Has it been posted here that VP Harris got the endorsement of the United Autoworkers Union?- The Media/Journalism Thread
I am darker skinned than VP Kamala Harris and I have had people dismissively stating that I am not Black because my parents (who are also visibly Black people) are foreign born. This is not a new phenomenon, people. People casually express this degree of ignorance all the time.- The Tennis Thread
This, on top of Emma Navarro’s statement that she doesn’t respect Wen Qinwen makes the off court drama far and away more interesting than the dull on court matches. This is the most dull Olympic Games for tennis since I first saw tennis at the Olympic Games in 1988. Tokyo 2020 wasn’t great either but I ran out of f*cks to give about this competition days ago.- ARTICLE: REPORT: Bob Guza and Julie Carruthers Named Executive Producers of ‘The Gates’
Still hoping for some new blood with fresh ideas in the writer’s room.- The Politics Thread
Years ago, there was that meme of clips featuring Harris, who was still a Senator, launching her Presidential campaign set to Megan Thee Stallion’s song “Savage”. It was very clever, I might have even posted it in this thread. I am fairly certain that both women saw that meme.- BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos

Yes, the whole NABJ convention has become a whole entire mess. Roland Martin also complained that on top of Harrison Faulkner likely soft-pedaling questions to Trump , not one Black male journalist was invited to participate.- The Media/Journalism Thread
@janea4oldand @wonderwoman1951. I made the correction to my post. Although The New Yorker has had its moments of ableism and mocking disguised as satire, they can’t take the blame this time around. I don’t want the point to get lost about why people would be angry about such a cover .These folks know exactly what they’re doing. Maybe people who haven’t lived it won’t understand.- The Media/Journalism Thread
It’s definitely degrading in the context in which they have chosen to present this. Anyone who knows the history of how Brown people from islands and the children of Brown people from islands were derisively called coconuts, knows this. I refuse to believe that a periodical as old as New York Magazine would be totally ignorant of this, particularly when they brand themselves as knowledgeable of what goes on globally. And notice the mostly Brown people at the base of the coconut. They know what they’re doing. Just like they knew what they were doing with the Obamas caricature.- 2024 Summer Olympics
So basically, no one at the Olympic Gold Zone never had a lesson in basic U.S. history or civics and obviously have no knowledge of PR’s status in relation to the U.S. Wait until they find out that France has been staging an entire Olympic event in Tahiti!- Sister Act: Who Didn't Get Cast?
Oh Donna Summer (R.I.P.) had quite a few siblings from what I have read. The recent documentary done by Summer’s daughters mentioned that Summer’s two sisters sang backup and often toured with her.- The Politics Thread
This article from the Jamaica Gleaner (one of the world’s oldest newspapers) discusses the excitement among naturalized citizens, particularly those from the Jamaican diaspora, as well as the Caribbean communities in Florida for a VP Harris. https://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/lead-stories/20240729/diaspora-excitement-harris-presidency-chart- PBS launches free retro channel
Technically, I could have bought one last year. My decision making has been halted by a lot of things but this year it has definitely been being overly picky and the seeming inability to make a decision. I just need to get over it and make a choice.- PBS launches free retro channel
I can’t even blame the damn phone 🤷🏾♀️It’s the iPad Pro. I keep saying I’m going to buy a laptop. At first it was budget but now I have more than enough to purchase whatever laptop I want but I can find a big sexy laptop that has the storage and memory that I want. I don’t want to be upgrading in two years but maybe I should settle on something because I’m getting sick of the limitations of this iPad. I mean, having to spend $200 for a friggin’ keyboard and without the mouse?! I refuse.- The Politics Thread
Lo and behold, a NYT article that actually provides some insight into the leadership and diplomatic style of VP Harris, from the lips of foreign leaders, diplomats and activists. Kamala Harris Is Known Abroad for a Personal Touch, and Tough Talk- 2024 Summer Olympics
The singing performances were all top tier imo but like others have been saying Céline’s performance was the top of the parfait. Her voice was amazing. Celine Dion closes the Olympic Opening Ceremony with a courageous tour de force | NBC Sports- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I was thinking about the company that he was helping curate the collections for, Soap Classics was a company (maybe they dissolved by now?) that distributed the collections and operated the streaming platforms. I could be mistaken but I thought it was two guys that ran the SC operation. I’ve always been curious about them, they seemed mysterious. He also has worked (perhaps still does) in PR for the Bronx Community Health Network.- The Politics Thread
This is what I cannot abide by, these billionaires thinking their donations should entitle them to get whatever they want. No. So far, VP Harris seems to be leaning into small donor funds, which I would prefer, as it would help to diminish the influence of wealthy donors. Two billionaire Harris donors hope she will fire FTC Chair Lina Khan They deny it, even as it is being documented that Sudan’s army is blocking food aid from entering the region to help prevent emerging famine, which could end up starving a million plus people. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/sudans-agriculture-minister-says-there-is-no-famine-in-the-country/ar-BB1qD0Bu - The Politics Thread
