The Media/Journalism Thread
Funny, that I knew so very little about Nuzzi outside of the drip drips of her controversies, because I honestly had previously read almost none of her writing. Now it’s just so much messiness and I am feeling like I am reading entirely too much about her. Have we really had a discussion about the news writers and journalists who are leaving legacy newspapers and news journals/outlets for the indie route (newsletters, social media platforms, etc.) and what, if any effect it will have on the nature of news reporting and news media?

I have been waiting for some time to see Fils really begin to make good on his potential. I hope this is just the beginning for him.

Yes, when Kristofferson’s passing was announced, that memory of him trying to calm the crowds of people trying to unleash their anger at Sinead came to mind immediately. This has been a tough week in many regards. R.I.P. John Amos a magnetic, expressive actor who will be remembered for three highly memorable roles, that of James Evans on Good Times, Kunta Kinte in Roots and Cleo McDowell in Coming To America. His son really did try to ensure that his father would receive his flowers while he was still with us.

R.I.P. to Mutombo. The fact that the continent of Africa now has its own NBA training program is as a result to African giants in the NBA, of which Dikembe Mutombo is one. And to anyone seeking to diminish his legacy with foolishness wrapped in conspiracy theories- My House GIFfrom My GIFs

Happy 100th Birthday to President Jimmy Carter. Despite all the challenges that President Carter has had to endure, especially in the last several years, he has met each challenge with enormous grace. His life is a testimony to service to humanity and no detractors (many of whom he has outlived) can ever take that away from him. We are truly blessed to be alive in an era where President Carter is here alive on this planet that we all share.

Zachary Levi is one of those actors whose face I somehow recognize but I can’t think of anything that I have ever seen him in and I can’t be bothered to search his screen credits. He’s not worth the effort.

Oh damn, this is all too much. R.I.P. to Mr. Kristofferson, his performances on stage and onscreen were always full of heart.

DAYS: R.I.P. Drake Hogestyn (John Black, Days of our Lives)
Personally, this news is so deeply triggering and tragic. So many of us have lost loved ones due to pancreatic cancer. Why can’t every effort be exhausted in order to formulate treatments that help people go into remission or even prevent the most deadly cancers instead of all this energy to annihilating people?? This is just too much. Heartfelt condolences to Hogestyn’s family and loved ones. Each of these announcements are devastating.

Y&R: September 2024 Spoilers
I will just keep reading the comments on this message board maybe down the road I might have some desire to watch but for now, even the possibility of what I am reading showing up on screen is depressing to me personally. You all will have to let me know if any drama at all happens with Devon and Abby. That would have been a perfect time to have a veiled woman walk in and turn out to be Hilary, in the old days of good soap, something along those lines would have occurred. But in JG’s world good drama usually doesn’t enter into the story of what lands onscreen.

Don’t worry, anything JG can come up with is always so far away from what viewers actually like that he’ll get nowhere near the ideas in this thread.- The Politics Thread
Yeah, that Adam’s situation had been brewing for months. Just about everyone in his administration was either being raided, indicted or walking away from his administration so I knew it didn’t look good. It’s as bad or worse than the GOP situation(s) in Nassau County. Just a few weeks ago, I was musing that if Maya Wiley wanted to run again, she could run on the “see what you could’ve had NYC” campaign but she has given no indication that she would like another bite at the “Big Apple” and there are other candidates who have thrown their proverbial hats into the ring. For weeks, I had been thinking the unthinkable— that Adams should be ‘primaried’.- The Politics Thread

It’s been a very very hectic couple of days and I haven’t been able to watch anything but I hope to be able to watch the appearance of POTUS Biden on The View at some point. I haven’t been able to watch anything with Clooney since his insinuations into Biden’s reelection bid.- Y&R: Amy Lewis Returning
When I used to be on Twitter, Lydia Cornell used to follow me (and vice versa). If she could do improv with Larry David on Curb Your Enthusiasm, I think she might be able to vibe on Y&R, with a slight learning curb.- The Politics Thread
Given what is happening in the rest of the world, I know people are not likely to be paying much attention to what’s been happening in Sri Lanka and it wouldn’t really be your fault if you haven’t been, since the media (especially U.S. media) hasn’t done much reporting on the nation since the protests and Rajapaksa’s exile last year. They just had an election a few days ago. Here’s an update: https://news.yahoo.com/news/left-leaning-candidate-leads-sri-035801017.html- Y&R: Amy Lewis Returning
Thanks, I was just riffing but what would have worked best would have been not to kill Hilary off in the first place. But if you’re going to try to make lemonade out of lemons, go with a storyline that has the potential to be a big umbrella mystery.- BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos

Has anyone seen this? Someone put up the full documentary the other day. I saw the description on social media and opened up a tab with the video, then got too busy to watch. The next thing I knew, the video had disappeared by the time I went back to watch it. I don’t subscribe to MSNBC, I haven’t subscribed to cable television for over a decade now so, unless there is an upload of the full movie, it is unlikely that I would be able to watch it. Since people in the comments of the trailer are begging for a full upload of the movie, maybe the network might be persuaded. - Y&R: Amy Lewis Returning
