  1. I'm not sure something like this has ever happened. Sure, the odd ESC-winner had great chart success with their winning song (Loreen, Dana International, Brotherhood of Man, Vicky Leandros, Sandie Shaw), but I don't think any of them had any real follow-up success. Céline Dion had to wait several years after her win, and even ABBA had to wait more than a year before they could successfully replicate what they did with "Waterloo".
  2. Considering that Djokovic is the only one of the "big three" to win each major at least twice, and the fact that he has winning records against both Nadal and Federer, I think he now has to be regarded as the greatest of the three.
  3. YES!! Congratulations to Ashleigh Barty! First Australian woman to win Wimbledon since Evonne Goolagong 1980!
  4. British actress Anne Stallybrass ("The Onedin Line") has died, aged 82
  5. It really did. Incredibly childish of Berrettini if that was the reason. Especially since he himself offered no apology at all when he had a netcord winner later.
  6. ^^ I think her own comments indicates that that is exactly what happened. Wimbledon 2021: Emma Raducanu is 'feeling better' after retiring from fourth-round match Wow, Federer was pitiful in that third set. I don't think we will see him at Wimbledon again.
  7. I think it's a little bit of a stretch to call Carroll Baker "film legend" (), and this is just like Angela Lansbury's antiquated views which came to light during the initial MeToo furore. Ms Baker comes from a different era, and even though we might find her views appalling, why should we even bother about them? I would imagine that a majority is thinking: Carroll who?
  8. I don't see Ashleigh Barty's game as boring. Quite the opposite actually. She has a good first serve, a fine second serve, and she has a more varied style of play than a lot of other players who rely more on power. In that respect she reminds me a little of Martina Hingis. She didn't rely on power either. Barty is not the most charismatic person, I can agree with that, but frankly, neither is Roger Federer....
  9. I just watched the Barty-Tomljanovic match and found it hilarious how our Swedish commentators were so enamoured with Barty's tactic of slicing, then running around and dominating play with her forehand. Gee, it just felt like I have seen that before..... 🤔 Yes, now I remember! Steffi Graf did it to perfection 30 years ago! 🙄 😁
  10. Disappointing for the home crowd that Raducanu had to retire. That means of course that we will have an Australian woman in the semi-finals since Barty will face Tomljanovic in one quarter-final.
  11. How tragic. Only 24 years old.
  12. Can anyone stop Novak Djokovic from winning Wimbledon and thereby tying Federer and Nadal with 20 Majors? And perhaps even more interesting, can anyone stop him from joining Donald Budge, Rod Laver, Maureen Connolly, Margaret Court and Steffi Graf as a winner of a real Grand Slam in singles?
  13. Ridiculous. Thankfully Ostapenko's childish attempt to throw Tomljanovic off balance didn't work and she lost. Happy for the home crowd that Emma Raducanu is through to the fourth round. 👍
