  1. Late stage ATWT gave me the notion that they brought back James just as much to mix things up with the newer characters as with Barbara, which is not a bad idea, if you know what you’re doing and how to write it but that’s not what I recall from what I saw on my screen. John absolutely should have been brought back, even for a brief time during a story arc- Larry and Anthony usually lit up scenes during which they played opposite each other, with even just a look.
  2. LOL. The characterization and the writing were in competition for which was worse. But, let’s say, with decent writing and portrayal that actually paid attention to the original incarnation of Dusty Donovan…it could have been interesting to play that against latter day James Stenbeck. Stenbeck needed a genuine nemesis, someone (not named Barbara Ryan) who was a match for him.
  3. Yet. One would think that being staffed is an eventual goal, no?
  4. I was only able to get through a handful of episodes of Ambitions. Now, I’m starting to get a little nervous.
  5. There was some loopiness in that woman impersonating a presumably dead woman but overall I enjoyed that episode. Jane Krakowski, Wilt Chamberlain and Leo O’Brien (The Last Dragon) all in one commercial for chewing gum, no less. Ah the early ‘80s.
  6. If I didn’t know better, I would swear that James is somehow afraid of Dusty. Of all the 2,000 times the show brought back Stenbeck over the decades, the show could have brought up that aspect more, especially in the years when the show was hurting for good material.
  7. Thanks for this @NothinButAttitudeand thanks @DRW50 for tagging me. I don’t remember ever having seen this episode, a rarity for me at this point! Call me sentimental but I am enjoying this sequence between Margo and Cricket (did anyone notice Margo called her “Bug”? It was affectionate which is quite different from when the character Christine Blair gets called “The Bug” by her arch nemesis on Y&R). We know how messy Margo could be but how messy are the other Montgomery children to make Margo look like the sibling that has her sh*t together?! The way Karen is styled here, for a minute I thought, wait…is this Beth from Guiding Light? is this a promo for GL? What a wild era for BG music on soaps. I can’t take these music cues seriously lol.
  8. BBC News also reported, which I admit I am still in the process of viewing.
  9. Some interviews with family members of the hostages have been emerging.
  10. Discrimination relief payments begin as some Black farmers ask courts to include heirs in program
  11. Has it been posted here that VP Harris got the endorsement of the United Autoworkers Union?
  12. I am darker skinned than VP Kamala Harris and I have had people dismissively stating that I am not Black because my parents (who are also visibly Black people) are foreign born. This is not a new phenomenon, people. People casually express this degree of ignorance all the time.
  13. This, on top of Emma Navarro’s statement that she doesn’t respect Wen Qinwen makes the off court drama far and away more interesting than the dull on court matches. This is the most dull Olympic Games for tennis since I first saw tennis at the Olympic Games in 1988. Tokyo 2020 wasn’t great either but I ran out of f*cks to give about this competition days ago.
  14. Still hoping for some new blood with fresh ideas in the writer’s room.
  15. Years ago, there was that meme of clips featuring Harris, who was still a Senator, launching her Presidential campaign set to Megan Thee Stallion’s song “Savage”. It was very clever, I might have even posted it in this thread. I am fairly certain that both women saw that meme.
  16. Since that could be more than one thing, I’m trying to be good and not try to bug you for any more information. But…I am going to allow myself to start getting excited. 😊
  17. Ooh, something to look forward to!
  18. I miss the WLS blog and Roger’s interviews with the soap stars and personalities. My main question is whether we’ll see some iteration of the WLS blog/YouTube channel get going again with a new soap being launched next year.
  19. Yes, the whole NABJ convention has become a whole entire mess. Roland Martin also complained that on top of Harrison Faulkner likely soft-pedaling questions to Trump , not one Black male journalist was invited to participate.
  20. @janea4oldand @wonderwoman1951. I made the correction to my post. Although The New Yorker has had its moments of ableism and mocking disguised as satire, they can’t take the blame this time around. I don’t want the point to get lost about why people would be angry about such a cover .These folks know exactly what they’re doing. Maybe people who haven’t lived it won’t understand.
  21. It’s definitely degrading in the context in which they have chosen to present this. Anyone who knows the history of how Brown people from islands and the children of Brown people from islands were derisively called coconuts, knows this. I refuse to believe that a periodical as old as New York Magazine would be totally ignorant of this, particularly when they brand themselves as knowledgeable of what goes on globally. And notice the mostly Brown people at the base of the coconut. They know what they’re doing. Just like they knew what they were doing with the Obamas caricature.
  22. So basically, no one at the Olympic Gold Zone never had a lesson in basic U.S. history or civics and obviously have no knowledge of PR’s status in relation to the U.S. Wait until they find out that France has been staging an entire Olympic event in Tahiti!
  23. Oh Donna Summer (R.I.P.) had quite a few siblings from what I have read. The recent documentary done by Summer’s daughters mentioned that Summer’s two sisters sang backup and often toured with her.
