I recall when they lured back Robert as Josh..there was excitement..and people wondering if the show would do a Harley/Mallet/Josh triangle. But when the actors playing Harley and Mallet opted to leave..the show had to think fast and I believe Tangie was created to give Josh something to do. You could tell Tangie felt shoehorned in. Ironically, by 1995..Tangie finally felt like she fit working at the journal, being friends with Blake...and had a father/daughter like connection to Roger. Too little, too late

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I was watching season 1 of BH..and while they had the Kyle/Camille beef last the whole.season...it didn't leave me exhausted because of the following: - saw more day to day with all the women..even going to events on their own without making it a gathering. -no rehashing of fights in follow up scenes -not everyone went to every event -other events happened (i.e Kim's issues, taylor's marriage, Adrienne 's odd food preparation skills, Camille/Kelsey's marriage ending, and LVP adventures in LA with Cedric). I don't know when that changed for BH

There was an interview with MG after she quit GL citing the lack of growth and strength in Holly was the reason she left. She had hoped to see some more agency in the character post Roger falling off the cliff..but was made more passive. If you saw late 1979 episodes, Holly was more assertive so I can see she thought it would have continued into 1980.

Look into the past - 1975
Search for tomorrow: looks like the seeds of Jennifer/john/Eunice were starting at this point. Peggy o'shea is often under rated. She did good work on Capitol & OLTL in the 80s. Guiding Light: I have a feeling had Lynne Adam's opted not to leave GL...that the Dobson's would have continued with writing Leslie. I'm sending a hint of a Mike/Leslie/Ann triangle in the Feb 1976 synopsis. I like the show is slowly working Rita into the mix with being a friendly ear to Ed, being ambitious at work, while making eyes at Dr Tim Ryan..making Pam jealous. I'm seeing a redemption of Holly is continuing (the original actress playing her was unhappy with the change I recall)..while it appeared at this point that Holly/ed and roger/peggy were the end game couples...and having Christina in the mix would have caused years of complications. Love of Life: a head writer change is evident..it isn't as interesting to read as 1975 was with Labine/Avila & Depriest in charge. The Doctors: I watched the reruns on Retro..candella's stint was boring...Depriest's stint was more interesting, if a little too plot driven.

Love of life...I was kinda bummed that Felicia's stalker was real..cause there seemed to be hints that it might be in her mind..and considering all the backstory..it would have made sense.

ALL: They Almost Became
I'd love to have heard what other roles Sonia had screen tested for...she said she had 8 screen tests..and not all of them were on GL. I didn't know Catherine Hickland auditioned for Julie on Capital when it started and lost the role. Also, that she did a blind audition later for Capital and was shocked after she was cast that it was as Julie.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Denise and Garcelle are the only BH housewives that does. I'm sure Sutton did as well before her ex got involved. One thing I'll give Tamra, shannon, vicki, and Kelly on the OC...they showed almost everything

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I would hope this might make Bravo put an edict out that Brandi not be allowed back on the show...especially if she lied thus causing them time and money to redo the 2nd part of the season. Maybe if the franchise went back to the old format with a reduced episode count...maybe the franchise can survive.

Love of life had 3 regimes in 1975..and it maintained it's intriguing content. 1976 is when the show started losing its focus

At my old job, I had to work with P & G..no communication amongst departments, strict rules, and only way to reach someone was via IM. And that was just dealing with online review platforms...so I don't trust they would think to stream their soaps. Shame Colgate only produced the Doctors..and no other soaps. They were smart to save most of their episodes.

Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman Discussion thread
Maybe they could what Warner Bros did..where if someone orders it..they produce it and ship it...like a DVD on demand format for Forever Fernwood. Seeing Shelley F as the new heavy would be a treat

Primetime Soaps
The amount of money spent on Beacon Hill is why the network didn't give it time. Also, it appears that there were internal disagreements over the tone and focus of the show. Was it supposed to be a primetime soap, or more a drama with self-contained stories (ala like the Waltons). Lastly, no matter how much it may have improved...it would always be compared to Upstairs Downstairs.

Allison D in season 1 did say Kyle would be married twice, but would be emotional unfulfilled and unhappy.

Lucy, as a character, was a good idea..but she should have come in earlier (before Harley left) and the writing should have developed her more. Frank/Harley didn't have parents growing up so both had more defenses and resentment (played out quite nicely). So imagine both finding out that Buzz had a daughter..one that he raised. Both of them woujld have been more resentful toward Buzz and would have been cold/distant to Lucy. Nadine and Lucy had a close relationship develop over time..so having that could have made Harley and Frank even more jealous and resentful against Lucy. It would have worked had the show written Lucy as a character and not a Harley replacement

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I live in Texas..and it just hit Dallas hard this past week (so far over half the cases have recovered there)...but Houston's the area hit hardest in Texas. I'm curious to see if the Dallas women are wearing masks since the mask mandate went into effect officially last week..and gatherings are limited to under 10 (at least where I live). I would hope to see more day to day without as much group interaction
