  1. I don’t think I got to see these in real time, it was probably years later but every time I see them, I can’t help but think, man, are these courtroom scenes compelling! It would have been nice to do one of those reunion livestreams where both Maeve and Melissa talk about what was going on in and behind the scenes on the days these scenes were filmed!
  2. They may have right-wing zealots terrorizing migrants and immigrants in a daily xenophobic rage but the Brits sure do know how to generate those Kodak©️moments!
  3. Byrne should just make the leap over to Truth Social and Gttr (or whatever it’s called) where no doubt she would sound like the most sane and rational one on those platforms and they’d be willing to overlook that pesky expectation that an officer of the law would actually adhere to the law. It’s logical that, given her husband’s legal quagmire, she’d be deadly afraid of a former attorney general. Anyways, This interview with President Biden really got me at moments.
  4. Sadly, the genie is out of the bottle and I expect Los Angeles to display even more gaudy examples of brazen sponsorship. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/10/world/olympics/when-olympic-sponsors-go-rogue.html
  5. Sound bites can be appealing but I hope this will give people the impetus to actually read Ifill’s book, filled with insight.
  6. As amusing and bemusing as this odd story is, I still wonder when the MSM will do their jobs and explicitly call out Trump’s lies as actual lies and stop using every soft-focus euphemism they can reach for. This dancing around obvious facts is beyond tiresome. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/10/us/politics/trump-helicopter-crash-willie-brown.html#:~:text=It just wasn't Mr,emergency landing in New Jersey.
  7. 😳😂I just saw this. As a little girl in the 80s, one of my older brothers was in a crew. I have got to show this video to him!🤣
  8. Speaking of joy, President Biden seems intent on not letting others steal his.
  9. I have been in contact with some friends who were at the Phoenix rally and from how she described it, the livestreams didn’t begin to pick up the excitement that was in the arena. My friends have told me that they intend to canvas and phone bank for Harris/Walz. I watched by livestream last night.
  10. Has the Olympics broken breaking? The soul and art look like they are sorely lacking.
  11. The Dutch, at least, are attempting to adhere to some sensible protocols when it comes to avoiding COVID (and not functioning as a superspreader) at the Paris Olympic Games. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/08/world/olympics/paris-olympics-covid-19.html
  12. Haha, that trigger warning about Lily @DRW50. Yes, it was a bit much, especially since it wouldn’t be that long before she would throw Dusty over for Holden. I do remember this episode. Scott Bryce always did pathos very well.
  13. Oh wow, I didn’t know that. Years ago, I did read someone ask why she and her sister looked as if there were a huge disparity in their ages, though they were very close in age and another person responded “cigarettes”. I don’t know what to say about the cosmetic surgery. It’s sad if that’s why she did it, but issues like that, can be more complex than meets the eye. Hollywood is a rough place, especially for women and double it for women of color, where there is the perception that “Black don’t crack”. Kim is someone I would definitely be interested in knowing what happened in her life. She and her fiancé Spencer (played by Sheryl Lee Ralph’s brother) were both med students at Hillman and the show could just as easily build the show around any kids they might have had.
  14. That was my very first thought. They gave him the Tony Orlando hairstyle circa 1970s.
  15. I’m not even gonna get into the ethics of being in close proximity to teammates who didn’t know he had COVID. I did think it was odd that he was expending so much energy in the walkout and preparation for his race-why not conserve energy? There’s a saying that tennis players say: if you’re fit enough to show up, you’re fit enough to compete, no excuses.
  16. It’s so odd when I get a premonition—to paraphrase Stevie Nicks- I keep them to myself. After watching Letsile Tebogo place 1st in his Heat, ahead of Noah Lyles, I got this feeling (a premonition, if you will) that it would be Tebogo getting the gold in the 200M. And here we are! And now, consider the geopolitical dynamics of the Javelin gold medal going from India in the Tokyo Games to their archnemesis Pakistan in Paris.
  17. Oops, wrong thread. Carry on!
  18. Thought I would share the article that @janea4old posted in the Politics thread with this dedicated thread since it is relevant to the topic of discussion here as well. Smotrich has a history of saying things like this.
  19. My friends and I were getting our absolute lives talking about that rally clip. The Black woman jumped out!🤣 And that stare and neck turn is straight outta the West Indies!🤭 Don’t mess with this woman. My mom, an expert practitioner of the long stare and the quick neck snap (although she also adds a kiss of teeth, for good measure) was quite impressed with this display of no nonsense from the VP.
  20. When Debbie Allen responded to a question about a ADW revival by saying she was “working on it”, this was surely what was in the works. This is interesting but we all know that Netflix has mixed results on reboots and revival or legacy television series. Had it been rebooted/revived on Peacock, I would have felt a bit more secure on this but I guess she had to play the hand she was dealt. This will be interesting. Thanks for the tag @Taoboi. It sure would be nice to have some cameo appearances and brief storyline arcs by the original cast members (e.g. what if the daughter were to major in journalism and got into a course where the guest lecturer were none other than Maggie Lawton? What if a divorced Denise Huxtable were doing her PhD and thinking about a semester at Hilton? That could draw in Dwayne and Whitley for a B story)
  21. Also on the VP’s YouTube channel.
  22. The state of Georgia still has a chance to correct their previous error in judgment by electing her as their next governor when the time comes.
  23. Yes Lord! It was even worse in 2019 when people were using all kinds of words to undermine her ability. Harris, no doubt gained so much insight from being VP to one of the most successful leaders in American politics but she has always had the ability and political acumen. I saw that in 2019, despite all the put downs. Also, I hope people take a second look at Stacey Abram’s another leader with high political acumen, who definitely knows how politics and public service works.
  24. Also, John Shaft (Richard Roundtree) Reggie Jackson, Billy Dee Williams, Isaac from the “Love Boat”.
