  1. The diminished ranks of EPA staff presents a quandary for the agency. A new influx of federal dollars but not enough people to implement all the policies that are required to make sure that the government brings the country up to par on climate goals. And time is of the essence, as Congressional and/or leadership changes could put a hitch in plans for cleaner energy and energy efficiency upgrades. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/23/climate/environmental-protection-agency-epa-funding.html?unlocked_article_code=AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACEIPuonUktbfqIhkSVUZACbeWdkipwGLwvXJ3r0mgXn7IS6JQDIH1_4SH4WL50bKY-9qaNY11CXeScdIdbEyQvBzyOAZP1BoT0PghKq4r6k_And_r5OvDCRx1ojRXLs8_HjkYzbmJupylfji503XdWXtWPbAgn12dxI18cFuIAv52iMJxabVA6UijIkFqPQlAZhwQTwCZDDb_KW7TkUjZ6jVK03U-QI0WOtGWDnMntP66rsIcg1aDV2uX2ooqC9nq4saYIVLSf65ex0we8P-g6ETCXhqKuqrBp4wR4vTkdZ6oEGDSSBXUnXeboadJwXK7rU&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
  2. I can’t bring myself to get up or stay up for any of these weekend matches. This the most sleep I’ve ever gotten during an Australian Open tournament.
  3. They can’t even muster the courage to let another Newman besides Victor lead story. I think you’re right that the show tries to create this notion that the Newman’s are still this enviable dynasty, but ironically, the writing over the last decade has shown them to be an utterly chaotic mess! What’s to aspire to?😂 The show thinks it’s still the 1980s and thinks viewers believe this too. The show has had so many opportunities to have that Bernie Madoff type character, remember Ray? I think that was his name. They could have made him that type who fleeced a lot of the wealthy. Keep him separate from Nikki or delay their eventual encounter (or you know, scrap that whole reboot of the cult storyline), meanwhile present him as this self-made financial whiz who puts the con in conman when he gains the confidence of Jill and Victor, who are impressed by someone who they see as coming up from nothing as they once did.
  4. I have read a bit about it but I haven’t seen any documentaries based on this. It is egregious that greed blinds people to the obvious suffering of entire communities of people. Carlson is a greedy pig out for ratings. It sad that anyone in this life would believe a word that he says. He’s bought and paid for.
  5. This would have been a sensible path for the show to take but for whatever reason, tptb are dead set on maintaining that fantasy world that has no connection to reality, even though that is the very aspect that has been costing them viewers for decades. The Lauren Fenmore struggles storyline is a story that I remember quite well because it is probably one of the last storylines that I watched in totality. I remember thinking what a huge disappointment it was, so many missed opportunities. Retail was definitely struggling (still is) and they could have created a situation where Fenmore’s would have to either downsize or shut down all except the flagship store and retool and see Lauren grapple with having to navigate the situation, perhaps creating a strain on her relationships, including her marriage. I would also add that the Newmans should have lost a ton of money (by the hands of either Adam, Nick or Victoria, forcing them to possibly have to liquidate some divisions and some properties and maybe even live under one roof (a la the Forrester family in the early days of B&B) at the ranch estate. Hey, maybe there is a Savings and Loan scandal that wipes out nearly half of the wealth of Genoa City and many of the well heeled citizens have to cope with the loss of net worth. You could see people who didn’t grow up with wealth (Victor, Nikki, Sharon, Devon, Jill, Adam who grew up on a farm) coping much better than those trust fund nepotism babies. It would be a chance to restructure the stories in ways that are sustainable.
  6. You’re welcome @Noel. Unfortunately, with the exception of PBS, most television shows aren’t going to really go in depth with these news topics.
  7. The idea of a radio soap is kind of cool but unless it’s of a much higher standard than what’s currently out there, I am not sure how it would work. Podcast dramas are looking as if they may start to catch on though. It seemed like SSM tried but I found much of her execution of writing the stories to be somewhat dry. Thank goodness for that. That storyline was a mess!
  8. After he and his lawyer were charged $1 million for a previous frivolous lawsuit against Hillary Clinton, James Comey and others, it appears that Trump and his lawyer have withdrawn another frivolous lawsuit against AG Letitia James.
  9. Isn’t this the same dynamic that had Sharon and Adam romantically involved?
  10. I knew some of these former professional players would start playing pickle ball. Watch these pickle ball tournaments start pulling in higher ratings than tennis.🙃
  11. This would have been a time that the likes of VH1 would have done some sort of retrospective on the discography of David Crosby…had they still been interested in actual music in any way. Had A&E still been actively involved in biography shows as they once were, there would be an announcement of an upcoming episode of the life and times of David Crosby, but those days are long gone.
  12. Those lights are regular lights though. No special filters that I can see but I have been wondering for years why no proper air filtration systems have been installed in schools and public buildings. Hospitals seem to be the only public buildings where there is any filtration system in place.
  13. Was Pam there on behalf of ESPN? I heard she has been coaching a WTA player. I agree about ESPN+ being ridiculous, which is why I refuse to subscribe to that service. I don’t think that either ESPN or Tennis Channel with their bogus TTC+ service deserve the rights to stream tennis, they are both flops and do a disservice to the intent to “grow the game”, if tennis even cares about their stated goals to make the sport more accessible anymore. The scheduling of some of these matches is ridiculous and I haven’t made the effort to watch even a fraction of them. Tennis Australia was never perfect, they had some scheduling gaffes in the past but this year has already shown to be questionable. Three roofs and they still have players having to play three days in a row?? I wasn’t going to watch that Murray/Kokkinakis match but I tuned in for part of the 3rd and final sets. In the third set, I honestly thought that if Thanasi didn’t close out the match in straight sets, he would never win it. I was right. I think he’s going to have night terrors about that match for some time to come. The ESPN headquarters is in Bristol, CT and from all accounts, they are a drain on the state’s taxpayers.
  14. Wow, I clicked onto the last portion of this match and the interviewer is slobbering all over Murray, it’s embarrassing. Nothing against Murray, part of me now hopes that RBA runs him ragged in the next round.😂
  15. Haha. https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/61915-mystery-yr-return/?do=findComment&comment=1832950
  16. Except he’s their hometown hope…allegedly.😂
  17. Ha!😜🤑 Vail, girl, I’m not even going to ask for a percentage. Just make sure they do Heather Stevens justice with a juicy storyline!😘
  18. I am just glad that whoever is eavesdropping on our board conversations is listening to the right things. And oh, I can write a good story, so message me, people.😉
  19. Well well well. Are some Y&R folks eavesdropping in on our board conversations? 👀😂 Nevermind. Vail, girl, you make sure they give you a juicy storyline.
  20. Tennis Australia did Kiokkinakis no favors with the scheduling. He has had to play three days in a row, when they could have shifted him on Day 1 to finish the rest of his first round match. And it’s what 3 am local time and he and Murray are still playing? Whoever wins this match will be at a deficit in the next round, as their opponent is fast asleep.
  21. Hopefully it’s something productive and positive. He does have talent and let’s face it, he’s not the type that can be left to his own devices without being occupied with some project. Let’s hope that it’s not some Drake “Her Loss” type of project. 🤣 and I couldn’t resist looking at the replies, some of them clamoring for an OnlyFans.
  22. Yeah, I figured that the poster didn’t pay to use the work of the photographer and/or agency and that they were just coasting off the use that you paid for. It’s a shame that some people choose to ignore the basic tenets of fair use and social media etiquette. That sounds really weird. I don’t know what to say about that. It really sounds like it’s more about what’s going on in the psyche of that particular person.
  23. So far, I have only seen the pilot episode and it’s got some promising elements, including a reasonably likable cast. Yes, many of NBC’s highly successful sitcoms did need a full season or two to find their footing and/or audience. I just wonder whether NBC will be patient enough to allow this show that space as it once did in the 1980s and ‘90s. Network executives have been somewhat impatient in the last decade, and unfortunately, so are viewers sometimes. I was curious to see if anyone had asked Richard Moll and Marsha Warfield on their thoughts on this reboot. I haven’t heard anything expressed, which makes me wonder whether there could be the possibility of a couple cameos down the road. I don’t think people should rush this, especially seeing that there a brand new characters that viewers need to get to know. Hopefully once they are established, there will be room for some appearances from surviving cast from the first series. I would love to see what happened to Quon Le, she and Mac had at least one child together and I am curious to know what happened to them. The writers may not want to deal with all of that but I think it would be a nice nod to the character of Mac and his history, much of which played out on camera. but yeah, I think it may require a little patience for this show to hit its stride. There are hints of that zaniness that the original series had but television, especially network television is risk averse these days and the original series seemed to take plenty of risks, at times it dabbled in the subversive, which made it special.
