Today's episode was very hit and miss with me. I love that they're adding financial hardship to Carly's problems, because everyone seems to be rich in daytime. I loved the interaction between Luke and Holden, but Damien's sadly brainwashed the poor boy.

I hated Lia's death scene, how much more cliche and cartooney could they possible get?

Anyway, what are your thougths on today's episode?

You beat me to the punch

Okay, I think that it's time that Damian gets seen for what he is; a conniving, backstabbing jerk who would purposely ruin the bond Luke has with both Holden and Lily, all because he simply can't accept Luke for who he is. Everytime he schemes, it just proves that he's ashamed to have a son that is gay.

Now for the Carly/Jack stuff. While I think it's silly for Carly not to have one single dime to her name to pay her bills, I do have great joy in her telling Jack he's not her knight and shining armour anymore. It is so obvious that Jack is suddenly going to be interested in Carly again once she starts her business with Simon.

Speaking of Simon, Katie should for once just be happy with who she's with. When Katie came back to Oakdale, she set out to win Mike at all costs; plotting schemes with Henry to break Jennifer and Mike up. Now that she has him, she's always sticking her nose in the business of others that are either involved with Mike or were in Katie's life. She got herself involved with Nick, telling him to stay away from Carly; now she's doing it again, warning Simon to stay away from Carly. If she doesn't want to have Simon interferring in her life, then why doesn't she stop interferring in his?

Now for the Summer Murder/Maddie storyline. First off, I'm glad that Lia is gone....second, the scene to get rid of her was so cheesy. Right now, I am interested in Maddie's story. Like I said in a previous post, I think that Maddie was assaulted by her sister's husband; however, Maddie isn't the one that is offing people. That would be WAY too obvious to have her killing off her peers.

Over all, the show was okay.

I am just glad Luke finally grew a backbone(even if it is a brainwashed backbone) I found Lia's Murder to be kind of fake, though I was surprised they showed us so much of it, as glad they did, because know I am more interested in the storyline, knowing that there is going to be some action in it. Also enjoyed the Carly/Jack/Lisa scenes. As for Mike and Katie, they were boring as always, just not as boring as usual. Pretty good show today.

Aside from a couple of misses, I thought today's show was pretty good. I loved the Carly and Lisa interaction. Actually I loved all the scenes today that involved Carly/Jack/Lisa. It was a nice surprise to see Lisa. Hopefully Lisa can talk some sense into Damian that whatever he's trying to do is simply not going to get him anywhere. Even if he was able to get Luke away from Lilly and Holden, his son is still going to be gay. He needs to realize that.

While I'm still enjoying the Maddie storyline, I just can't get over how fast Casey moved after Maddie ended things with him. Oh well, Goodbye Lia. I have to add, I'm not 100% sure that it was Maddie who killed Lia.

Gwen/Will so so for me. I want the truth to come out. Mike and Katie boring as usual. The only pleasure I got out of those scenes were just looking at Paul Leyden.

I loved the Carly and Lisa scenes today! When Carly first came to ATWT she was a bad girl and Lisa befriended her and took her under her wing.In recent years the show ignored that and even had Lisa side against Carly during the Julia Larrabee story.New writer Bettina Bradbury wrote that script.I hope she continues reminding us of relationships the writers have forgotten.

I am a CarJack fan but I like that they are not putting them back together so soon !

The "Psycho-inspired" murder was cheesy.I don't believe Maddie did it.If she did do it I believe she has a split personality (DID) due to sexual abuse.

I hope Luke finds out about Damian soon!

No PEM today!! :)

I loved Carly and Lisa even though I hated the setup. Every time Carly is on her own, they make her completely poor and it's so repetitive. She always has to grovel or cowtow to some man, so even though she told Jack off, she'll be under Simon's thumb in no time.

Holy Psycho! How appropriate that a show about psychos rips off the movie Psycho. LOL

EXACTLY!!! I was disappointed though that there was no---EEEK EEEK music. The entire scene was laugh out loud funny although I don't think the killer was Maddie-- unless she managed to grow a couple of inches and is a quick change artist.

LOL. I was really looking forward to the Psycho music too. In the handful of episodes that she was on, Lia made me wish she were dead. Ciao !@#$%^&*]!

Katie and Mike = FF

Nice to see Lisa and Carly. Carly should learn about "dine and ditch" though. I would have paid money to see Carly walk out and leave Katie with the bill.

How is Carly poor though? I don't understand this. If Carly was a housewife all those years that she and Jack were married (except when she worked at that sleazy strip club place), then Jack should be paying her. This whole situation makes both Carly and Jack look like idiots. It's an obvious plot point...nothing else.

The new script writer, Bettina Bradbury, already has brownie points from me. In both episodes, she's managed to have Lisa on! I'm impressed. Also, last Friday (I think that was her first episode) had a slew of vets on. :)

Good show today, for sure. Van secured my vote for the Top 10 today when Luke was talking to Damian and Holden about not knowing what to do or where to go. It was a little weird, but realistic, to see Holden and Damian not immediately rip each other's heads off at the police station. I think that for the time being, they realized that Luke and Lily were the people who mattered at the time. Does Lucinda know that Luke's staying at Fairwinds with Damian? She needs to find out so she could get him out of there and living with her!

I'm giving Alexandra Chando the actress vote because I think she's done a great job so far with her story. She's pulling off the haunting look very well. And is it just me...or does she look like a combination of Katie Holmes and Linda Ronstadt?

Ding dong, Lia is GONE! I. Did. Not. Like. Her. Not one bit and I'm glad she's kicked the bucket. Or better yet, I'm glad the knife's kicked her. It definitely wasn't Maddie who killed her. Unless Lisa has some shrimpin' boots lying around her penthouse at the Lakeview, I don't think Maddie did it. Zach Roerig today did some of his best acting that I've seen AND he was in a towel for most of the episode. Perhaps he was courting my vote for the Top 10?

I'm glad we're finally seeing a little return to the strong, confrontative Gwen. I was expecting her to just let Will off today, but I'm glad that she caught on to his shameless attempts to cover his own ass. Even after Gwen's questions cooled down a bit, you could still tell that she was suspicious about something.

Carly and Lisa were great to watch! The thought of them washing dishes together...LOL! And, like oakdalelover, I was glad that they re-established the friendship between them. I had read about Carly's entry into town a few months back and thought that it was strange that during the Julia stuff of 2004, Lisa was on Julia's side (I distinctly remember Lisa telling Julia, in the way that only Lisa can, to "oh, sugah, don't worry about Carly...")

Now I'm one of the very few who can enjoy Mike and Katie together (I can't help it; they just bring the romance for me and I really like them), but they annoyed me today. I mean, yes, Simon is obviously still fawning over Katie, but they didn't have to jump all over him like that. Especially Mike. But alas, if it was done any other way, it wouldn't have been in character for them.

Sadly, PEM and crew will be back on Monday it seems. I just hope that if they go the whole custody trial route that it gets over quick and that's it. I wouldn't mind Paul, Emily, Meg, and Dusty if they were separated and in other storylines with other people, but together, they just become redundant.

And like the rest of yall, I've been impressed with Bradbury's work. Not surprising though. She was one of AMC's best scriptwriters when she was over there.

Lia's dead? WOOHOOT! I loathed her.

  • Member

Too bad it wasn't Jade also...I still don't like that girl. I think Elena Goode is pretty, but I just can't stand her character

  • Member

Yeah, I still don't understand why they never made Jade Rose's daughter. That was the biggest mistake. And also the fact that she slept with Will. I don't think that made her any more popular. The only fun part would be seeing Gwen...and definitely Barbara...tear her to shreads when the truth comes out.

If I'm going to buy a Carly/Simon pairing, I think they should lay off all the Carly/Jack scenes. Despite what I think of them, they have a lot more chemistry. Hopefully, the first impressions about Simon and Carly aren't right...but usually they are.

Those shower scenes were so cheesy, especially the scene with the arm stabbing w/ the knife. But I loved seeing Lia get cut up. Yeah, the killer was too short to be Maddie...but perfect height for Miss Skinny Legs, aka Jade.

Can't say I was too interested in ATWT today, only saw bits and pieces of Carly and Lisa, and the last scene.

Yes, it was right out of Psycho. Whenever anyone gets stabbed in a shower, most people with think, "Hey, that's right out of Psycho," but I thought the scene was pretty frightening. All that blood splattering and the change in Lia's face to show that she was dead was really well done. I thought it was a well executed scene, and I was surprised to see her being killed off so soon. I thought she could act. The actress reminded me of Jennifer Ferrin.

I don't like this storyline for Maddie. She's gone from this cute teen who was mostly comic relief to this disturbed teen who suffered a great trauma in her past - just before showing up in Oakdale. It feels like sloppy continuity.

  • Member

I agree that the continuity is kinda shaky, but I've got to give major props to Chando as an actress --- she's gone seemlessly to light comedy to serious drama rather seemlessly and has really shown range. IMO, she's definitely an ATWT superstar in the making and could really be the big breakout young star on ATWT in the next year.

It was nice to see Carly/Lisa together, those two have history and Lisa has always been able to keep Carly in check. Even during Julia2.

As far as Carly and money is concerned---- she has never been a good money manager. She came to town to do damage to Rosanna and to get money, when she got it she lost it ( remember the money in the canvas bag). She almost ran through Parkers 50 million until Rosanna put a stop to it. She took the money she got from BRO and brought that fancy red car Jack drives. It goes on and on. So for her to be having money problems now is in character for her. Yes her money problems are a prop for a Carly/Simon match but her need for money has been the engine that drives her train since the begining.
