  1. OK I will when I get my scanner going again. I might also post some old photos of Victoria Wyndham in her GL days, with that same quasi-flip Susan Seaforth had at the time, and with some of the old crutches of photos of this era (furs and guitars). Sometimes I think every other photo in these magazines was of a soap star on a guitar.
  2. Someone said JFP got rid of furs on OLTL. I'm not sure if they were real by then or not. To me it doesn't seem quite right for Viki - old old money - and Dorian - pretender to old money - to not wear fur. I think both actresses suited it for some reason. That's fascinating about the coats - the poor quality. I did think a few looked tacky and cheap, like they belonged in that Sean Connery movie, Zardoz, or Outland, or whatever. I think I showed you that clip from ATWT 1986 with the fur fashion show. It was a bit surreal. I can never quite get my head around Kim wearing a fur, for some reason. It seems to wear her. You learn such fascinating things in these magazines. I never knew that Liz Hubbard wanted to leave acting to become a news broadcaster. I'm glad she didn't - my formative years would have not been the same.
  3. You're right - I thought they mentioned it. Strange. I remember watching some thing last year about how Burberry had made a comeback among young people and young mothers in the UK, and people like Katie Price or Kerry Katona. Is it me or do those smocks make her look pregnant? I wish there was more out there about this. I have the recaps for the whole year (77) if anyone wants to see them. And an interview with Rauch and Lemay. I think I mostly want to see color photos.
  4. That was something Digest did for a number of years, having a random soap star go to a local restaurant. The last I remember was Frances Fisher. I do wonder how many of those are still around. It's weird to see Nancy that way mostly because I can't see Jill ever allowing herself to enjoy such a display, although she did wear fur. (Deborah would have luxuriated in it though). It makes me laugh because Delia, Jill's arch-rival, had the story where she was obsessed with a fur coat and wore it all the time, even during the spring. I can imagine her reaction to this. I never knew her father ran a fur store. I never knew Liz Hubbard's husband did either. She modeled "furs for pregnant women" in some old Daytime TV. I think Lucinda was one of the last soap characters to wear them, and from what ATWT said to SOD around the late 80/early 90s, they were real.
  5. Oh you mean the show being a flop? Is it me or is that blouse and neck bib under the black coat one of the ugliest things you've ever seen. And when was gold lame ever "hot," unless Nancy wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer. I think you talked some in some other threads about fur - I don't know if you saw it or not but in the Ryan's Hope thread I posted a spread of Nancy Addison from her father's fur shop.
  6. From the October 1977 Digest.
  7. I would love to know what he thought about being on AW, not one of the "bigger" soaps, but he must have been delighted to see Felicia Gallant. Felicia or boring Leslie Brooks? No contest. Anything else you ever want to see, let me know and I'll see if I have it.
  8. SFK, here is the rest of the Liberace interview.
  9. Thanks. For some reason I thought Liz Keifer was Jerry Lacy's daughter. I guess he didn't have any daughters. I wonder if the story would have made more sense with Lorie. Would Claire have tormented her the way Vanessa did.
  10. Thanks for sharing this with us. Mary went through all kinds of horrible health problems in the space of a few years - wasn't this not long after she'd had a miscarriage? They should have saved some of this for a longer space of time. Weird to see when Gina was conniving. Is it me or is Leslie a bit player in this story? Was that the way it was supposed to be? Who played Angela and Carol? The story sounds like warmed over hash from radio soap days. Was it any better onscreen?

  12. September 28 1982.
  13. I apologize for an earlier error. The March 30 recap was actually one from August 1982. I got the scans all mixed up. I have posted the right recap and will now repost the other in the place it should be (I hope).
  14. From the August 3, 1982 Digest (I think).
  15. April 1953 Radio TV Mirror's Daytime Diary section. Right to Happiness Resuming his administration as governor under difficult circumstances, Miles Nelson's personal life is also strained as he and Carolyn cannot seem to resolve the tension that alienates them. Carolyn is well aware that Miles' distrust of her is the result of Annette Thorpe's careful maneuvers, but although she continues bravely to defend herself she wonders if Annette's wiles will triumph.
  16. From what I remember the ratings for ATWT had gone down before Irna's return and she brought them back up (I might be wrong though) before things got really bad. Dean Santoro (I know he wasn't supposed to be Ellen's biological child, but I still can't believe that he was supposed to be younger than Pat Bruder) seemed to blast the story and understand why Irna let him go, so I guess if he felt that way others might have too. It sounds like the story personally offended her and then add in her hostility towards Jane House and everything gets worse and worse. What other stories were going on at this time and what changes did she make to them? I wonder if she had just lost all objectivity in her writing. I also wonder if the steep consequences she set up in the story with the Stewarts backfired on her with Kim/Bob, as it seemed like she had little interest in making Bob or Kim pay a price for their adultery. It's funny because I HATED HATED HATED the "sympathetic adultery" story which was done on Ryan's Hope with Jill/Frank/Delia, yet I am fascinated by the Kim/Bob story and also by the other sympathetic adultery story she did with Edith Hughes and Ellen's father.
  17. Thanks. What do you use to put your pictures up? I really liked the article. I never knew she had polio. She really seems to have fought a long time for both conventional and unconventional ways. I also never knew that she lived in the same house as Joan Collins (at different times). I wonder who has it now.
  18. Constance Towers auditioned to play Julie Richards on Love is a Many Splendored Thing (Beverlee McKinsey got the role).
  19. I know! I wonder if they ever interacted on the show? After Capitol ended I would have loved seeing them bring in Constance as some sort of rival for Alex, perhaps she could have been related to Jennifer and this could have brought Jennifer and Amanda Spaulding back to town.
  20. I've wondered that too. I've always assumed that she left of her own choice but who knows. I'm not tempting my luck with my scanner again right now but later/tomorrow I will post a fashion spread Nancy did for the Digest (I wish they'd kept those fashion spreads going, although when you have something like "Ariane Munker and mother bikini fashions" you might be running out of actors ). There's a truly...unique gold lame overcoat Nancy wears that looks like a pseudo-rich flasher's. What would Mrs. Pinchon or Livia have said
