  1. My question would be what "on screen romance"? Ol' Hillary was friend zoned from the beginning (from what I can tell) and Kelly was clueless about her crush as he obsessed over Morgan.
  2. I checked the SOD synopsis for '87, and can't didn't see the new administrator's name mentioned. That year, Phillip was poisoned, Alan had a heart attack, Marah underwent DNA testing, Johnny had cancer and Meredith brought Rick up on charges with the medical board (she dismissed them around Christmas.) So there was plenty of action around the hospital.
  3. Nope. Twice in supporting, once in lead. If you need something happy to focus on, Jerry ver Dorn was nominated seven times in the '90's in supporting. lol.
  4. Neither her picture or her character's name ring a bell. I checked the soap hoppers thread; slick includes the designation or "Administrator", leading me to believe she was the hospital administrator after Maureen quit. No doubt a sign of the times. Bernau not only would've had stiffer competition, (there were at least 14 shows) and supporting wasn't a category until 1979. As much criticism as we dish out, he only had to have one good episode to submit. His noms come in the '00s, when the likes of Shemar Moore won in supporting. (I mean, c'mon.) I'm a little more surprised Raines got a lead nom (the same year as Robert Newman, ), over Deas. Although it looks like Deas just stopped submitting.
  5. Darn this show and their lack of creativity with character names. I rarely think of Johnny's parents or their names. Yes, they ran Company before Hawk and Sarah. I don't even think they were in town that long, the viewer reception and regime changes working against them.
  6. Can't we confine sex talks to friends, and not family members? I don't need to hear Anita advising Nicole on her sex life again. Ditto Martin with Ted. And honest---I also don't need a lot of reminding that Anita and Vernon sweat up the sheets either. A little goes a long, long way.
  7. I don't think anyone dismisses needing a mix of occupations on shows. After Hillary's death, the only full time nurse I can think of was Lillian and (briefly) Annie. Five cops towards the end (Frank, Gus, Harley, Marina, Mallet) seemed a little like overkill. Even if they were trying to optimize set usage due to budget.
  8. Bea also does it a bit with the Kurt/Mindy/Rick/Roxie quad. I find it a little odd that there wasn't at least one cop as a main character, although my guess would be Mike being a lawyer filled that law-and-order slot. Making all the Coopers cops was overkill. And considering Frank and Harley's parents were Buzz and Nadine, unintentionally hilarious.
  9. If we get to keep a Reardon, I'd prefer we kept Bea. My opinion of Beecroft and Tony has eroded a bit over the years. Tony owned a bar. I don't know how much more stereotypically Irish the show needed to be. They didn't have main characters as cops on the show yet.
  10. I think they played it as a nervous breakdown. She ran for mayor while she was sleeping with Jeffrey, who was also running (I think). Blake was exposing people's secrets on some web gossip site at the same time. I forget how she landed in the coma--she may have caused an accident and gotten caught by it herself. They then shipped the kids off to be raised by Holly offscreen.
  11. I didn't know that either! Thanks! Obviously she got the role she was meant for!
  12. Immediately starts wondering what roles Colleen would've been right for in that time frame....
  13. Well, Amanda didn't pay him for his MENSA abilities. It does amaze me when actors sell stories they don't like, or like stories we as the audience don't. I can imagine that trying to sell a new relationship (that's not well-motivated and likely to piss off your fan base) would be a little extra draining when you're pregnant.
  14. Blake mostly cared about action between the sheets. As long as that was decent, she could've overlooked the rest.
