There's been some talk on the boards lately about recasting the role of Mickey Horton on DAYS. What are your thoughts as to who could take over the role? I personally believe that it would have to be a heavy hitter, a well established actor in either daytime or primetime.

My thoughts:

Jerry Douglas (I think he'd have great chemistry with Suzanne Rogers)

Jed Allan (admittedly that would be a bit odd, but more appropriate than Chris Kositchek returning as Roman Brady)

Larry Bryggman (he'd never leave New York, but it would be fun to see him in a role that's such a departure from John Dixon)

John Reilly (rumors that he may be returning to GH notwithstanding)

Robert Gentry (he's been away from daytime since his return stint as Ed Bauer on GL in the late 90s)

And while I'm speaking of ex-Ed Bauer's on GL, how about Peter Simon as a recast Bill?

I don't even think they should bring him back unless John Clarke is willing to work one or two days a month.

I think John Clarke is the only actor that should play Mickey.

I'd love to see him return for a short-run to "reunite" him on screen with Maggie/Suz. But, after that...I think he should....die...then use that as a reason to bring Sarah Horton back to town.

I would have Maggie move into the Horton house with Alice, Abby & Sarah. ...and hell, toss in Jeremy too.

While I agree that John Clarke is the best choice for Mickey, the actor left due to personal issues (health) and might not want to return. If this is indeed the case, I nominate Nicholas Pryor (ex Victor, PC) to play Mickey. He would be amazing as Mickey.

My personal pick? Gordon Thompson (ex-Mason, SB). I have always thought he was a splended actor, and he's no stranger to daytime.

I would just bring Clarke back for like 2 days and kill him or if he can't do a two day stint (which should not be a problem since it's only two days ) then just have him die off screen. Maggie has been in limbo too long and seeing all these big events that Mickey would and should be at and seeing Maggie at them alone is just annoying, This is especially so when Maggie makes up some lame explanation like "Oh, Mickey went to the market because we had no time to go during the week. He will be at the wedding later." .

I hate the uncertaintly of it all-just tie things up and let the character go.

That just might happen now that [!@#$%^&*] is gone. Who knows. We all still don't know what the plans are for Days for the fall season.

But, I must say that IA.

No one. Clarke is retired and deserves to be left in peace. Kill him off in his sleep and have a funeral and let that be the end of it.

Way too hot for Mickey, but I wouldn't mind Mickey being de-aged a bit. Old Fart Mickey clashes with Rogers. She's the sexiest over 50 lady EVER.

I did like the actor who replaced Clarke for a while before John Ingle took over, however, Clarke IS Mickey. Suzanne is too good of an actress and still too hot to be paired with a geezer.

I say we bring Lane Davies on as one of EJ's relatives, and hook him up with Maggie.

I think Mickey is a much needed character. The Horton family really needs to be revived and recasting Mickey is a first step in doing so.

I'd also bring back Melissa and Sarah Horton and maybe Mike Horton as well.

There's really no need to bring Bill or Laura Horton back now that Jennifer is going to be written off when Melissa Reeves leaves, unfortunately.

I'm with phoenix on this, I think they should bring him back for a few episodes and let him die. I don't think they should have recasted Mickey in the first place.
