There was a brief moment where Vernon had a moment of confusion that he attributed to being tired, after Dani asked him if he was okay and urged him to take care of himself. In his defense, he did acknowledge that he had a lapse.

thats exactly the route they are going in and I didnt think they'd jump into it so soon

I was just about to post this. I loved it.

I know the Naomi/Jacob flashback episode wasn't liked by all, but I really like those scenes where we can see how certain relationships started and the milestones that already took place.

I view those types of episodes as a way for the writer to share some of what was written in the show bible in a condensed way. And I always wondered what drew them together, although I'm still not sure why Naomi kept referring to Hayley as her best friend when Ashley was the primary friend in her flashbacks (encouraged her to go out with Jacob, lent her an item for their new apartment, etc).

It is WAY WAY too soon for another medical storyline -- especially with Anita's husband. Why in the world would anyone think this is a good idea?? If tptb want to go in this direction with Vernon, they need to wait at least 18-months.

Great point!

Ugh same. I'd love to see Vernon have a storyline of his own, but a medical issue just after Anita's is overwhelming.

people can have multiple best friends and Naomi calling Hayley that doesnt negate Ashley also being one for her. With that said, Naomi does have poor judgement and rushed too fast wtih accepting her in her inner circle

Fully agree. This is absolutely insane, and it's a horrible idea.

If this isn't a fakeout, this writing team has lost their minds.

Awww finally getting some other flashbacks besides Bill/Dani. This one shows why they are friends.

Not gonna lie I actually liked that flashback. I kind of wish we got to see Vanessa sneaking a cigarette.

original release date: Friday April 17, 2026 | writers: Natalie Minardi Slater, Cheryl L. Davis | director: Steven Williford

Thoughts:

  • I hope that the reconciliation between Nicole and Vanessa is not temporary. They both need their friendship in their lives right now.

  • Aw, how sweet of Vernon to sing and give Anita some golden balloons. You can sense his excitement for her.

  • Jacob, when you are wincing at every moment, then it is hard to say you are fine to Naomi.

  • Pamela is back in Fairmont Crest? That is exciting.

  • Katherine... you showed some slight promise at your birthday celebration at Uptown... do not back track now. Please.

  • Madison is really concerned about this lawsuit... and poor Chelsea is overwhelmed by it. Sweetheart, do not let this stress you out as much as it clearly is for some reason.

  • Vernon really is the definition of husband goals. Anita is quite lucky to have him in her life.

  • I like that Naomi is bringing things up to Jacob so that way it is a face-on confrontation. But his naïveté is showing. He is seeing it through rose-coloured glasses.

  • Nicole being off-put by having something in common with Joey is hilarious to me. And Vanessa reminiscing about her past beginnings with Nicole is beautiful. Love seeing how they began... and how Vanessa needed a cigarette at that time. So much fun.

  • Hindsight is 20/20, right Chelsea? Now you understand why Madison was so concerned about you involving her mother in this... should have just listened.

  • It is so sweet of Vernon to reach out to Madison where the lawsuit is concerned. That is what a future in-law does right. Poor Vernon thinking he might have something neurologically wrong is so upsetting.

  • Bill, you did not fall back into old habits. You meant what you said and that's the honest truth. But not Dani's eyes widening at the idea of Andre approaching Bill over it. She is messy in the best kind of way.

  • I pray it is stress and lack of sleep that is causing Vernon's lapses. We have all been there. Myself included.

  • Nice to see Nicole dole out some warning signs to Vanessa. Just hope that she takes them seriously and proceeds with caution.

  • Not Bill assuming Pamela's position with the celebratory bubbles. How presumptuous of him, even though he knows he should be Mr Dani Dupree still.

  • The poor torture Naomi has to endure because Jacob is balls-deep in this plasma ring undercover op is unfair to her. I know he is dedicated to his job... but at the same time, I wish he could be a bit more fair about how it is clearly affecting Naomi right now.

  • Damn. So many brilliant artists were placed onto Anita's playlist. How excellent.

  • Aw, I am so happy that Nicole and Vanessa have repaired their friendship. They do not need nor want a man, especially one like Joey Armstrong, to come between them.

  • Not Dani ending her phone call with Pamela by acting as if Bill needed her was classic. We have all been there.

  • Kaherine, enough with the name-calling. You need to grow up and be mature. Act your age, not your spoilt self-centred shoe size.

Notes:

  • WOO! We get to end this week with a script from Slater and Davis! Two outstanding writers who know how to bring a classic soap vibe to modern times. Perfect pairing. And outstanding direction from Williford.

  • The changes to the Caffeine Fix have been nice to see. The set was fine before but you can tell the 2026 budget allowed for some improvements to it, which are seen. Love that they are putting some focus on updating [some] sets.

  • Amazing new flashbacks. And cigarettes? Love that. And Jeresa Featherstone continues to do amazing by introducing fashions that were 'in' around the suggested time of the flashback. It feels true, genuine, and appropriate.
