I love how Dani externalizes what is being done to Andre as if it was this thing that happened that she had no part in, because what would hurt him is her finding out and not her doing it.

MVJ definitely needs to slow down with her unwarranted fascination with Jon Lindstrom - the character is awfully written, but there is nothing interesting about Lindstrom’s performance either. Frankly

I find it a more honest version of Dani than the last couple of months where she's been the one doling out Nicole-like advice to everyone. Dani's supposed to be the mess. When did it stop being in character for messed up people to self-sabotage?

Same. Even the characters were pointing this out. Dani was overdue. Of course, as per Dani...her timing sucked.

Today's episode wasn't as tightly constructed as yesterday's episode but it still had some entertaining moments.

Dani was trying to clean up the mess she helped create, she was equal parts desperate/pleading and angry/determined. I guess it needed to be said but she also lied when she told Bill that they were the only two who knew what they did. Oh really, Dani?🤨It feels like Bill is just a genuine serial cheater. I can't see him being faithful to any woman, eventually he will stray with someone.

It must be challenging for Ambyr to try to lay still through all these bedside scenes because I do see her moving at times.👀I think Lami's monologue at Eva's bedside was better today than his scenes yesterday.

Nicole and Kial are still just "meh" to me. I think they are trying to shoehorn Greg on the canvas when there is not much for him to do. Other than Nicole, he has no genuine purpose and that is not enough for me to invest my attention. Meanwhile, I realize that Kat didn't want Nicole to know but it's still odd that even Andre with his gimpy leg knew what was going on but Nicole, the self-appointed "Fixer" of the family was totally in the dark. Ironically, last year, she chewed everyone out for keeping her in the dark about Martin but, it feels like a choice now.

I'm just going to assume that Mona's fundraiser went on without a hitch since we haven't heard from her but saw Jan. I do wish Mona had at least one relative (Laura, as a niece would have been a great choice) because clearly, on this show, having at least one relative helps to anchor a character. Maybe we see Mona tomorrow. Or next week.

In the first episode they set up a Mona/Laura relationship and straightaway we were thinking mmm...Is Mona actually Laura's mother??

Since then, neither have been seen much, nor has Nicole's home office - their workplace.

I didn't get a mother/daughter relationship from Mona & Laura, to me Mona came off like an Auntie type for Laura. The way Shanice pulled in Dr. Monica, is how I first imagined that Mona would have helped Laura get the job working for Nicole. I think I even proposed that in Season one. Oh well.

I see what you did there )

Is BTG going to skip/ignore Juneteenth this year, like they did last year?

Last year, I complained that I thought BTG was missing cultural touchstones and a few people were apparently baffled by my concerns. I guess I will reserve judgement after today's episode airs but Juneteenth is a federal holiday and if they can celebrate Thanksgiving, they can certainly celebrate Juneteenth on this show.

On a network and production company owned by the Ellison’s, we shouldn’t be surprised if they don’t acknowledge it at all honestly.

Leslie in a uniform is giving 'Nurse Shelley' vibes. I wish Shanice would address that.

Also, how cool would it be if Laura was a match for Eva?

I love the story with Kat, at least she's creating something we can talk about. Funny how Tomas is MIA. TPTB are fully aware he's incapable, wonder how long before they'll get rid of him altogether.

Izaiah is a philosophy teacher, he loves (Jacob's words) but he believes in God and he prays. I'm not saying the two things can't coexist but the character was supposedly also a hot-head in the past and he's learned how to cook from a random mobster who was his mentor (in what?), not from his mother who makes a delicious chocolate cake. It's a mess.

Sorry but I'm not here for AJ's sultry Heather. The character is already too cartoonish and I was getting weird incest vibes with her brother Joey. It doesn't help that she and Vanessa are both blondies. AJ should have died her hair brown again, since Joey is salt and pepper but still dark. The blonde has never suited her.

A HUGE agree from me on that. I’ve seen paternity reveals totally derail soaps over the years. I’ll never forgive Y&R and Lynn Marie Latham for the Katherine/Jill reveal.

That was John F. Smith.

This makes me wonder something. If the writers are able to write a character like Kat, and to a lesser extent Eva, so well... why do they seem to have trouble with the Chelsea character? The actress has improved quite a bit over the last year, but the writers seem to treat her as an afterthought and only to be bought out for family gatherings, to be a voice of reason for Kat or Dani, and to remind people that she's non-hetero.

I've concluded that once it was decided that the show would be one hour long they had to come up with extra characters and that's why we've been saddled with Chelsea and a bunch of other non-entities.

As for Kat, ITA with you and I also think it was just by mistake that she became the best written character. I think they just poured a bunch of flaws into her to prop Eva but the audience wants precisely flaws and Colby made it work wonderfully.

Eva started really strong but once the anniversary reveal happened, they did not know what to do with her to salvage her as a heroine (!). Plus working so closely with TMG affected Ambyr's acting as she began picking up new tics...

As others have mentioned, Hayley is a Bill Bell character in spades as seen in Jill, Nina, and to a lesser extent Lauren.

I have to be honest, I don't see what's so Bill Bell about Hayley. She's such a sloppy, after-thought character. They're visibly making up her backstory as they go, as they don't know what makes her thick or what her vulnerability is. She's too two-dimensional to be a BB character IMHO

I've wondered about this too. He's been MIA this whole week during her struggles with deciding to get tested... which seems SO odd given he is her boyfriend. Clear writing on the wall for me that he's not long for BTG...

I agree with so much of this.

Lami has been doing a good job as Izaiah, but the writing for him is all over the place. I don't know who he is because of that. Why he was tied to Joey, I have no idea. That stuff is horrendous.

Once Eva recovers, they need to recover her character, because she hasn't done much at all for a year. Her character has been propped by all the Kat mistakes and attitude, but it hasn't helped the Eva character at all, who seems much smaller than she did.

I'm still out on Ashley Jones as Heather, but I think the casting is a gamble, and it's shaky. I don't know that I buy her in this role.

Moving Hayley to Y&R would be the death of the Hayley character because Josh Griffith.

Andre should have an ex-lover show up in town with his 4 or 5 year old son in tow. See how Dani reacts to Andre with his ex. Plus, it would revisit the conversation Dani had with Andre about how she couldn't provide a family for him and then poof he could have an instant family if he got back together with his ex.

I had thought of Laura being the donor for Kat, too, which would be ironic that Leslie tried to kill the gal that ends up saving her daughter. Doubt they'll go there though.

I do think the character of Tomas works. On paper he's the perfect mix and the whole Kat/Tomas/Eva/Izaiah quad could drive story for a long time. The show just needs to find a strong actor to slip into the mix. I was iffy on Lami for a while, but this week has turned me. I'm good with him as Izaiah.

I also feel like Chelsea isn't needed on the canvas at this time. We have Kat and Naomi. I'd write off Chelsea with Madison and then down the road bring her back one of those two ever leave.
