OLTL

If they fired Erika Slezak to make room for Easton they may as well cancel OLTL right now.

Viki needs a storyline and a new love interest. I find it interesting that people petitioned the show for Clint to have an affair with Dorian, now people hate Clint, think he is stupid and the sleeping with Dorian was ewwww now no one wants him for Viki where they did before. Guess people better be careful what they wish for. Personally I knew it would destroy the character of Clint, and it is because people don't like him anymore since he is basically a blind idiot turning his back on his family. I saw no reason for them to have Clint sleep with Dorian as part of a big Viki/CLint reunion, but they did and now Viki is out with no love interest and the big Viki/Clint reunion has gone sour before it even started. Why does OL make these idiotic decisions?

Where was this Erika Slezak being fired for Easton come from?

I think it is just dark speculation ..but not without some merit. It's obvious that OLTL's production wouldn't use any of its older characters if they thought they could get away with it. If Easton is getting more money, where do they WANT to cut? HBS, ES...RS was loud about not getting the money she expected when her contract was renewed. (To be fair, even KDLR's contract negotiations were not smooth).

Clint with Dorian is the 'more shocking' story, and the one with more obvious conflict (so was there any doubt where Dena would go?). But it doesn't take into account a few things. First, Clint is a new face on an old character, but should be an actor, not a reactor, with his own story, with his own villain to face down, and haranguing Norman Leeds doesn't count - especially with Spenser targeting all the Buchanans. Second, VIki is becoming the Kenny of OLTL with how many bad things they can have her face without giving her anything back. If they had cast another desirable male in Clint's age range for Viki, or even given her back a job at the Banner, there would be far less outcry. But they'd somehow rather hire a Mikey.

Resurrecting this thread on the basis of the news from yesterday re OLTL uncasting. Before, I thought the show was terrible, but salvageable (with major behind the scenes changes). Now, I'm not sure those changes can or will be done in time.
