I can't explain it.
Maybe Tomlin did not want her back and resented having to write for her, since he had his own characters and storylines in mind. Perhaps he was irritated at TPTB for believing/hoping Courtney's return would entice viewers back into the fold more than Tomlin's vision of the show and what he was writing.
There must be a half-way rational explanation as to why he put no effort into writing for Courtney, but since it's all so baffling, we will never know what was going through his mind.

Y&R - RIP Tom Ligon (Lucas Prentis)

Another actor that may have worked as Brooks would be Robert Kelker Kelly, especially after he departed Days. He has dark hair like McCook's Lance but would have the beard as a tribute to Lucas who he looked up to as a father.
There were many B&B crossovers in the 90's having McCook appear as Lance would be weird, since his Eric character interacted with the Y&R characters. They could have found a way to make it work. Brooks and Lance would have a rocky relationship, especially when Brooks calls Lucas Dad.

As I've said on this forum, I haven't regularly frequented DL in over a decade since it went pay to post. Trying to figure out how to register was a waste of time. So no, I have little to no idea what any of this is about. I do know from friends who still use the site that someone apparently brings up my name a lot and is furious at me, which seems futile since I'm not there to see it. Interesting that Swift had it on hand though.
DL in the old days was great but that was a very long time ago. (My SON screen name is a reference to my old identity as Victoria Lord writing from behind her elegantly understated desk on DL many years ago - before they came up with that lame tryhard nickname 'Sleestack')

But that doesn't make sense right? I mean, the whole purpose of bringing back JC was it was the show's 20th anniversary and they were hoping to bring back viewers since JC was an admired actress from the show's past. Considering the publicity of her being fired in 1975 and the outrage from viewers her character was a legacy. You would have to be a complete idiot of a writer if you did not understand why the show was bringing her back into the fold. I kind of think the network & EP were only interested in the publicity they were hoping for bringing her back and they had no real interest in a storyline. Tomlin probably knew that and she was just pushed to the side as a familiar face from the past. AW really botched so much that you have to shake your head and wonder where the hell were these peoples heads who were in charge. I suppose the publicity of bringing back JC flopped from the beginning and they figured don't waste any time giving the character a real storyline as she was written out not even a year later. What a disappointment.
