  1. It's all part of the process of trying to normalize these people. CNN, NY Times and WAPO have all written puff piece articles to try to somehow get people to see themselves in these white supremacists. Obviously, it's going to flop with some of us, but these media outlets are trying to convince the rest. So Trump has postponed a press conference that should have taken place this week until January? Talk about a paper tiger! If you can, read this entire thread!
  2. Oh, I knew he was screwing with Mitt, who I never thought had a chance for SOS, less than Ghouliani and Christie even. There was a moment when Trump might have given it the slightest thought because someone (anonymous source) claimed that Trump thought the Romney "looked the part" of a SOS and described Romney as looking like someone "straight out of Central Casting" and we all know how important looks are to Trump, judging from his 3 beauty queen wives. Trump is a vain man and did not want to take the chance that anyone would outshine him.
  3. I think more electors will probably have to sign onto this.
  4. Electors demand intelligence briefing before Electoral College vote
  5. Also, most Black women, by and large are not intimidated by a strong women and the perceived lack of popularity of a qualified women who can do the work doesn't mean sh*t to us since we've been villified since the beginning to time. JMO, speaking as a Black women
  6. I have to ask, and this may sound like a harsh indictment to some but why didn't Black women believe the lies as others did? Kind of a rhetorical question but one that I think is important to ask, if anyone cares to know what Black women think and society has by and large shown us that they don't. ETA. The woman from WV who called FLOTUS "an ape in heels" and was 'fired' apparently now has her job back. Call me cynical but I can't even fake being surprised at this.
  7. Meh, the same complaints and frustrations slung at Obama are the same that were slung at Jimmy Carter. Only years later, after the Reagan years did people find out that Carter accomplished much more than he was accredited with accomplishing. Decades from now, Obama might be 90 and have a legacy of helping others that rivals Carter and what will be said of George W. and Trump years from now? No one, not least Obama has been willing to concede how virulently racist America is and how a Black man even at the highest levels would be restricted to a Congress that had many members who were resentful of his very existence. Given that, I don't know whether Obama saying anything would have done much when from day 1 he's had members of goverment yell "You Lie" in the middle of a SOTU address and be complimented on it. I'm convinced that a good deal of the American public would rather believe a lie than the truth. When Hillary mentioned DJT's collusion with Russian intelligence, it was summarily dismissed anyway. Didn't anyone pay attention?
  8. @JaneAusten Well, according to what I've read the evidence presented was presented as all circumstancial but has since been shown to be an abundance of circumstancial evidence. Circumstancial evidence, even on its face, has never been easy to make a case for. Perhaps this diminished the White House's ability to take it any further than they did. The disturbing fact remains that too many voters were willing to dismiss the abundance of lies spewing out of Trump's mouth and hold their nose and vote for him. Many Democrats, for various reasons, wanted/needed a pure, unsullied candidate, they didn't get one and so they voted (or not) in kind. Just over the weekend, DJT was bragging and thanking the Black voters who stayed at home because to him, it was just as good as voting for him. Now Black women voted 94% for Hillary but among Black men, Trump got a higher percentage of their votes than Romney, which is still low but surprising, nonetheless- which tells me personally, that patriarchy did indeed have a lot to do with people's choice in the voting booth. Men and Women of all ethnicities can end up promoting patriarchy and sexism. It existed during the Civil Rights movement, the Black Power movement as well as the Anti-War movement, even with all their good intentions. Had people really gone by the actual evidence, and not been willing to believe lies and prejudices, we'd have an utterly different outcome today.
  9. China just referred to Trump as 'ignorant' as a child but these Trumpkins can continue to delude themselves in the belief that Trump will usher in a 'new era of respect for the U.S.' Trump should really stick to defending his patron, Russia or Vlad will get mad.
  10. It's amazing the number of P&G connected soap actors who had commercials on CBS, often aired during ATWT, either before, after and in some cases, during their time on ATWT. It always gives me a chuckle to see Gregg Marx's Secret deodorant commercial aired repeatedly during 1987's ATWT episodes after he'd already left the show. Ellen Dolan had a laundry or dish detergent commercial that aired during ATWT shortly before she began the role of Margo Hughes. Just a few months ago, while on You Tube, I noticed Ming-Na Wen doing slightly cringe-worthy commercials for some prepared food company called Suzi Wan. Those are in addition to the commercials done by Larry Bryggman, Colleen Zenk and others, most of which aired during P&G soaps. Very interesting. I tend to think there was a spirit of reciprocity between P&G's divisions where actors could be fed into their soaps fresh from advertising their products and vice versa. Did any other network have such a reciprocal feeder system in regards to daytime?
  11. Is it just me or does his tone sound a bit, uh, abrupt?
  12. This Rex Tillerson guy from Exxon Mobil looks like he is rising to the top of the list for the Secretary of State position in a Trump Cabinet. He'll probably get it since he has ties to Russia.
  13. Texas would be a great show to get a streaming run on Yahoo Screen, the way they've done other classic shows recently. It had a short enough run that the entire series could be uploaded sequentially on the website. If only P&G would get off their hoarding haunches.
  14. I don't know whether anyone has been following the tangled saga of prolific doping of many Russian Olympic athletes but this article yielded a very interesting quote by a Russian MP. Russia doping scandal: Russian MP hopes ‘our beloved Mr Trump’ will end doping investigation “All this has a strong political undertone and we and all Russians hope that our beloved Mr Trump will put an end to this.” --- MP Igor Lebedev
  15. Weird how right after that sad report about Michael David Morrison's death there is a snippet of a commercial with Sloane Shelton (Harriet Corbman) who passed away earlier this year.
  16. Good, hopefully the Obama administration can scrutinize this very carefully. After dragging Hillary with those Goldman Sachs speeches, how many Goldman people is he using? Someone is now keeping tally of all the men who have faced domestic violence or sexual harassment allegations and are heading to Trump's upcoming cabinet. I'm not reading news articles as much because all this foolishness is wearing on me. Just today, I saw a headline in a newspaper (maybe the WAPO?) that discussed Trump's support along the "heroin highway". Just. sigh.
  17. @DRW50 It doesn't surprise, TBH. He was pretty brazen, even blaming aspects of the media for spreading 'false' ideas about him, which he alleges forces his separation from the campaign. I would not be surprised if he didn't make a clean break from Trump but just went further underground yet kept in contact with Trump, especially given his Russian connections- I just don't believe that he went away, merely out of public sight. The Trump people are pretty brazen and they have no reason not to be. The media continues to promote the claim that Trump has divested himself of his assets by putting all in a blind trust, which remains unsubstantiated and Trump is not being held to any presidential standards. Trump will even continue to executive produce The Apprentice, a network TV show presenting a major conflict of interest. The entire thing is utterly ridiculous and its allowed to stand without public uproar.
  18. Paul Manafort has popped up again, showing himself again (no surprise there) dodging questions per usual. On CBS This Morning they hardly pressed him on anything, I'm on the verge of losing respect for this show. Why have a guest like Manafort on when you are going to let him simply have his way?
  19. Yet NYC overwhelmingly voted for Hillary. So I definitely believe that the Trump vote being about economics is not convincing.
  20. LOL. After writing this, I immediately thought of my niece who is now a teenager. I was thinking of asking her parents if they'd be okay if I gave her a year's subscription as a gift.
  21. Would it be weird if a grown ass lady started subscribing to Teen Vogue? They've been doing some very good reporting lately putting the Newsweeks and the Time Magazines of the world to utter shame. The First Witness in the Dylann Roof Trial Delivered a Terrifying Testimony
  22. Apparently, Christina McHale is too busy retweeting Ryan Harrison and John Isner to figure out why she can't win matches efficiently or under 5 hours. I will stop bothering with her and her dimming tennis prospects from now on.
  23. I hope this is not true but already it's reminiscent of Russia and their state news vehicle RT. “Trump TV” announces new 24-hour network will get access to White House press briefings
