  1. The only thing I wish is those clips to be in better visual quality. The verbal combat between Barbara and Margo built to a crescendo so expertly in any given scene. I liked how they often drew on their history, going back to Margo’s affair with James as subtext for the tension between the two. During this particular period of time, ATWT was really good at writing compelling verbal jousting between rival characters. Someone needs to make a compilation for Lisa and Lucinda. The scene at Diana’s that ends with Lisa blithely declaring “Oh, how I despise her” is one of my favorite scenes between them.😂
  2. Regardless of how Oprah was raised (and her being from Mississippi, I doubt she was told to vote for individual rather than party), she’s in the billionaire class and most of them have this idea that they function independently (psst, they do not). In the past, Oprah has had vehement disagreements with those who have cited luck in her success. She cites hard work and being good at what she does over chance. Honey, it’s both, I say. Many wealthy people cite har work and pluck (and sometimes even talent) as the key to their success, but are hard pressed to admit that someone had to give them that initial chance, even if by chance, we mean an opportunity or investment/seed money or even a valuable piece of advice on how to begin. While it’s obvious to me and you and likely half of America that Oprah clearly votes Democratic at the national level, she may be sliding in references to voting for both parties on the state legislative and municipal levels just so she can take the part of an “independent” and speak to and try to convince independent voters to vote for VP Harris. Those are the voters that most Dems are constantly being told we have to convince, no? Hopefully some other prominent person can urge voters to vote for Democrats down ballot so as to give a President Harris the Democratic majority in Congress. Maybe MacKenzie Scott, she’s a billionaire too, no? We shouldn’t leave Oprah to do all the work of convincing voters and given the press surrounding Scott’s recent philanthropic contributions, I would say she’s pretty well known too now. At this point, MacKenzie Scott’s message would be disseminated every bit as quickly as any message from Oprah. She should also dig in and do the work.
  3. I don’t have any proof, just a suspicion but I think I am not the only one who feels this way. I can only report something that I have the necessary receipts for. Oh okay, that’s what I initially thought but wasn’t sure. I can’t remember the last time I went on the main website’s comment section.
  4. ^^Ahaha! That was perfect! @Wendy
  5. Oh no!. He was such a talented coach and seemed like a chill character! What other coach could successfully coach Roger Federer and Marat Safin to major titles?! What a loss.
  6. This is awful to hear. There are some threads that I stay away from and there are a few trolls that I have on Ignore as well as a few that I have on Ignore that I know use more than one identity in their avi but I doubt that this is what @Errolhas been describing as occurring. This being as election year, the thought that some persons might infiltrate and try to exploit this platform as a means to spew vitriol and hateful bile has unfortunately crossed my mind. Sad to know that anyone is using this forum for any purpose other than to have high-spirited and respectful discussions.
  7. WTF. FBI probes insect attack on Democratic breakfast in Chicago
  8. PBS has the full unedited roll call.
  9. One article said the points were coming from IW? Hm, I guess the reference to Cincinnati is indicating that points are coming off now, rather than next year at IW? Also, the physio massaged this “mystery” gel without the use of gloves. Hm. Some players are also grumbling that the length of time that the investigation took place seemed very brief. The turnaround time in days/weeks rather than the standard time of months, suggesting a lack of thoroughness. Also some players hinting that Sinner’s ranking spared him. We know that this has been known to happen with high ranked players, specifically on the ATP side (see: Andre Agassi) when a player fails a doping test and it is concealed and/or consequences are muted or eliminated altogether.
  10. The roll call was pretty lit! Getting DJ Cassidy was a fun touch.
  11. So, Sinner will lose points and prize money from Cincinnati. Hm. How does a physiotherapist not know that anabolic steroids are banned? They’ve been banned since the 80s, at minimum. Also, as an athlete, shouldn’t you be asking questions about what someone else is putting on your body? The excuses of tainted beef and pasta and cocaine kisses…it’s all a bit ridiculous now.
  12. I’m just going to hold positive thoughts and vibes for a well written show with high production values, ground-breaking subject matter and the proper people put in place to make this all happen. No comment on the rest.
  13. Sorry to hear of Phil Donahue’s passing. Even today’s current iteration of daytime talk shows are part of the legacy of the Phil Donahue Show, knowing how Donahue inspired Oprah but the current crop of talk shows, from what I have seen don’t inspire that level of intimacy in dealing with current events. Today’s talk shows seem to feature talking points relayed by talking heads, while Donahue featured conversation between a host, guest and the audience, which were often an extension of the viewers at home. Seems like a bygone era now. R.I.P. Mr. Donahue.
  14. Those who leaned toward West are likely to stay home imo. I cannot speak to what Stein voters will do. As a non subscriber (I have never had a paid subscription to the NYT) who occasionally skims/reads articles, I sensed some of these machinations between some members of the various WH staff but I wonder about the relevance of discussing this now? Vice Presidential Learning Curve: How Kamala Harris Picked Her Shots
  15. Wow, I had no idea Rep. Steny Hoyer had a stroke.
  16. President Biden and Vice President Harris deliver remarks on the progress they are making to lower costs for the American people.
  17. This is good news in a region that has seen very little of it. Sudan to allow use of Adre border crossing for three months to facilitate aid
  18. Wallace “Wally” Amos of Famous Amos Cookies has died. Wally "Famous" Amos Dies: Talent Agent-Turned-Cookie-Mogul Was 88 And yes, he also hosted a show called Learn To Read. He really was a true example of how someone could adapt, adjust and pivot in their life and career.
  19. From time to time, her films pop into my mind. R.I.P.
  20. Insane. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. tried to meet with Kamala Harris to discuss Cabinet job
  21. Biden has earned the right to recite his list of “I told you so’s”. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that media will give this as much ink and attention as they did carping on his age and his son Hunter.
  22. Someone posted some audio from yesterday’s debacle between Tech bro and TFG and man, it turned my stomach to hear him ogle Harris, comparing her to Melania. Only in his dreams.🤢
  23. Honestly, that is very considerate of you. I appreciate it. Seems like there has been a trickle of former soap stars starting their own YouTube channels. I think Scott may have one, although I haven’t seen it lately and he may not upload often. If only more would do as Patricia Bruder Debrovner has done and post a few complete episodes, maybe we could piece together a few of these missing episodes from the show’s heights.
  24. Because I couldn’t have been the only one who thought SNL skit when I saw that “performance” at the Olympics.
