Well, a really bad male actor with no future in acting has won the first two seasons.

I'm just saying.

I was shocked that Shameka was bumped. She was far and away the most talented.

You know, a whole lot has been said about soaps and OLTL that explains why they are all so bad.

How many times have they said Mikey you can't act, but you are cute so we'll keep you.? LOL. Anyway, I don't think any of the remaining three would do anything to improve OLTL, but I'm not sure any of the ones who are gone would have done anything for the show either.

ITA, Jess. And the casting director saying soaps = sex. And Shamika didn't have it. This is what is wrong with daytime right now. They cast looks not talent. They write trash not stories. All of these idiots deserve to be out of a job.

Oh, and remember the first episode when Bruno admitted the one lady was the worst, but liked her accent so he kept her!? GMAB!

The ABC soaps have awful casting directors which is why their casts are so bad now, with the exception of GH. AMC and OLTL cast these "sexy" newbies who always seem to be lacking. I wonder how they can keep their jobs!

A Soap Star with Y&R would probably give the show some credibility. DOOL was originally the soap for this season, so it's probably next. I don't see much of an improvement with their casting director, lol.

It's a shame, if you think about it, last years runner up actually could've became a HUGE soap star. She has the looks, the talent and I could totally see her fitting in on AMC. Alec Musser fades into the background.

I never thought for a second Shamika would win, but the TRAVESTY that is Mikey should not be allowed to walk around that competition any longer.

He's not a good actor, everyone knows that...he gets by on his looks and his emotion (so they keep telling me). The fact that he is still there makes me take pause regarding this competition.

Beth Ann is the only true contender left.

Oh and Kelly forgetting her words should have been her ticket home, but no...she's there still.

I don't get this show.

I thought Kelly recovered nicely...?

I do like Kelly, but she didn't recover at all. Her scene partner recovered, she just stood there and did nothing. A good recover would be going to your next line or making one up. On a real soap they'd have to cut tape because it was so obvious Kelly flubbed her line.

I feel like the editing made that scene more excruciating than it really was. They made the pause seem like 25 seconds long.

AMEN on ALL ACCOUNTS!

DAYS is probably next, but I hope Y&R is seriously considered. Y&R(from what people speculate) is SOAPnet's highest rated show. Doing a reality contest with your highest-rated soap would probably generate lots of ratings for that timeslot.

And I am ready to see a REAL actor/actress win next year if they do a competition(not to say that Mykel Shannon-Jenkins was bad. Alot of people hate him on this board, but I didn't think he was a bad actor. I mean, it could have always been worse. Kelly Thiebaul could have been Season I's winner).

A Y&R SOAPSTAR would lend the show some credibility in my eyes.

I doubt it. I think it would have as much credibility as the first three winners!

No.no,no. The producers at Y&R and Sony would probably not put up with such a travesty. Y&R has too many fine actors to have some pretend soap actor walk in and gum up the works. Now I know they had a country singer on a few weeks ago but that was for one episode. The two first winners of "I Want To Be A Soap Star" have proven that the show is crock. The first winner was used so sparingly on General Hospital it as awful the way they put him to the side. For good measure they killed him off! Last year's winner ,Alec Musser, got a better shake but that is probably because they used Mkell so liitle the previous year they wanted the winner of the competition to have something more than just a stay on the set of a soap opera. Anyway they should have next year's competition have a chance to go on Passions. It would be a fair trade off for all concerned.

Why do you guys say that?! Y&R's casting director and the producers of Y&R would have a stake in picking the winner. The reason why beauty has triumphed acting abilities is because the past three seasons have picked winners for ABC soaps. I think we would see a MUCH stronger competition with a Y&R SOAPSTAR. I see them picking people who can actually ACT to compete.

I just have a question. Why does everyone like this show? The "acting" is horrible, the judges for the most part are freaks....

And everyone complains how soaps just get the good looking no talent actors on the shows, and that is exactly what this show promotes.....so why the interest?

For me, the first season was the appeal of seeing a reality contest that was geared towards a soap opera. Towards the middle of that, I was absolutely amazed at how melodramatic these people were. Hehehe! Kelly from Season One was SO funny, because she was bad and everyone KNEW she was bad. To the point where the judges said this:

Mark Teschner: "It's like you're talking to the pizza delivery guy and you're having trouble deciding between the sausage and the pepperoni."

Debbi Morgan: "I'm just sick of you!"

Michael Bruno: "You're the face. But I don't think you can back it up."

Hahaha! I just frigging love when the judges come down on the contestants. The only judges I thought have credibility is Debbi Morgan(who is a veteran actress who WASN'T hired because of her looks) and Mark Teschner(GH's Casting Director, who was on the panel for Season One).

Michael Bruno is a Big Gay Al clone, professional acting pimp, and a horny gay man who always has a hardon for washboard abs and capped tooth hunks. Judy Blye Wilson(from AMC) is a woman with a Mrs. Robinson complex. And Julie Madison is intimidated by beautiful actresses.

And BTW, Kwing, the guy playing Remy on GL was rejected from the initial acting process on SOAPSTAR. Now I know why. Hehehe.

ETA: Another reason why I watch SOAPSTAR is because it's on SOAPnet. I watch just about everything on SOAPnet, especially since I purchased basic cable JUST to have that channel(granted it was at a really low fee!).

Because Bruno and whatsherface will still be there to push a looker over talent.

It combines two of my favorite things - soap operas and reality shows.
