If it’s any consolation, I doubt the vibe is like this anymore. I don’t get into NYC much anymore but the last time I went, things seemed kind of stodgy. Things have gotten so expensive that creative folks left at least a decade ago and left in its wake are trustafarians and techies.

You just haven’t lived until you’ve been in any public space in NYC and someone plays the theme song from FAME! The way that people will immediately start leaping, twirling and carrying on, to experience it was pure joy! Thank you, Ms. Cara.❤️ This is an interesting tidbit.

It was also weird but unsurprising that all those corporations dug into developing a professional relationship with him after those comments, even though they eventually jumped ship after the antisemitic comments. The Very Online is an apt term, even diplomatic term to describe them. People who are always trying to provoke. I won’t mention the name that I give these people, lest I get a warning.👀

Twitter has embarked upon their own silly season since Musk took over. I wonder how much more of this will legitimate organizations take of Musk’s experimental tinkering?

My sole reason for even venturing onto Twitter: to use the search engine from the explore page (accessible without an account or login) so I can read the gift articles posted there by random accounts. This article seems worth a read.

I am also now thinking about those companies and corporations that not only decided to continue to work with him after he said slavery was a choice, but some of those companies intensified their involvement with him after he made those remarks.

Why do we still check for Kanye? When he said that slavery was a choice and that Harriet Tubman didn’t free any slaves, I was done with him from then. Obviously others didn’t find that statement offensive and kept checking for him, but why?

To this day, I have never seen those episodes and will be forever thankful that I haven’t.

Maternal figures is the word that I would use to describe those characters as well. For some reason, I don’t think that Y&R had much of a desire to create a dyed in the wool matriarch, in the mold of most soap matriarchs.

Has Y&R ever really had a matriarch in the way that daytime soaps were known for having a matriarch though? I struggle to think of one. Y&R had Liz Foster and Mary Williams, I guess but they never seemed to be the drivers of story, at least not at the time I got to watch and honestly, most of Liz Foster’s time was way before I started watching.

Wait, boarding school? The last time the twins were onscreen, that I remember, they looked college-bound! I am not opposed to De-SORASing characters, especially when their childhood and adolescence was rushed to begin with but man, these soaps need to be consistent! Remember, back in the day, when soaps wouldn’t just tell us, they’d show us? And soaps were so much better for it. They know they made a mistake. They made a mistake saddling Lily with twins, they made a mistake with Reed and they made a mistake with Mackenzie. That whole generation was messed up with directionless writing.

Vail Bloom was best in the role. Yes, she made some poor choices in her life offset but if Robert Downey Jr. can not only have a career rebound after he had a much worse trajectory due to drug abuse, surely someone can give Bloom another chance. Speaking as someone who used to be a loyal viewer ages ago, but tbh, no longer watches, I probably shouldn’t be offering an opinion (but of course, I will, lol), the writers shouldn’t just automatically shove Lily and Daniel together, what would the dramatic interest in this? You need some dramatic tension and some twists and turns. Bringing in Bloom and test the situation, so how the characters interact, what their chemistry is. I hate needless triangles that spring from nowhere but it seems like there is a built in one here. Even without Paul on the canvas, Heather knows enough people already on the canvas (Adam, Lauren, Michael, in addition to Daniel and Phyllis)that the character would be viable.

I was never holding my breath for that one. I knew he’d have to be forced in a court. His entire professional life is riddled with lawsuits and court cases. Why would that change? Just because he greased his way into the White House? Nah.
