. I can't believe people were actually wearing Aunt Becky masks. Fame really warps both fans and stars sometimes.
  18. 🙄 You have got to be kidding me. People are so stupid sometimes (and I don't mean Lori). I'm not a fan of either of these ladies, but I'm not wishing them a long jail sentence. I do think they could stand to do a small amount of time (6 months) in club fed to remind them that they are not above the law.
  19. I wonder if donors are waiting for Biden or just waiting to see who has the momentum in a few months? Good enough for me, I guess. We'll see how it shakes out.
  20. This is why I actually did think the whole thing could be an April Fool's joke. Not because I give a single frack who is playing Phyllis. I just thought they might prank us because it just isn't that important and I don't expect any kind of professionalism in the soap world. I'm not at all surprised that they dumped GT though. We've seen soaps do this so many times over the years. To the people in charge it's just business and they are ruthless. Look at the actors who have found out they were fired via the internet or the "Real" Greenlee ad campaign.
  21. He did do that! If that truth is offensive I'm missing it. Look how he treated these folks, with throwing them paper towels. When you disrespect people on that level, you have given your opponent those votes to lose. Of course, that isn't always true given how Trump has treated women and yet he got way too many of our votes.
  22. What stunned me is when people said JS damaged race relations. I'm not the self hating white person type, but what? In the age of Trump, how is that reality? The millions of white people who voted for Trump damaged race relations for a generation. JS is barely a blip on that radar screen. Sure, he gives the nutty racists at Fox something to point at, but they always find something, even if they have to manufacture it. Making an organized effort to recruit voters and listening to their concerns is not treating them like chattel or telling them how to vote. It's politics 101. When you ignore people and their concerns they look to the candidates who at least pretend they matter. That's a lesson Democrats should have learned, but it sounds like some in Florida didn't. If it's true, I don't care who sounds the call or where they do it, as long as someone listens and fixes it before 2020.
  23. So frustrating. Normally I wouldn't quote this guy, but really, is he wrong?
  24. He could easily be a high functioning psychopath. Hell, it's probably a requirement of the job.
